You should do an entire series hitting all the luxury makeup counters- Guerlain, Armani , Cle de Peau, YSL, Victoria Beckham… I’d be curious to see how much they charge. I was shocked when you said the price but felt better when you got product for the price
I know it was nice to feel the serum, but putting the tub straight onto your face touching your skin is a big no no for infection control(as well as the mascara 😬)
Next : MAC. It's classic, it's old school, it's tried and true...yet no big influencer/TH-camr reviews any of the makeup anymore. You have to find the smaller youtubers that review some of MAC makeup.
I realize the lighting was bad, but the eye shadow technique for your liner didn’t do it for me. The liner in the reference photo was so precise and crisp. It was also quite a bit darker. Idk if it was worth what you paid for it. But getting the product was a pretty cool “trade”. Great video as always Tina!
I felt bad for you Tina. I'm such an introvert and whenever I go into such stores I just nod yes for everything and never suggest any improvements, and then I come out completely dissatisfied. So this brought back those memories. Let's be honest they hardly ever come close to the reference pic. They do fine but.......
I have been to Dior stores in Europe. They have specific tubes that they use for applying makeup on consumers than once they are used. They use a new one that's never been touched before. Their hygiene practices are usually very good and strict. So im 90% sure that the mascara they used on you will be thrown away and never used again.
i loved that idea of redeeming the price of the makeup service in buying the products. That is great!🤩 loved this video, but in my opinion, your makeup in the outro was better 🤫
Regarding the mascara going straight from the tube, at makeup school they taught us of course about the disposable wands, but also an antiseptic spray that's specifically for eye products which we use to spray on the wands to disinfect them. Sure it can't be 100% hygienic but no one ever had issues if you're careful enough to do it every time. So maybe they use sth like that?
You're supposed to spray the wand before dipping it back in the tube, so you have to spray it twice. But it's not 100% hygienic by all means.@@Insomniafueled
Hahaha I have never had great results getting my make-up done at these make-up stores. The beauty advisors aren't really make-up pros and the result though not horrendous, is something I can do myself. And these is ALWAYS something off. YSL once made my eyebrows look like caterpillars lollll..
idk, maybe the mua wast the best at her job but she still did her best. Its not her fault that the conditions for work is not the best. But yeah, comparing the shop in Dubai, this one wasnt the best.
the people doing makeup at these counters are often just sales associates with a little extra training, not actual MUAs. i've had good luck at MAC, afaik only trained MUAs do full makeovers there. they were also way way more concerned with disinfecting everything there
I just got my MUA certification last year and I looked at positions at ulta and sephora and they both said they hire anyone with a high school diploma for any position
As someone who has worked in the makeup industry, been a makeup artist and now a beauty blogger, I cringed several times during the video. I live in London and have NEVER been happy with any makeovers (mostly because they don’t know how to do makeup on “Asian eyes” 😅) but Korea is always a different story. I would literally get my makeup done in Korea just to go to a 7/11 - any excuse 😂 Thanks for this content, please do more! ❤
I can’t agree with u more. They either make my face look like homeless , or FREAK. I have done so many times at YSL head quarter in Toronto at Saks. Or Sephora flagship store in Toronto. It’s just really bizarre . I would get d MOST Orange 🍊 grey skinned, hook eye 👁️ TurkishWorrier eye brows n just omg I can’t explain how much Made UNDER it is for me EVERY time. I am East Asian, but they will try to make me look GOLDEN BROWN to be South EAST Asian. So they will give me 4 shades darker foundation to make me look more “tucked in” 🤬 . For White ppl think Asian look the same. Even they made an Asian person doing my makeup still looked so bad at YSL. She made my eye brows almost SQUARE ends close together in the middle of my eyes, n boxy, n so thiK so i look like those JUNGLE ppl who had weird face paint about to like rough up ppl have wrestling match. It’s so bad. I end up doing my own makeup for wedding. I have 1/3 1/3 1/3 semetry, normal straight nose, normal mouth, double eyes long lashes. It’s really easy to do makeup on me.
@@birdtj82 Omg, I feel for you, but at the same time, your descriptions made me laugh! It is so frustrating when they don’t know how to do our makeup, either over exaggerate or do something “artsy” (weird AF) 😅
I'm a disposables everything kinda MUA, so if i were to get my makeup done, I'd insist on just using my own mascara if they're not using disposables consistently. If i didn't have mascara with me, I'd skip it and just apply when i get it. Ugh... im a germaphobe and I can't... Im surprised the DIOR mua didn't use disposables 😭 i also noticed this in your korean makeover videos. Anyway, i hope you never get anything bad out of it. This was fun to watch, please try Make Up For Ever next. I used to work for this brand and they taught us hygiene practices well, i wanna see if this is consistent in SG as well. Hihi...
This was extremely underwhelming. I understand that the lightening was difficult to work with and obviously you know your face better then anyone else so it’s easier to apply your own makeup, but things like the mismatched eyeliner are just not okay. I feel like this type of thing is never worth it unless you are going to buy the amount of $$ anyway and you just want your makeup done for free haha… but I would be interested in seeing Tina try more fancy brands like this!
My daughter when she was in junior high used a friends mascara and let me tell you when she woke up the next morning her eyes were crusted shut, I have never seen such unbelievable green grossness coming out of her eyes. We actually went to the eye doctor, they were that bad. I would never let a make up artist use a mascara one that other people have used. If anything I would happily hand them over my mascara to use on my eyes.
Oh the mascara wand would not have ever touched my face 😂. I have a friend that works in an ER and the amount of eye issues and nail infections turning crazy bad just because someone went to a salon that didn't have individual or hygienic products. Her lectures about those horrors have stuck with me lol. Maybe they clean and sterilize the wand before it goes back in tube but if there's double dipping it's pointless 😭
As for the mascara, i think itd be fine if they use a new one and then give it to you. But if they keep using the same one on all of their clients, that's gross :)
The makeup looks good on you Tina 😇, unfortunately I don’t do much makeup but I intend to learn more as time go on and hopefully post more on my channel 😊
