My KJV has never failed me. Words I didn't know, I simply did the work of finding out. Doing so kept me digging into my Bible (since 1989), like a miner digging for valuable treasures.
None of the translations have failed me. I am willing to do the work and parallel the translations, and even check them against the original languages so that I can develop a deeper sense of what the authors actually wrote. Don't make an idol out of a translation.

The world loves and cherishes Shakespeare, but can’t handle the KJv. English. Remember when Jesus said a hard saying about eating his flesh…the crowd left . Because they didn’t understand; because? Yes, but Jesus didn’t call them back. The natural man cannot. And wants not to understand. The Holy Spirit inspired the writers and will inspire us.
Critics attack the number of translations that exist but the more I study the Bible, the more I've come to greatly appreciate the different translations. Whenever I need clarity I check out mulitple translations. Its a blessing not a set back. I'm really glad I was born in this era of access. Our fellow saints before us didn't have the priviledge. That said the ESV is my preferred version because of the readability mixed with the word for word approach
While you may find value in different translations because in their entirety it is clear that doctrine will be preserved their are clear verses that at missing in some versions not to mention clear subtle changes in words and meanings just enough that people will argue over certain doctrines…mainly works based salvation vs grace + work’s salvation vs grace salvation through faith, and not of yourselves. This is the gift of God which is not of works, preventing any man who may boast. The problem here becomes a gotcha game where the context of the chapters and books are ignored , in order to create a cherry picking contest….kjv is where doctrine should be established not other modern versions. The telephone game isn’t just a theory but a real world exercise to be acknowledged and understood. You do not use later or modern English versions to usurp original English language versions. There is a reason why people say find the root word meaning from Greek Hebrew and Aramaic because the English language from its inception was designed to run words and meanings together with multiple possibilities, this was not the case in early human history regarding structural integrity of language. God said he will preserve his word not future languages. It is important to understand this!

I agree with you, but also recognize that its not the most accurate translation. I love it though. My biggest gripe with the KJV is how it began the tradition of translating Yacob (Jacob) as "James" hmmm... I wonder if king JAMES had anything to do with that decision, lol. Yes! A very good idea, Leon. Taking a multi-translation approach (in any language) has a lot of benefits to understanding something that wasn’t originally written in the language you’re reading it in - like the Bible.

@@natewilson111My main Bible is the NKJV, I read the KJV sometimes, it's not "magical thinking" but I find that these versions of the Bible give you a much clearer picture and expound on the meaning of certain verses. I've seen it where the NIV, or even the NLT uses specific words or phrases that is limiting, it doesn't agitate thought, and could even produce a slight change to the meaning or even context. This is not said with any attitude. You might as well get you an NIV or ESV if you're going to use the Strong's. God's word does not bow to man's dictionary. The KJV defines every word in it. You want KJV and classic Amplified also NEED Strong’s Concordance to see what the original words and their meaning were. KJV is best by far, imo. You're going to run into a few fundamental problems in attempting to assess God's word if you're approaching it from the lens of textual criticism and considering the mechanical transmission processes involved, thereby constraining argumentation to historic causality. You are throwing out the timelessness of God (Isaiah 46:10), the inspiration of the Holy Spirit, the prophecies of the Book of the LORD (Isaiah 34:16 for example), and the MANY verifying signatures that God provided in the Book of the LORD (the King James Bible) that show that it is INDEED the Book of the LORD prophesied in Isaiah 34:16 and NUMEROUS other places in Scripture. I'd be willing to have a discussion with you on this topic. My goal isn't to "win" any debate, but simply to edify the Body of Christ. The church is currently blind regarding the HIGH-RESOLUTION roadmap God has provided in Scripture related to the rapture of the church and the Second Coming. One of the reasons that the church is unaware of the incredible detail that God has provided concerning His plan for the end times is due to the fact that they don't recognize the Book of the LORD (KJB) and truly understand that it is the book God intended for the church at the end of the age. I'll give just one example, the 2023 Reversal: Most Christians aren't aware of this encoded countdown sequence, which is linked to the rapture. It's a REVERSE countdown tethered to the year 2023 (although not ending in it - obviously). It is an extension that extends beyond the year 2023. This sequence can be simply identified as the 2023 Reversal. It is not mentioned as such by name, but it is encoded in countless ways in Scripture. One of the more apparent representations of it is actually right on the surface if you have faith in God's WORDS (not just the general concept of God's word). Among other places, it can be found in Numbers 23:20. Here's the KJB verse (REVERSE IT capitalized for emphasis): "Behold, I have received commandment to bless: and he hath blessed; and I cannot REVERSE IT." Numbers 23:20 In God's sovereignty, He is actually giving us a hint that there is a blessing (the rapture in the secondary or "far" prophetic context) linked to 2023, which is encoded in REVERSE with 23:20. 23:20 flipped is 2023. And yes, God does recognize and utilize notation even though it was added after the original manuscripts. Acts 15:17 for example alludes to the Luther and the Protestant Reformation in 1517. There are THOUSANDS of examples of this. Regarding the 2023 Reversal, no one can reverse the blessing linked to this reverse sequence(s), which is referenced elsewhere in Scripture. Here's the same verse in the ESV (REVOKE IT capitalized for emphasis): "Behold, I received a command to bless: he has blessed, and I cannot REVOKE IT." Numbers 23:20 In the case of the ESV, the contextual clue that God provided in the Book of the LORD (the KJB) is obfuscated as REVOKE implies something quite different than REVERSE. A REVERSE count (counting backwards) can make sense, but a REVOKE count is nonsensical. The 2023 reverse or backward sequence(s) is a key component of God's end time plan, and one of the reasons that it's been hidden until these last days is because the church has not been standing firmly on the WORDS of God. Many give lip service to faith in God's word, but they don't actually believe that He gave us a book with His words for the end times. John 18:6 This change isn't quite as egregious, but it still obscures the clarity of the word BACKWARD when attempting to recognize the structural link. I'll try to briefly explain the structural representation. One of the ways that God encodes 4-digit years (typically critical years) in His end time plan is with 2-digit numbers that are comprised of two addends (God's an efficient programmer). John is Book 43 in the Bible. 43 = 20+23 (2023) The Gospel of John is the only Gospel that contains the word BACKWARD. The word BACKWARD or REVERSE doesn't exist in the other Gospels. This is because the major backward or reverse sequence in God's end time plan is linked to the year 2023 (43=20+23), but it overlaps with the year 2024. The word BACKWARD is in John 18:6 and 18 + 6 = 24, a shorthand representation of the overlap year ('24) that the extension sits on top of. Furthermore, John 18, which contains the word BACKWARD is chapter 86 in the Bible. 86 = (20+23) x 2 This represents two 2023's. The 2023 Reversal or BACKWARD sequence(s) is the second 2023 in God's plan. Obviously, the first 2023 is already behind us. Here's another structural example: Esther is book 23 counting BACKWARD or in REVERSE in the OT (starting from Malachi). Apart from Numbers 23:20, Esther is the only other book in the Bible (KJB) to contain the word REVERSE (in Esther 8:5 & 8:8). Both mentions are significant. However, Esther being Book 23 in REVERSE in the OT and also containing the word REVERSE is just another way that God makes allusion to the 2023 Reversal and its significance. I'm using the 2023 Reversal as just one example of unknown Biblical knowledge that is the result (in part) of the church not realizing that God gave us not just His general word, but the actual words He intended for us to have in the last days, even if the "translation" from an academic perspective, isn't the "precise" translation we might expect. Even "perceived" mistranslations in the KJB actually convey the brilliance of God concealing deeper things (Proverbs 25:2). There are many things that God has now unsealed, that could only be revealed by God and validated by the Book of the LORD. As another example, the mystery of the seven thunders in Revelation 10 has now been unsealed (as of 2022) as well. We should talk. I won't come with just argumentation, but with evidence of the power of God. For example, God has verified the 2023 Reversal with real-world aids and signs. I really like the New King James Bible out of all of them. Also, the kjv says that Catholics were the ones who invented the church of Jesus but we know that it was Christians and Catholics came a lot later but i wont even get into all of that because theres a lot of criticism i could expand on. There are some differences but i think they are pretty minor considering a lot of other bible versions are very different than the original manuscripts and to me, it dilutes God's words and i think that makes it less powerful. New King James version is my favorite and its easy to read and a lot of scholors agree that its the closest modern version Bible.

Right, the NKJV is quite clear as far as modern speech goes, and the annotated ones have lots of references noting where other texts do or do not have bits added or removed, based on different early ms, such as 1 John 5:7.

Thats because he believes everything he thinks is correct.. and I'm sorry, but 1 scholar with a conclusion that he quotes does not make it solid fact. It needs to be studied by multiple people. And for as many scholars that say he is right there are just as many that say the opposite. It also has no credibility when the people studying have a bias. And the way he puts things out especially concerning other people is done with no class and he literally just says they have no clue what they are talking about. I will give credit where it is do, Wes is very educated and a lot of what he says is fact. But also he has a bias that prevents him from seeing some things. I know some things he says are proven to be incorrect.

While I do agree with your application of 1 Corinthians 14 here, you should have made note of the fact that Paul was addressing speaking in tongues in that passage. While the principle still applies, and what Paul said is just as true of language barriers as it was of tongues. I think it's appropriate to briefly make note of that, and explain that it also applies to this issue. Sometimes people will rip things wildly out of context, and other times people will strangle the full meaning of a text to a very rigid contextual meaning. It's important to highlight those nuances when we encounter them, so that people understand that this principle doesn't violate the context of the passage, and why it doesn't violate it. You don't need to be verbose, they can dig deeper if they want to, but it should be mentioned.

@@onlymyself7225 No I think you're being blinded by your own bias. Wes clearly says he still reads the King James Bible, as do a lot of Christians today. But he's also correct that some of the words used in the KJV have different meanings today compared to when the translation was written. God doesn't protect translations, he protects his word. This is why the men who translated the KJV tell the reader in the preface that the KJV will need updating as the meaning of English words changes. Luckily for us, the KJV was updated as the translators requested, so a lot of people migrated to the NKJV. I still listen to an audio version of the KJV but I also use other translations because the only "inspired" versions are the original Hebrew and Greek manuscripts. Translations are not inspired.
This is a great explanation. My pastor does use KJV but I think he explains it well. If I were to just read it I would have to pay close attention to contexts to get the meaning. I like the NKJV. Use kjv, esv, niv. When you're not sure about something get an explanation from ancient language scholars or watch them debate it. Or if you really want, learn the original languages yourself and read from the codices

I always come back to this point when people get all heated regarding the main translations . When one person says the KJV is the only God inspired version. What about all the other language bibles ? Spanish , Italian , Chinese , Vietnamese, Iraqi etc. Are they all NOT reading the true word of God just because they speak a different language. Textual criticism uses man’s wisdom to discern the word of God. The word of God must be spiritually discerned not analytically discerned by man’s knowledge and methods
Learning to Read is also Man's wisdom, as well as learning to count. Without that knowledge you can't read the numbers or letters in the bible. It's important to understand that Man's wisdom comes from God, it is not in enmity with God when it is used for godly purposes.
You cannot spiritually discern what you cannot cognitively understand to begin with. Textual criticism is mostly about understanding the textual and grammatical elements that go into reading any written text, and not about discerning wisdom per se.
I was thinking of what you posted. But I didn't know how to put into words. But I spiritually felt my decernment was enough for me to believe that the Holy Spirit will help me decifer the message that God himself wants to reveal to me. I actually enjoy the challenge of knowing the meaning of the text I am reading. The Bible in my opinion is not so much that you become an expert on the text. But wholeheartedly, dive into the devine message of God to your soul. And the love that God has for each and every one of us.
I grew up KJV only, but over time I learned what Wes is saying is right, the meaning of words change. It's not heretical to think that scholars from hundreds of years ago would translate a foreign word into their "modern" english, it's okay to do the same thing today.
I started out with KJV and now I'm settled on NASB1995, I've read also in ESV and some in NIV. KJV was extremely challenging to navigate and I had to google a lot of the words in it, although I read it through and through, Nasb1995 is great 👍.
Stop for a second and think about what that means…..changing the meaning of words vs the unchanging word of God. Do you see the problem now. Shift your mind from being overly concerned about the intentions of some involved in the process and more on the consistency of doctrine throughout the scriptures. If something changes it must be 100% without contradiction right? Or we have a problem. Now go study every direct scripture and indirect scripture that you ever heard regarding the topic of salvation than see if all versions are the same!😮

As a huge KJV fan, I loved the points you raised. The KJV sings to my heart but it isn't always an easy read. It requires pondering and extra leg work to get to an understanding. Now if you're the kind of person who enjoys study, that's wonderful. You'll gain such a lot. I agree though, understanding is key and language should not be a barrier. Personally, I think a great idea is to pick a complicated verse and read that verse in as many good translations as you can. You'll soon identify your personal go to translation. I'm not the most educated person. The things I had the hardest time with were the names of people or cities. There was a few times I had to look up some words but I honestly didn't find it that hard to follow. Take care

I am studying entire bible now to get a clear understanding which I am not. I have King James Version because I read somewhere that other bibles were revised a lot of times to fit into preset times. Although after learning who king James really was maybe I shouldn’t be reading at all. I can understand at 50% only especially Old Testament since that language and meaning is impossible to translate. What is that you recommended as a best and most logical bible?
I once tried to read Robin Hood, and the book I chose was for some reason in the form of English at the time of writing. It did not go well. English changes over time, so re-translating to modern English would be expected, unless you want each generation to be able to read an English translation less and less.
My favorite translation is the ESV. It has the same literalist approach as the KJV but translates it using a modern understanding of English instead of the archaic olden usage found in the KJV.
The KJV is a revision of the Bishops' Bible. The Bishops' Bible is a revision of the GREAT Bible. The GREAT Bible is a revision of the Matthews' Bible.

I would think the Jews would have the best understanding to translate the Bible since theirs is the culture from which the Bible was originally written.
As you point out, "halt" is used in the KJV multiple times, leading to the ability to compare uses, decide whether or not they make sense to me using my already known definitions, and then I can look it up if I'm not sure that I've got the word down pat. I acknowledge that our public education system no longer functions properly. Sadly, many younger people (I'm in my 60s) don't know any of the definitions of halt. Lame is just a mild slur to them, without meaning. Dumb only means stupid, and terrible always brings to mind jump scares. I, however, don't wish to lose the beauty of my bible for fear that someone else can't understand it. Christ called me using the KJV. He's taught me using it. I'm a KJV fan. :)
Read Noah Webster's Bible, which is essentially the KJV, but brought to mid-1800s American English with no doctrinal changes. He kept notes on every single change he made and why.
My father who will soon be celebrating his 81st birthday, the Lord willing, explained it very clearly to me. He was a high school drop out and volunteered for the Army, serving from 63 to 65. He didn't get saved until much later in 1981 and he read a KJV bible. His oldest sister was very learned, having gone to university and earning her degrees. She could not make heads or tails of the KJV bible, but what a university-taught lady could not understand, a high school dropout would read and the Lord would reveal the meaning to by His Holy Spirit. My father would pour over the bible for hours on end, weeping and crying out to God as he learned what all Jesus had saved him from and the wonderful gift of eternal life he'd been given. Simply put, he told me that before you read the Word you should always pray for the Lord to give you understanding and to guide you. That you read it not by yourself but with Him at your side, trusting Him to lead and guide you into all Truth. My father knows the Word and understands it as well as anyone I've ever met and I know it's not some fancy learning that made it possible but his clinging to Jesus and trusting the Holy Spirit to guide him as he read. Certainly the KJV is my favorite version to read and while I do have other versions and I do read them as well, it's mainly to help make the Word more available to people that don't really read it yet so I'm not putting them off from the beginning with words they might find confusing. I'll still use the KJV if they're willing to sit and listen to me explain it to them if they have trouble, but yes, for me I read the KJV and love it :)

My Dad and brother have recently turned kjv only because of a channel called Truth is Christ. It shows all of these crazy word counts and patterns and what not. Its very frustrating because at first I thought it silly numerology, which I've ran into before but this is entirely on a different level. I would love to hear Wesley's take on this channel. These are not just crazy anomalies. The patterns are way too deep, exhaustive, layered, and profoundly accurate to be mere anomalies. If Jesus is the seventh Word from the beginning of the NT and the seventh word from the end of the NT in the KJV.....(as he is the beginning and the end) ....why is he found to be the 6th word from both the beginning and the end of the NIV New Testament?? Coincidence?? I think not!! The NIV promotes a different Jesus and a different gospel. Let it be accursed!
Yeah I have seen his videos too and i agree it’s not just some pseudoscience numerology stuff, it’s actually there. For example, the word “Amen” shows up 77 times in the Bible.
@@TrevoltIV Not to mention the fact that the grand total of the first and last words of Genesis 1:1 combined with the total of the first and last words of Revelation 22:21 with earth not being capitalized as it's found in the text and Amen being capitalized as it's found in the text, you discover an exact total of 77,777 words combining those total mentions in the KJV. That cannot be a mere coincidence and as you said, the word Amen as it is capitalized is found exactly 77 times in the KJV with Christ being the first and the last, the Amen, the true and faithful witness. And this is just one tiny example of hundreds and hundreds of astonishing patterns discovered within the past three years in the KJV. Men are now without excuse with regards to the perfection of the KJV. I find it more convincing in English than I even do the manuscripts. It's a supernatural work from beginning to end in the world language of English!!

There are exactly 980 pure mentions of the name Jesus in the NT.Those 980 mentions are divided perfectly equal between the odd and even books of the NT. Which is 70x7 in both odd and even. Yes, I think the NKJV is fine. I still personally would advocate for the ESV, NIV, NLT or NET before the NKJV (for textual reasons), but you’re certainly right that the NKJV is a very readable option and alternative.
@@WesHuff NIV is not a good translation - in Ephesians - it does not translate 'walk' as walk. The word is used consistently throughout the text - except in the NIV. There have been a number of other glaring problems with NIV - most fixed now I admit - but for a ling time it was not the best. Eg older versions said that Gad killed Goliath?? An obvious error - how did that ever get in there?
There's a small bit that I feel should've been said, here. You might have a video about it but I'm new to this channel! I think it's relevant to point out something that happens as a result of what you're saying, here, and I've got an awesome example: I'd like to take a look at Exodus 22:18. The NIV version says, "Do not allow a sorceress to live." In modern English, I can see where the idea came from, as the KJV and GNV read, "Thou shalt not suffer a witch to live." They *sound* alike but that isn't what the word "suffer" meant nor is it in correct context with the phrase, "to live." In fact, the Greek version of this text doesn't refer to a witch but, instead, it mentions "pharmakos," a Greek word that refers to magical potions. It says, as translated to English, "you shall not procure." The Hebrew version doesn't say this, though; it says to not accept services from a practitioner of magic in order to preserve your life. This is also consistent with the older meaning of "suffer," which is to be around or be in the presence of someone or something. I mean, check my info to be fully in the know. It's just that, provided this information is true, even in part, that suggests that a tiny mistranslation has had a massive effect on the development of the faith in a way that is not in alignment with the truth. This feels, to me, like a highly important issue and further highlights the need for believers in Christ to seek Him and his truth, always, and continue to study the scriptures, even if you think you know them.
We don't update Shakespeare and I wouldn't suggest update the Bible with every breeze of new lingo. Context and word searches are simple learning opportunities you just gave several examples of the word halt in other places of the Bible. That's a part of studying and growth. The KJV is the greatest book ever written!!!!!!
I get the point but we actually have updated Shakespeare in the past, in part due to changes in printing technology. We also have simplified versions of Shakespeare, as well.
The KJV went through many updates for you to get the version today. The Bible isn’t being updated but translations do get updated. If you want a very precise word-for-word translation, get an interlinear and do the hard work of discerning original context and meaning. For those unable or unwilling to do so, just get a good translation that is understandable and recognize that there are limitations (just like the KJV has limitations that aren’t present in other translations or the original languages).
The reason why newer translations aren't as good or even heretical is that they take away from the word of God. Mark 9:29 in kjv,nkjv,Young's Literal Translation and Geneva Bible all say "prayer and FASTING" when why the apostles couldn't cast out a boy's demon. All newer translations leave out Fasting which is taking away from God's Word. Beware of false translations

And most people would take it literally as don't eat but I think (as most of the meanings in the bible are hidden to blind the foolish) it's really saying fast from sin because someone practicing sin will not be impowered by God. this is an example of the kjv adding, not newer translations removing the verse in greek is: Kai eipen autois Touto to genos en oudeni dunatai exelthein ei me en proseuche the greek word for fasting, nesteuo, is no where found in this verse other examples of the kjv changing scripture is by defining consensual sex without the blessing of the womans parents is rape (which atheists take advantage of to say the bible is pro-rape) and translating the word servant as slave (also taken advantage of by atheists)
It depends on the manuscripts used, you have to remember that most modern Bible translations use much older manuscripts that the KJV translations didn't have because they weren't found until several hundred years after it was translated. The KJV isn't perfect, no translation is except the original handwritten books and letters.
Absolutely 💯!! Check out the Truth is Christ channel and you'll be totally convinced by the overwhelming numerical patterns and evidences that God has placed in the KJV which do not exist in ANY other modern translation. These patterns are astronomical and statistically impossible outside of divine inspiration.
What amazes me is those who abide by the KJV get attacked more than those abiding by all other versions. There are countless videos and books criticizing those who are KJV only. It really bothers some people if you are a KJV only person. It's as if they want to draw you away from the KJV and into a modern vatican translated version.
@@halfstep67 Exactly which also correlates to the same attack on those who recognize the true nature of our redemption in Christ. Our salvation does indeed grant us eternal life, not temporary life, not probationary life. One and done it is finished. Eternal literally means without end…never lost! Other versions compromises this with slight changes in words to imply that it is not finished but rather awaiting or still incomplete until we physically die. Changes the whole debate on salvation being lost or final.

Do we lose some of the cross references from book to book with the newer translations? Heard this as an argument against the newer versions, curious what you think? The argument goes if the wording is changed in one book differently then another then you would lose that cross reference and miss a valuable connection from Old Testament to new testament where you were intended to connect the dots. That’s really what’s holding me back from the ESV. Is this valid?
That’s actually incredibly invalid. You can get cross-references with footnotes for almost any translation. The idea is also, if I can be blunt, rather absurd since the only way you’ll get a full quote cross-reference is by reading a New Testament quote of the Old Testament, but those quotes are quoting a translation from the Hebrew, not the original Hebrew.
The KJV is completely defensible from the perspective of text criticism, but that's not the important point. The important point is theological. Why would God create the Bible perfectly in the autographs, then allow it to become completely changed by the random forces of history? And humans can reconstruct the original using reason and text criticism? That's deism, not theism. The KJV English is much easier to understand than new translations. They just confuse it more. People can easily understand what "halt" means if they investigate a bit. We can understand the KJV uses archaic English. But if you have to decide between 50 different translations it's just more confusing. The KJV is a superior translation in every possible way. Name a single verse of the Bible which some modern translation does a better job. Forget about your version of "intelligibility." If we can google the word, then it's fine. Find a single verse in the entire KJV which has a wrong translation. I can find a thousand in any modern version and they'll admit it since they're already working on their next edition for more profits.

Here are two verses that modern translations does a better job with: Titus 2:13 and 2 Peter 1:1. The reason being that the KJV translators had not yet discovered the Granville Sharp Rule for reading Greek. Due to this the KJV translates Titus 2:13, “Looking for that blessed hope, and the glorious appearing of the great God and our Saviour Jesus Christ.” In the original Greek, the words for “God” and “Savior” are joined by kai, and the definite article ho is only used once, preceding “God.” According to the grammar rule rediscovered by Sharp in the late 18th century, both God and Savior must refer to the same person, namely, Jesus Christ. However the KJV separates the two as distinct persons and therefore the strong emphasis on Jesus' divinity is not in this particular passage in the KJV where as it is clearly the intention of the author to emphasize Jesus' divine nature here. The same rule goes for 2 Peter 1:1, and likewise do to the lack of knoweldge of the ancient grammatical rule, they once again split "God" and "Saviour Jesus Christ." As for a wrong translation I'd say that goes to Revelation 16:5 where the KJV translators erroneously went with conjectural emendation of Theodore Beza of "who shall be" in juxtaposition with all three of the base TRs they were using (Erasmus' editions, Stephanus' update, and Elzevir's text) and all the Greek manuscript readings, which read "the Holy one."

There is nothing in English grammar that would lead me to believe this is necessarily talking about two different persons. Although you might argue there is some ambiguity here, it is removed by a close reading of the context. 2 Peter 1:1 has a variety of textual variants in Greek. There's no reason to assume your reading is correct. There's no reason to assume God wants to demonstrate the divinity of Christ in this verse. Throughout the writings of Peter, the word God is used referring to the Father and Christ is referred to as Son, Lord, and Saviour (1 Pet 1:2, 3; 2:5; 3:18, 22; 4:11, 14; 5:10; 2 Pet 2:2, 17). I'm not sure you're correct that "all" the Greek manuscript readings say "Holy One." It was certainly not the reading followed by Tyndale, Coverdale, the Geneva Bible, the Great Bible, or Mathew's Bible. As for the phrase "and shalt be," it is found in Elzevir's 1633 edition, so he updated it. Beza saw an error and acted wisely, following the preceding texts that contain this phrase (Rev 1:4, 8; 4:3; 11:17).
@@WesHuff We still use the phrase "halting speech." Alert readers will easily understand this phrase. But where exactly do the KJV translators say what you claim they say at 8:41? I do not recall that. I do recall they say their goal in translating the KJV, their "mark," was to make from the BIbles they used "out of many good ones, one principal good one, not justly to be excepted against."
The kjv is the only true word in English. Textual criticism is just that it is a slick term that really means man will change God's word. The lord said he would preserve his word from generation to generation, these versions are all different so which one did God preserve and this garbage of archaic words just excuse to corrupt the word, people had no problem understanding the kjv a 100 years ago, I would seriously caution you about looking to mark ward as am authority for that man is a deceiver.

I used to be anti KJV. I have come to love it. I spent 10 years in the Hebrew roots movement and got all kinds of sideways about how to interpret the Bible and what is expected of Christians regarding the law of Moses. There is a verse in Acts (15:24) that makes it quite clear that Christians are not expected to keep the law, but that verse is only crystal clear when reading translations like the KJV or NKJV. Modern translations do not feature the part of the verse which says specifically that Christians are not expected keep the law or circumcise. Furthermore, I would like to state that it is not only the manuscripts that back up the King James which offer that extra information, but ancient Aramaic manuscripts such as the Eastern Peshitta and the Khaboris Codex also feature that phrase. God use this phrase in that verse to help me come out of the Hebrew roots movement.
There is no such thing as a King James Only controversy. There is only a “perfect Bible” controversy. KJV only people (such as myself) simply “dare” to believe that God kept His word to preserve His Scriptures. Side note, I used to be very anti King James. I thought it was antiquated and hard to read. Then about 5 years ago I decided to seriously study the Bible translation issue. What I discovered is that I had been wrong. When you actually take the time to research the issue you will see how the modern translation “bibles” have been altered in a way that absolutely DOES NOT honor God, specifically attacking the Deity of Jesus Christ, His sinless perfection, The Trinity, and many other critical areas of Christian doctrine. How most Christians think 100+ different versions of the Bible is “normal” is a mystery to me now that my eyes are open. Stop putting your trust in the “scholars” who have spent more time reading the writings of man than The Bible, and put your trust IN GOD and what HE HAS SAID about the Scriptures!
@ hello friend. That is a very simplistic view of this issue. It is SO MUCH more than that. If you care to read, here’s my story of how I became King James only. When I first began my walk with Christ, I was perplexed with the MANY different translations. I eventually settled on the NASB. It is the translation that a very well known and respected Pastor that I follow uses at his church, and one that is supposed to be among the “most literal translations”. Sounded good enough for me, so thats what I began using as my “go-to”. I also chose to compliment that with a NIV study Bible and a NKJV study Bible...... Now..... Fast forward a bit. One day I came across someone in my travels, and the topic of Bible translations came up. I quickly discovered that he was a member of the “dreaded” “King James Only” group. I had never come across this group before, and it honestly seemed a bit cultish to me at first. He began to tell me how all the “modern translations” had been corrupted and altered, and that the ONLY pure and true English translation was the King James. My response to him was something along the lines of..... “That’s ridiculous! There are a lot of legitimate translations. Many of them just have updated language that make it easier for a modern reader to understand” He went on to explain how even my beloved NASB and NIV (and many others) had been corrupted by unscrupulous translators and so forth. He continued, and said that even the New King James has been altered, and has dangerously changed Gods Truth. Ok..... So now I’m thinking that this guy must be crazy....... But I thought about it for a while. I then purposed in my heart that I wanted, above all else, the TRUTH. If what he was saying to me was actually true, I wanted to know about it, and it was worth the time it took me to find out! I decided to do some research on this topic. The short answer to what I discovered is that he was, in fact, CORRECT! There is a lot of VERY compelling evidence that the modern translations are, in part, corrupt and HAVE BEEN altered in a way that absolutely DOES NOT honor God, specifically attacking the Deity of Jesus Christ, His sinless perfection, The Trinity, and many other critical areas of Christian doctrine. To quote Matthew 13:28 “an enemy hath done this” Now I’m not going to try to convince you of this. But I do want to DESPERATELY URGE you to diligently take the time to look into this. Don’t brush this off as I almost did! Purpose it in your heart to seek Gods truth in this matter, no matter where it takes you! I promise you, it WILL BE worth it! I STRONGLY urge you to get and read the book “51 Reasons Why The King James: A Path From Doubt To Faith” by David W. Daniels. Seriously, everyone needs to read this book!!! He makes fair points about the antiquated language, but the manuscript evidence forces me to hold KJV as the standard to which other English translations are held. I will admit that I am compelled to learn about the 'false friends' brought up here.

Bro you literally left out the second half the verse in 1 kings giving meaning to why that word is used between deciding to follow God or Baal, your discussion ignores this context. If you don't understand what a word means, look it up. Once you understand the word then test it to make sure of it's consistency. I studied Greek and Latin bases and learned to immediately look up words to understand what it really means.

Thanks! Yes, "supernatural" claims and numerology stuff is common but almost completely baseless. Every cult and religion can find that type of stuff if you really want to find it, very rarely (if ever) is it grounded in anything that's either realistically falsifiable or doesn't have a paragraph of caveats to make such conclusions.
The KJV is best. Though if reading it is too hard or keeps you from reading, read something else. The consistency of the translation throughout is so good, and very noticeable if you are reading the whole Bible and really getting into just Bible reading and cross references. Some people can’t handle it tho. for some reason. I was a new convert and tried different translations and got into the KJV and it was like organic prime rib vs discount steak. 🤷♂️

The KJV is a remarkable & beautiful piece of literature. It's derived from the Textus Receptus. From my studies, it's a very accurate translation. Way better than the critical text, which almost all bibles are translated from nowadays. I'm not KJV only, but if I'm reading another version & I need clarification, I go back to the KJV for clarity.
When I am doing my academic work I settle on the ESV. Naturally as one who spends a great deal of time in the MSS I see the translation biases but honestly I could not do a better job. The last thing I want is for my translation to agree with me perfectly for fear of an echo chamber.

I am a longtime Christian in claim only. When I read a book of the Bible I go to a Bruce Gore study of that text for interpretation and then re-read that book so that I get my own understanding. There is far more confusion in the text outside of terminology, such as almost everything mentioned in Revelations.
I am not KJV only per say. I just havent found a modern version that does not rub my soul the wrong way in certain places with some of there changes. Nowadays I always advise people to at least compare them but of corse reading a newer translation is better then no translation, assuming it is for the most part a word for word translation save the order of how we say things differently in english.

My KJV has never failed me. Words I didn't know, I simply did the work of finding out. Doing so kept me digging into my Bible (since 1989), like a miner digging for valuable treasures.
None of the translations have failed me. I am willing to do the work and parallel the translations, and even check them against the original languages so that I can develop a deeper sense of what the authors actually wrote.

Critics attack the number of translations that exist but the more I study the Bible, the more I've come to greatly appreciate the different translations. Whenever I need clarity I check out mulitple translations. Its a blessing not a set back. I'm really glad I was born in this era of access. Our fellow saints before us didn't have the priviledge.
That said the ESV is my preferred version because of the readability mixed with the word for word approach

While you may find value in different translations because in their entirety it is clear that doctrine will be preserved their are clear verses that at missing in some versions not to mention clear subtle changes in words and meanings just enough that people will argue over certain doctrines…mainly works based salvation vs grace + work’s salvation vs grace salvation through faith, and not of yourselves. This is the gift of God which is not of works, preventing any man who may boast.
The problem here becomes a gotcha game where the context of the chapters and books are ignored , in order to create a cherry picking contest….kjv is where doctrine should be established not other modern versions. The telephone game isn’t just a theory but a real world exercise to be acknowledged and understood. You do not use later or modern English versions to usurp original English language versions. There is a reason why people say find the root word meaning from Greek Hebrew and Aramaic because the English language from its inception was designed to run words and meanings together with multiple possibilities, this was not the case in early human history regarding structural integrity of language. God said he will preserve his word not future languages. It is important to understand this!

I agree with you, but also recognize that its not the most accurate translation. I love it though. My biggest gripe with the KJV is how it began the tradition of translating Yacob (Jacob) as "James" hmmm... I wonder if king JAMES had anything to do with that decision, lol. Just a bit of a funny anecdote. Love the translation though, its definitely the most poetic, up there with the Jerusalem translation.

This is not said with any attitude. You might as well get you an NIV or ESV if you're going to use the Strong's. God's word does not bow to man's dictionary. The KJV defines every word in it. You want KJV and classic Amplified also NEED Strong’s Concordance to see what the original words and their meaning were.
KJV is best by far, imo. And if you check out the insane hidden codes that’s are only in KJV just as the 77 and all those videos on TH-cam that doesn’t work on other bibles and that to me is Gods fingerprint since no one could create that especially many people over centuries.
You're going to run into a few fundamental problems in attempting to assess God's word if you're approaching it from the lens of textual criticism and considering the mechanical transmission processes involved, thereby constraining argumentation to historic causality. You are throwing out the timelessness of God (Isaiah 46:10), the inspiration of the Holy Spirit, the prophecies of the Book of the LORD (Isaiah 34:16 for example), and the MANY verifying signatures that God provided in the Book of the LORD (the King James Bible) that show that it is INDEED the Book of the LORD prophesied in Isaiah 34:16 and NUMEROUS other places in Scripture. I'd be willing to have a discussion with you on this topic. My goal isn't to "win" any debate, but simply to edify the Body of Christ.
The church is currently blind regarding the HIGH-RESOLUTION roadmap God has provided in Scripture related to the rapture of the church and the Second Coming.
One of the reasons that the church is unaware of the incredible detail that God has provided concerning His plan for the end times is due to the fact that they don't recognize the Book of the LORD (KJB) and truly understand that it is the book God intended for the church at the end of the age.
I'll give just one example, the 2023 Reversal:
Most Christians aren't aware of this encoded countdown sequence, which is linked to the rapture.
It's a REVERSE countdown tethered to the year 2023 (although not ending in it - obviously). It is an extension that extends beyond the year 2023.
This sequence can be simply identified as the 2023 Reversal.
It is not mentioned as such by name, but it is encoded in countless ways in Scripture.
One of the more apparent representations of it is actually right on the surface if you have faith in God's WORDS (not just the general concept of God's word).
Among other places, it can be found in Numbers 23:20.
Here's the KJB verse (REVERSE IT capitalized for emphasis):
"Behold, I have received commandment to bless: and he hath blessed; and I cannot REVERSE IT."
Numbers 23:20
In God's sovereignty, He is actually giving us a hint that there is a blessing (the rapture in the secondary or "far" prophetic context) linked to 2023, which is encoded in REVERSE with 23:20.
23:20 flipped is 2023.
And yes, God does recognize and utilize notation even though it was added after the original manuscripts. Acts 15:17 for example alludes to the Luther and the Protestant Reformation in 1517.
There are THOUSANDS of examples of this.
Regarding the 2023 Reversal, no one can reverse the blessing linked to this reverse sequence(s), which is referenced elsewhere in Scripture.
Here's the same verse in the ESV (REVOKE IT capitalized for emphasis):
"Behold, I received a command to bless: he has blessed, and I cannot REVOKE IT."
Numbers 23:20
In the case of the ESV, the contextual clue that God provided in the Book of the LORD (the KJB) is obfuscated as REVOKE implies something quite different than REVERSE.
A REVERSE count (counting backwards) can make sense, but a REVOKE count is nonsensical.
The 2023 reverse or backward sequence(s) is a key component of God's end time plan, and one of the reasons that it's been hidden until these last days is because the church has not been standing firmly on the WORDS of God. Many give lip service to faith in God's word, but they don't actually believe that He gave us a book with His words for the end times.
Here's another example where the 2023 Reversal is structurally represented in the KJB:
"As soon then as he had said unto them, I am he, they went BACKWARD, and fell to the ground." John 18:6
Here's the ESV version:
"When Jesus said to them, “I am he,” they drew BACK and fell to the ground." John 18:6
This change isn't quite as egregious, but it still obscures the clarity of the word BACKWARD when attempting to recognize the structural link.
I'll try to briefly explain the structural representation.
One of the ways that God encodes 4-digit years (typically critical years) in His end time plan is with 2-digit numbers that are comprised of two addends (God's an efficient programmer).
John is Book 43 in the Bible.
43 = 20+23 (2023)
The Gospel of John is the only Gospel that contains the word BACKWARD.
The word BACKWARD or REVERSE doesn't exist in the other Gospels.
This is because the major backward or reverse sequence in God's end time plan is linked to the year 2023 (43=20+23), but it overlaps with the year 2024.
The word BACKWARD is in John 18:6 and 18 + 6 = 24, a shorthand representation of the overlap year ('24) that the extension sits on top of.
Furthermore, John 18, which contains the word BACKWARD is chapter 86 in the Bible.
86 = (20+23) x 2
This represents two 2023's.
The 2023 Reversal or BACKWARD sequence(s) is the second 2023 in God's plan. Obviously, the first 2023 is already behind us.
Here's another structural example:
Esther is book 23 counting BACKWARD or in REVERSE in the OT (starting from Malachi).
Apart from Numbers 23:20, Esther is the only other book in the Bible (KJB) to contain the word REVERSE (in Esther 8:5 & 8:8). Both mentions are significant.
However, Esther being Book 23 in REVERSE in the OT and also containing the word REVERSE is just another way that God makes allusion to the 2023 Reversal and its significance.
I'm using the 2023 Reversal as just one example of unknown Biblical knowledge that is the result (in part) of the church not realizing that God gave us not just His general word, but the actual words He intended for us to have in the last days, even if the "translation" from an academic perspective, isn't the "precise" translation we might expect. Even "perceived" mistranslations in the KJB actually convey the brilliance of God concealing deeper things (Proverbs 25:2).
There are many things that God has now unsealed, that could only be revealed by God and validated by the Book of the LORD.
As another example, the mystery of the seven thunders in Revelation 10 has now been unsealed (as of 2022) as well.
We should talk.
I won't come with just argumentation, but with evidence of the power of God.
For example, God has verified the 2023 Reversal with real-world aids and signs.
Sharing these things is one of the things I attempt to do on my channel as part of my ministry.

I really like the New King James Bible out of all of them. Also, the kjv says that Catholics were the ones who invented the church of Jesus but we know that it was Christians and Catholics came a lot later but i wont even get into all of that because theres a lot of criticism i could expand on. There are some differences but i think they are pretty minor considering a lot of other bible versions are very different than the original manuscripts and to me, it dilutes God's words and i think that makes it less powerful. New King James version is my favorite and its easy to read and a lot of scholors agree that its the closest modern version Bible.

Thats because he believes everything he thinks is correct.. and I'm sorry, but 1 scholar with a conclusion that he quotes does not make it solid fact. It needs to be studied by multiple people. And for as many scholars that say he is right there are just as many that say the opposite. It also has no credibility when the people studying have a bias. And the way he puts things out especially concerning other people is done with no class and he literally just says they have no clue what they are talking about. I will give credit where it is do, Wes is very educated and a lot of what he says is fact. But also he has a bias that prevents him from seeing some things. I know some things he says are proven to be incorrect.

While I do agree with your application of 1 Corinthians 14 here, you should have made note of the fact that Paul was addressing speaking in tongues in that passage. While the principle still applies, and what Paul said is just as true of language barriers as it was of tongues. I think it's appropriate to briefly make note of that, and explain that it also applies to this issue.
Sometimes people will rip things wildly out of context, and other times people will strangle the full meaning of a text to a very rigid contextual meaning. It's important to highlight those nuances when we encounter them, so that people understand that this principle doesn't violate the context of the passage, and why it doesn't violate it. You don't need to be verbose, they can dig deeper if they want to, but it should be mentioned.

@@onlymyself7225 No I think you're being blinded by your own bias. Wes clearly says he still reads the King James Bible, as do a lot of Christians today. But he's also correct that some of the words used in the KJV have different meanings today compared to when the translation was written.
God doesn't protect translations, he protects his word. This is why the men who translated the KJV tell the reader in the preface that the KJV will need updating as the meaning of English words changes. Luckily for us, the KJV was updated as the translators requested, so a lot of people migrated to the NKJV.
I still listen to an audio version of the KJV but I also use other translations because the only "inspired" versions are the original Hebrew and Greek manuscripts. Translations are not inspired.

This is a great explanation. My pastor does use KJV but I think he explains it well. If I were to just read it I would have to pay close attention to contexts to get the meaning. I like the NKJV. Use kjv, esv, niv. When you're not sure about something get an explanation from ancient language scholars or watch them debate it. Or if you really want, learn the original languages yourself and read from the codices

I always come back to this point when people get all heated regarding the main translations . When one person says the KJV is the only God inspired version. What about all the other language bibles ? Spanish , Italian , Chinese , Vietnamese, Iraqi etc. Are they all NOT reading the true word of God just because they speak a different language. To suggest an English only version is the ONLY right version is incredibly arrogant . I truly believe God will give you exactly what you need if you search him sincerely with all your heart and will give you what you need out of whatever translation you are reading . Textual criticism uses man’s wisdom to discern the word of God. The word of God must be spiritually discerned not analytically discerned by man’s knowledge and methods

Learning to Read is also Man's wisdom, as well as learning to count. Without that knowledge you can't read the numbers or letters in the bible. It's important to understand that Man's wisdom comes from God, it is not in enmity with God when it is used for godly purposes.

You cannot spiritually discern what you cannot cognitively understand to begin with. Textual criticism is mostly about understanding the textual and grammatical elements that go into reading any written text, and not about discerning wisdom per se.
I was thinking of what you posted. But I didn't know how to put into words. But I spiritually felt my decernment was enough for me to believe that the Holy Spirit will help me decifer the message that God himself wants to reveal to me. I actually enjoy the challenge of knowing the meaning of the text I am reading. The Bible in my opinion is not so much that you become an expert on the text. But wholeheartedly, dive into the devine message of God to your soul. And the love that God has for each and every one of us.

I grew up KJV only, but over time I learned what Wes is saying is right, the meaning of words change. It's not heretical to think that scholars from hundreds of years ago would translate a foreign word into their "modern" english, it's okay to do the same thing today.

I started out with KJV and now I'm settled on NASB1995, I've read also in ESV and some in NIV. KJV was extremely challenging to navigate and I had to google a lot of the words in it, although I read it through and through, Nasb1995 is great 👍.

Shift your mind from being overly concerned about the intentions of some involved in the process and more on the consistency of doctrine throughout the scriptures. As a huge KJV fan, I loved the points you raised. The KJV sings to my heart but it isn't always an easy read. It requires pondering and extra leg work to get to an understanding. Now if you're the kind of person who enjoys study, that's wonderful. You'll gain such a lot. I agree though, understanding is key and language should not be a barrier. Personally, I think a great idea is to pick a complicated verse and read that verse in as many good translations as you can. You'll soon identify your personal go to translation. I'm not the most educated person. The things I had the hardest time with were the names of people or cities. There was a few times I had to look up some words but I honestly didn't find it that hard to follow. Take care

I have King James Version because I read somewhere that other bibles were revised a lot of times to fit into preset times. Although after learning who king James really was maybe I shouldn’t be reading at all.
I can understand at 50% only especially Old Testament since that language and meaning is impossible to translate.
What is that you recommended as a best and most logical bible?
I once tried to read Robin Hood, and the book I chose was for some reason in the form of English at the time of writing. It did not go well. English changes over time, so re-translating to modern English would be expected, unless you want each generation to be able to read an English translation less and less.

My favorite translation is the ESV. It has the same literalist approach as the KJV but translates it using a modern understanding of English instead of the archaic olden usage found in the KJV.
The KJV is a revision of the Bishops' Bible. The Bishops' Bible is a revision of the GREAT Bible. The GREAT Bible is a revision of the Matthews' Bible.

I would think the Jews would have the best understanding to translate the Bible since theirs is the culture from which the Bible was originally written.
As you point out, "halt" is used in the KJV multiple times, leading to the ability to compare uses, decide whether or not they make sense to me using my already known definitions, and then I can look it up if I'm not sure that I've got the word down pat. I acknowledge that our public education system no longer functions properly. Sadly, many younger people (I'm in my 60s) don't know any of the definitions of halt. Lame is just a mild slur to them, without meaning. Dumb only means stupid, and terrible always brings to mind jump scares. I, however, don't wish to lose the beauty of my bible for fear that someone else can't understand it. Christ called me using the KJV. He's taught me using it. I'm a KJV fan. :)
Read Noah Webster's Bible, which is essentially the KJV, but brought to mid-1800s American English with no doctrinal changes. He kept notes on every single change he made and why.

My father who will soon be celebrating his 81st birthday, the Lord willing, explained it very clearly to me. He was a high school drop out and volunteered for the Army, serving from 63 to 65. He didn't get saved until much later in 1981 and he read a KJV bible. His oldest sister was very learned, having gone to university and earning her degrees. She could not make heads or tails of the KJV bible, but what a university-taught lady could not understand, a high school dropout would read and the Lord would reveal the meaning to by His Holy Spirit. My father would pour over the bible for hours on end, weeping and crying out to God as he learned what all Jesus had saved him from and the wonderful gift of eternal life he'd been given.
Simply put, he told me that before you read the Word you should always pray for the Lord to give you understanding and to guide you. That you read it not by yourself but with Him at your side, trusting Him to lead and guide you into all Truth. My father knows the Word and understands it as well as anyone I've ever met and I know it's not some fancy learning that made it possible but his clinging to Jesus and trusting the Holy Spirit to guide him as he read.
Certainly the KJV is my favorite version to read and while I do have other versions and I do read them as well, it's mainly to help make the Word more available to people that don't really read it yet so I'm not putting them off from the beginning with words they might find confusing. I'll still use the KJV if they're willing to sit and listen to me explain it to them if they have trouble, but yes, for me I read the KJV and love it :)

My Dad and brother have recently turned kjv only because of a channel called Truth is Christ. It shows all of these crazy word counts and patterns and what not. These are not just crazy anomalies. The patterns are way too deep, exhaustive, layered, and profoundly accurate to be mere anomalies. If Jesus is the seventh Word from the beginning of the NT and the seventh word from the end of the NT in the KJV.....(as he is the beginning and the end) ....why is he found to be the 6th word from both the beginning and the end of the NIV New Testament?? Coincidence?? I think not!! The NIV promotes a different Jesus and a different gospel. Let it be accursed!
Yeah I have seen his videos too and i agree it’s not just some pseudoscience numerology stuff, it’s actually there. For example, the word “Amen” shows up 77 times in the Bible.
@@TrevoltIV Not to mention the fact that the grand total of the first and last words of Genesis 1:1 combined with the total of the first and last words of Revelation 22:21 with earth not being capitalized as it's found in the text and Amen being capitalized as it's found in the text, you discover an exact total of 77,777 words combining those total mentions in the KJV. That cannot be a mere coincidence and as you said, the word Amen as it is capitalized is found exactly 77 times in the KJV with Christ being the first and the last, the Amen, the true and faithful witness. And this is just one tiny example of hundreds and hundreds of astonishing patterns discovered within the past three years in the KJV. Men are now without excuse with regards to the perfection of the KJV. I find it more convincing in English than I even do the manuscripts. It's a supernatural work from beginning to end in the world language of English!!

There are exactly 980 pure mentions of the name Jesus in the NT.Those 980 mentions are divided perfectly equal between the odd and even books of the NT. Which is 70x7 in both odd and even. Yes, I think the NKJV is fine. I still personally would advocate for the ESV, NIV, NLT or NET before the NKJV (for textual reasons), but you’re certainly right that the NKJV is a very readable option and alternative.
@@WesHuff NIV is not a good translation - in Ephesians - it does not translate 'walk' as walk. The word is used consistently throughout the text - except in the NIV. There have been a number of other glaring problems with NIV - most fixed now I admit - but for a ling time it was not the best. Eg older versions said that Gad killed Goliath?? An obvious error - how did that ever get in there?

There's a small bit that I feel should've been said, here. You might have a video about it but I'm new to this channel! I think it's relevant to point out something that happens as a result of what you're saying, here, and I've got an awesome example:
I'd like to take a look at Exodus 22:18. The NIV version says, "Do not allow a sorceress to live." In modern English, I can see where the idea came from, as the KJV and GNV read, "Thou shalt not suffer a witch to live." They *sound* alike but that isn't what the word "suffer" meant nor is it in correct context with the phrase, "to live."
In fact, the Greek version of this text doesn't refer to a witch but, instead, it mentions "pharmakos," a Greek word that refers to magical potions. It says, as translated to English, "you shall not procure." The Hebrew version doesn't say this, though; it says to not accept services from a practitioner of magic in order to preserve your life. This is also consistent with the older meaning of "suffer," which is to be around or be in the presence of someone or something.
I mean, check my info to be fully in the know. It's just that, provided this information is true, even in part, that suggests that a tiny mistranslation has had a massive effect on the development of the faith in a way that is not in alignment with the truth. This feels, to me, like a highly important issue and further highlights the need for believers in Christ to seek Him and his truth, always, and continue to study the scriptures, even if you think you know them.
We don't update Shakespeare and I wouldn't suggest update the Bible with every breeze of new lingo. Context and word searches are simple learning opportunities you just gave several examples of the word halt in other places of the Bible. That's a part of studying and growth. The KJV is the greatest book ever written!!!!!!

I get the point but we actually have updated Shakespeare in the past, in part due to changes in printing technology. We also have simplified versions of Shakespeare, as well.
The KJV went through many updates for you to get the version today.
The Bible isn’t being updated but translations do get updated. If you want a very precise word-for-word translation, get an interlinear and do the hard work of discerning original context and meaning. For those unable or unwilling to do so, just get a good translation that is understandable and recognize that there are limitations (just like the KJV has limitations that aren’t present in other translations or the original languages).

The reason why newer translations aren't as good or even heretical is that they take away from the word of God. Mark 9:29 in kjv,nkjv,Young's Literal Translation and Geneva Bible all say "prayer and FASTING" when why the apostles couldn't cast out a boy's demon. All newer translations leave out Fasting which is taking away from God's Word. Beware of false translations

other examples of the kjv changing scripture is by defining consensual sex without the blessing of the womans parents is rape (which atheists take advantage of to say the bible is pro-rape) and translating the word servant as slave (also taken advantage of by atheists)
It depends on the manuscripts used, you have to remember that most modern Bible translations use much older manuscripts that the KJV translations didn't have because they weren't found until several hundred years after it was translated. The KJV isn't perfect, no translation is except the original handwritten books and letters.

Check out the Truth is Christ channel and you'll be totally convinced by the overwhelming numerical patterns and evidences that God has placed in the KJV which do not exist in ANY other modern translation. Eternal literally means without end…never lost!
Other versions compromises this with slight changes in words to imply that it is not finished but rather awaiting or still incomplete until we physically die. Changes the whole debate on salvation being lost or final.

Do we lose some of the cross references from book to book with the newer translations? Heard this as an argument against the newer versions, curious what you think? The argument goes if the wording is changed in one book differently then another then you would lose that cross reference and miss a valuable connection from Old Testament to new testament where you were intended to connect the dots. That’s really what’s holding me back from the ESV. Is this valid?
That’s actually incredibly invalid. You can get cross-references with footnotes for almost any translation. The idea is also, if I can be blunt, rather absurd since the only way you’ll get a full quote cross-reference is by reading a New Testament quote of the Old Testament, but those quotes are quoting a translation from the Hebrew, not the original Hebrew.
I memorised “charity vaunteth not itself” when I was young. I still laugh today when I think I had no idea what half the words in that phrase meant 😂😅

The KJV is completely defensible from the perspective of text criticism, but that's not the important point. The important point is theological. Why would God create the Bible perfectly in the autographs, then allow it to become completely changed by the random forces of history? And humans can reconstruct the original using reason and text criticism? That's deism, not theism.
The KJV English is much easier to understand than new translations. They just confuse it more. People can easily understand what "halt" means if they investigate a bit. We can understand the KJV uses archaic English. But if you have to decide between 50 different translations it's just more confusing.
The KJV is a superior translation in every possible way. Name a single verse of the Bible which some modern translation does a better job. Forget about your version of "intelligibility." If we can google the word, then it's fine. Find a single verse in the entire KJV which has a wrong translation. I can find a thousand in any modern version and they'll admit it since they're already working on their next edition for more profits.

Here are two verses that modern translations does a better job with: Titus 2:13 and 2 Peter 1:1. The reason being that the KJV translators had not yet discovered the Granville Sharp Rule for reading Greek. Due to this the KJV translates Titus 2:13, “Looking for that blessed hope, and the glorious appearing of the great God and our Saviour Jesus Christ.” In the original Greek, the words for “God” and “Savior” are joined by kai, and the definite article ho is only used once, preceding “God.” According to the grammar rule rediscovered by Sharp in the late 18th century, both God and Savior must refer to the same person, namely, Jesus Christ. However the KJV separates the two as distinct persons and therefore the strong emphasis on Jesus' divinity is not in this particular passage in the KJV where as it is clearly the intention of the author to emphasize Jesus' divine nature here. The same rule goes for 2 Peter 1:1, and likewise do to the lack of knoweldge of the ancient grammatical rule, they once again split "God" and "Saviour Jesus Christ."
As for a wrong translation I'd say that goes to Revelation 16:5 where the KJV translators erroneously went with conjectural emendation of Theodore Beza of "who shall be" in juxtaposition with all three of the base TRs they were using (Erasmus' editions, Stephanus' update, and Elzevir's text) and all the Greek manuscript readings, which read "the Holy one."

There is nothing in English grammar that would lead me to believe this is necessarily talking about two different persons. Although you might argue there is some ambiguity here, it is removed by a close reading of the context.
2 Peter 1:1 has a variety of textual variants in Greek. There's no reason to assume your reading is correct. There's no reason to assume God wants to demonstrate the divinity of Christ in this verse. Throughout the writings of Peter, the word God is used referring to the Father and Christ is referred to as Son, Lord, and Saviour (1 Pet 1:2, 3; 2:5; 3:18, 22; 4:11, 14; 5:10; 2 Pet 2:2, 17).
I'm not sure you're correct that "all" the Greek manuscript readings say "Holy One." It was certainly not the reading followed by Tyndale, Coverdale, the Geneva Bible, the Great Bible, or Mathew's Bible. As for the phrase "and shalt be," it is found in Elzevir's 1633 edition, so he updated it. Beza saw an error and acted wisely, following the preceding texts that contain this phrase (Rev 1:4, 8; 4:3; 11:17).

I do not recall that. The kjv is the only true word in English. Textual criticism is just that it is a slick term that really means man will change God's word. I used to be anti KJV. I have come to love it. I spent 10 years in the Hebrew roots movement and got all kinds of sideways about how to interpret the Bible and what is expected of Christians regarding the law of Moses. There is a verse in Acts (15:24) that makes it quite clear that Christians are not expected to keep the law, but that verse is only crystal clear when reading translations like the KJV or NKJV. Modern translations do not feature the part of the verse which says specifically that Christians are not expected keep the law or circumcise. Furthermore, I would like to state that it is not only the manuscripts that back up the King James which offer that extra information, but ancient Aramaic manuscripts such as the Eastern Peshitta and the Khaboris Codex also feature that phrase. God use this phrase in that verse to help me come out of the Hebrew roots movement.
The King James version is THE HOLY BIBLE for English speaking people.

There is no such thing as a King James Only controversy. There is only a “perfect Bible” controversy. KJV only people (such as myself) simply “dare” to believe that God kept His word to preserve His Scriptures. Side note, I used to be very anti King James. I thought it was antiquated and hard to read. Then about 5 years ago I decided to seriously study the Bible translation issue. What I discovered is that I had been wrong. When you actually take the time to research the issue you will see how the modern translation “bibles” have been altered in a way that absolutely DOES NOT honor God, specifically attacking the Deity of Jesus Christ, His sinless perfection, The Trinity, and many other critical areas of Christian doctrine. How most Christians think 100+ different versions of the Bible is “normal” is a mystery to me now that my eyes are open. Stop putting your trust in the “scholars” who have spent more time reading the writings of man than The Bible, and put your trust IN GOD and what HE HAS SAID about the Scriptures!

@ hello friend. That is a very simplistic view of this issue. It is SO MUCH more than that. If you care to read, here’s my story of how I became King James only.
When I first began my walk with Christ, I was perplexed with the MANY different translations. I eventually settled on the NASB. It is the translation that a very well known and respected Pastor that I follow uses at his church, and one that is supposed to be among the “most literal translations”. Sounded good enough for me, so thats what I began using as my “go-to”. I also chose to compliment that with a NIV study Bible and a NKJV study Bible......
Now..... Fast forward a bit. One day I came across someone in my travels, and the topic of Bible translations came up. I quickly discovered that he was a member of the “dreaded” “King James Only” group. I had never come across this group before, and it honestly seemed a bit cultish to me at first. He began to tell me how all the “modern translations” had been corrupted and altered, and that the ONLY pure and true English translation was the King James. My response to him was something along the lines of.....
“That’s ridiculous! There are a lot of legitimate translations. Many of them just have updated language that make it easier for a modern reader to understand”
He went on to explain how even my beloved NASB and NIV (and many others) had been corrupted by unscrupulous translators and so forth. He continued, and said that even the New King James has been altered, and has dangerously changed Gods Truth.
Ok..... So now I’m thinking that this guy must be crazy....... But I thought about it for a while. I then purposed in my heart that I wanted, above all else, the TRUTH. If what he was saying to me was actually true, I wanted to know about it, and it was worth the time it took me to find out! I decided to do some research on this topic. The short answer to what I discovered is that he was, in fact, CORRECT!
There is a lot of VERY compelling evidence that the modern translations are, in part, corrupt and HAVE BEEN altered in a way that absolutely DOES NOT honor God, specifically attacking the Deity of Jesus Christ, His sinless perfection, The Trinity, and many other critical areas of Christian doctrine.

Now I’m not going to try to convince you of this. But I do want to DESPERATELY URGE you to diligently take the time to look into this. Don’t brush this off as I almost did! Purpose it in your heart to seek Gods truth in this matter, no matter where it takes you! I promise you, it WILL BE worth it!

I can now say, without reservation, I am unapologetically a member of the King James Only group. After seeing the evidence in favor of that position, I can’t in good conscience go back. I just can’t. At times, I literally felt sick to my stomach as I saw how some passages of the modern translations have been altered, and the implications that those changes have.
In the same way that when I came to know Christ, I felt compelled to tell others about the gospel, I now feel absolutely compelled to share this information with my brothers and sisters in Christ. This is SO IMPORTANT because there is SO MUCH error in people’s theology and it is being perpetuated by CORRUPT translations.
On a side note, I used to think the King James was difficult to read. It absolutely is not! It’s beautiful, and I have never felt closer to Jesus during my Bible time, then I do while reading from The King James!

If you don't understand what a word means, look it up. Once you understand the word then test it to make sure of it's consistency. I studied Greek and Latin bases and learned to immediately look up words to understand what it really means.

Thanks! Yes, "supernatural" claims and numerology stuff is common but almost completely baseless. Every cult and religion can find that type of stuff if you really want to find it, very rarely (if ever) is it grounded in anything that's either realistically falsifiable or doesn't have a paragraph of caveats to make such conclusions.
The KJV is best. Though if reading it is too hard or keeps you from reading, read something else. The consistency of the translation throughout is so good, and very noticeable if you are reading the whole Bible and really getting into just Bible reading and cross references.
Some people can’t handle it tho. for some reason.

The KJV is a remarkable & beautiful piece of literature. It's derived from the Textus Receptus. From my studies, it's a very accurate translation. Way better than the critical text, which almost all bibles are translated from nowadays.
I'm not KJV only, but if I'm reading another version & I need clarification, I go back to the KJV for clarity.

When I am doing my academic work I settle on the ESV. Naturally as one who spends a great deal of time in the MSS I see the translation biases but honestly I could not do a better job. The last thing I want is for my translation to agree with me perfectly for fear of an echo chamber.

I am a longtime Christian in claim only. When I read a book of the Bible I go to a Bruce Gore study of that text for interpretation and then re-read that book so that I get my own understanding. There is far more confusion in the text outside of terminology, such as almost everything mentioned in Revelations.
I am not KJV only per say. I just havent found a modern version that does not rub my soul the wrong way in certain places with some of there changes. Nowadays I always advise people to at least compare them but of corse reading a newer translation is better then no translation, assuming it is for the most part a word for word translation save the order of how we say things differently in english.
