Got the chance of a lifetime in the spring of 1996 to visit the base at Reims where E.R. 1/33 “Belfort” was based and saw their Mirage F-1 CRs up close and personal, sat in the cockpit of one and watched them do takeoffs and landings from the tower. What a beautiful aircraft, and so powerful, the noise was loud even up in the tower. Met one of the pilots who had been doing photo recon. missions over Bosnia out of Aviano; at that time they had been taking pictures of hidden Bosnian-Serb military equipment positions (artillery and armor), and suspected mass graves around Srebrenica, some of the photos of which we were allowed to look at. He was also very proud of an illicit overhead photo he had taken of a US U-2 getting ready to take off at Aviano. At the time it was forbidden to anyone, allied or US to to take an unauthorized photograph of that aircraft.
The filming of the F-1 takeoff sequence is awesome, great camera angles.
One of the first videos I watched on TH-cam.
Always return for another watch 👍🇬🇧.
Iraqi pilots gave the Iranians good lessons by the Mirage F1 during the gulf war in 1980s. I remember how beautiful feeling when I was looking at the Mirage F1 in the sky of Baghdad the days of Iraqi airforce parade in 1986, childhood memories.
As a glider pilot used to flying around 55 knots, the speeds in your video scare me to no end! Thanks for sharing!
Very sharp fighter! In Greece we really love it !!!
By far the most beautiful French combat aircraft ever made! ❤
The F-8E (FN) was magnificent too, and I was lucky to seat in one of them on board the Clemenceau, but of course it was an American project.
I will always believe that we have some of the most gifted pilots here in the USA (I work for one) but I must say I am impressed with the French pilots. Nice video.
Though it's old, The Mirage F1 has got to be the COOLEST "conventional design" fighter plane ever built...
I mean, Its design is probably the first thing that pops into your mind when you think about a Fighter jet!
One of the best video i've seen of the Dassault Mirage F1 ;)
It's like, "Forget traffic, I'm taking the Mirage."
Feels good to see this video again after so many years 😊
Ce F1 est un fantastique "Pur sang". Un aigle prêt à fondre sûr sa proie. J'ai dû visionner 100 fois cette vidéo. La musique est parfaitement adaptée.
This is awesome. gives me goose bumps! Fighter jets are 1 of my passions. Why I can't really describe its a feeling that i get in my heart and body!.
GabberWijffie Minnie Wous I understand you.. the one thing I know I will always regret is that I never believed enough in myself to try to become one. I would've most likely failed like the thousands of others but at least I'd have tried.
I have been drawn towards being a pilot for the air force for nearly as long as I can remember. Someone who used to play in the same football team as me is actually becoming a Jet Pilot. He was always really good at things and his dad was a pilot for the air force as well, but wow..
I agree, the Mirage F1 is kind of like the essence of the fighter jet :)
Low level in USA soon. Airborne Tactical Advantage Company (ATAC) bought today 63 Mirage F1 for training Us air force.
Breathtaking and extremely competent flying.
-And I'm British :D
Bien cuit!
The main gear of a F1 always reminds me of the talons of an eagle ...
This is a Fantastic Video, with very apt music accompaniment! Great aircraft (if a tad long in the tooth) and flown by some of the Best Aviators in the World!
Trés belle video fpa 1972 elle m'a fait fremir Merci !!!
its amazing how fighter pilots can move their hands and point so fast at 0:56
love the engine sound...perfect..!!
french pilot in chad doing chad stuff
a chad in chad
Looking good France with awsome music.
Thank you!
I cant imagine how LOUD it would be to be on the ground and have one of those fly overhead at that low
Excelente trabajo, presicion, musica, y tomas de video. Dios los bendiga y gracias. Excellent job, precision, music, and video footage. God bless and thanks.
The Dassault Mirage F1 jet fighters, called "fléchettes" ("darts") within the French Air Force because of their finesse, were fast, agile, tough and reliable aircraft. Morocco likes them so much that they decided to upgrade theirs with a glass cockpit and a modern radar (the Cyrano radar is clearly obsolete) with the help of the Israelis. They have transformed these venerable air superiority and ground attack jet fighters into multirole aircraft.
Best vid ever, enjoying this foe at least 5 years!
I like to watch this video from time to time. One day maybe I will have the opportunity to sit in a machine like this while it's in motion.
Who dont wanna be pilot?
Thank you for the clip, i enjoy every secound.
How awesome would it be to just fly all day, without any one or anything bothering you, it would be so peaceful
2019 i like F1
A Master at his craft
I love the Mirage
Best video on the tube!! Love it!!
My favorite plane, what a machine !
Superbes images. Merci.
C'est marrant la respiration du pilote. Le rythme est vachement élevé ...
I love the Mirage F 1, good Video 👍
The Mirage is so bad ass! Not all Americans are ignorant about the French, keep kicking ass in that beast of a fighter jet.
This is awesome!!!Music is fantastic
Well nice meeting you!
@Polaris688 Mirage IV is retired.
Now we're using mainly Rafale, Mirage 2000 and some Mirage F1.
Grettings ;-)
Mirage F1 POWAAAAAAAAAAA !!!!!!!!!!
Only a highly experienced fighter pilot can do that
Don't ever, ever underestimate an opponent, the biggest virtue of a warrior is commitment, the biggest virtue of a soldier is discipline but the greatest strength of the tiger is patience.
it's governments, not the people that are screw up.
Bravo to these incredible French pilots!
Outstanding flying!
this is why i want to be a fighter pilot nuff said
Still an ever so stunning machine!
no words just awesome.......♥
The cobra manouver with the Sukhoy or the Mig with old planes without losing Control not bad

Whoa! This sound makes me shivver allover my body!
French forces have been present in Chad since 1986, during the Chadian-Libyan War. (Operation Epervier) in 2006 at the battle of N'Djamena, French airplanes have participated in reconnaissance mission to determine the scope of Sudanese involvement. The french forces provided logistical support to the government but without taking sides in the fighting; they also provided the Chadian with intelligence on the enemy's movemements.
(look for operation epervier on wikipedia)
it is one of the greatest job in the world, to be fighter pilots although you cannot get rich like a businessman but you could fly like a bird of pray :)
Le plus beau Mirage!
My uncle in france helped installe the
electrical components into the Mirage
at AMDASSUALT IN THE 70S
trop fort la musique colle bien à l'action
Great mix of video and music. Should be
used in recruiting pilots.

we just opened a new base in UAE(al-dafra),the first one ever in that part of the world, and the first abroad since our colonies gained their independance in the sixties
Less than 100 feet is not for everyone is ONLY for the best and Mirage is a hell of Jet all the best for all the pilots who risk ther lifes
i love flying low like that
100 feet dangerous very professional and dangerous from Carlos Portugal
These Guys are flying very low LIKE A BOSS
This vídeo is something less than 100 ft is for topgun pilots they are the best for you guys all the best from Portugal Carlos
No one does NOE flight like the French. Respect.
Le plus beau métier du monde. ..!!!
True, even during the cold war, by the 1970s with new and advanced radar systems coming up, the best bet for conventional attack aircraft was to perform high speed low level penetration, e.g. MiG-27, Su-24, F-111, A-7, A-6, etc.
Nada supera al vuelo arrasante del Pampa...
AWESOME TUNE...AWESOME FOOTAGE!!!
2:01 to 2:06 is so unreal...thats looks like it must be the coolest thing to do.
@Turok456789 Actually Fairey Delta DF2 was a British Fighter plane made in 1954,The French Brought it changed the nose put guns on it and called it Mirage.
I'm French, and I'm prod of it too, but America I have to admit, your pretty Awesome too!
The line was peace with my boy, you cross that line, now I cross you
C clair. En tant que gros touriste de l'aviation que je suis ;o) quand on voit les images ça a l'air tellement facile, on se rend pas compte.
@The3H2SO4 Chad used to be one of our Colonies, and we have a good relationship with Chad. They are very friendly people and not beligerent like most of Africa is these days.
We have an airbase there.
That has to be the best job in the world!
im just glad the french are on our side
le f1 en air sol sa déchire !
got to breathe hard at this level of flying.
One of the most badass video in the history of internet, I remember it was already famous on the pre-youtube web
@YOUNNNN Here is one badass flyby. Propably an bet. The guy standing in tarmac won the bet. Not even slightest flinch. th-cam.com/video/PLXhPoxytsM/w-d-xo.htmlsi=0Y_bDzTfcrgvwRtc
I agree
I love it when they're flying down the dirt road... Lower than the plane would sit on its landing gear
