    Ron, this is a very nice and educational video. I like the soil mixture that you use. The plant really does look thriving and super healthy. I keep forgetting to add charcoal to my mixture, that is a great idea. Thanks Ron. Love your videos. Btw your hair looks great.

    Just a little advise I’m from a Jamaica Thai cons a prone to root rot i would suggest that you always use a clear pot for this type of plant as it’s easier to monitor the roots without having to repot to see the roots 😊 even though I know you use a chunky mix just a suggestion 😊

    • @IRONWEED_
      @IRONWEED_ ปีที่แล้ว +6

      I had a Thai Con in chunky mix, let it dry out thoroughly, and it still got root rot 😥 RIP. I now have another in leca and it is thriving. Everyone's environment is different, just mentioning mine.

    • @SuchPlants
      @SuchPlants  ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Oh no! I love/hate leca. It’s so easy but I always forget to change the water 😅🥹

    • @charlottecobain6986
      @charlottecobain6986 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      letting plant roots go fully dry almost always causes rot when you water again. Leca is for sure the way to go with super expensive or precious plants 💚💚 also clear pots for sure so you can monitor the health of the roots

    I'm watching your video sitting in my plant room and I realized how few varigated plants that I have.
    It seems like your potting mix would be very good for those of us that are heavy-handed when it comes to watering.
    On a side-note the shoyu chicken looked ono.

    • @SuchPlants
      @SuchPlants  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Variegated plants are so cool! But too expensive!
      Also, shoyu chicken is best made with chicken thighs lol (I used chicken breast since that’s what I had on hand but still ono) 😆🤙🏼

    Bummer, I just found your channel today when I searched for Pink Princess care. I watched your video where you repotted yours. It's a beautiful plant. I've watched some videos of people that have grown their pink princess tall, but it's scraggly , I love how yours is fuller. You have a lot of beautiful plants.

    Hey just curious, could you have turned the Thai constellation into 2 separate plants or is it too young for that?

    • @SuchPlants
      @SuchPlants  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Safest time to separate is when there are aerial roots visible. Sometimes they can be young but you can still see aerial roots on the stem!

    I don’t know if I’m doing it wrong, but I feel like you replant things into pots that are really small. I always been told to get the roots 2 inches in each direction. It looks like you gave it a half a centimeter on each side.
    do you report frequently?

    • @SuchPlants
      @SuchPlants  ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Yes part of the reason is I don’t have a lot of incremental pot sizes. The other reason is I would rather repot into a marginally bigger pot instead of a pot that is much too large because it can easily retain too much moisture and cause root rot. Plants don’t mind being dry for a few days. But being wet for a few days can easily cause root rot. It’s easy to add more water; it’s hard to remove water! When the roots are suuuuuper root bound, then maybe I’ll repot into 2” bigger. 😊 Hope that makes sense!

    • @whitleynicole3416
      @whitleynicole3416 9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      So, the bigger the pot, the more root growth you get. The smaller the pot (because most things like to be snug) the more leaf growth! So, if you plant is severely root bound, by all means pot up. But, I've found a lot of folks unnecessarily pot up instead of just repotting with fresh soil mix--and will continuously do it until the pot is entirely too large and the plant either dies from root rot or stops growing leaves entirely and the person keeps potting and unpotting and kills the plant by messing with it too much.
      LD;DR: a snug plant is a happy plant. Repot in the same pot until you just cannot possibly fit it in there anymore. THEN do the 2in larger repot!

    Hey Ron , tanks for the upload….. just curious on where you order your tropical plants from or what plant store do you go to…. I’m here in Vegas from Hawaii and the only store I usually go to is the big box store or like star nursery…. Please help, Mahalo nui brahdah 🤙🏽🤙🏽🤙🏽🌺💋

    • @SuchPlants
      @SuchPlants  ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Big Box and Star Nursery are still good options for good prices! But if you want rares or uncommons, then you can try LV Plant Collective (local small business) located downtown. They’ve hosted pop ups for Ecuagenera a few times. Also Carrie Lynn’s at downtown Summerlin, but they are generally overpriced. Oh and Botany located in Henderson side-really cool greenhouse setup! Otherwise, gotta go online like Etsy, or one of my faves Peace Love & Happiness Club. I’ve also ordered from Steve’s Leaves. Or you can go to the local fb community page “LV Plant People”, people do purges often or you can ask to buy a specific plant off someone or trade. Haha lots of good options once you start diving in! 🤙🏼🤙🏼🤙🏼

    Looks great, do you recommend using plastic pots for monsteras as opposed to clay? I have my thai con in a clay pot and it hasn’t done too much since I’ve had it.

    • @SuchPlants
      @SuchPlants  ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I would recommend plastic pots if the plant isn’t well-acclimated yet. It’s easier to gauge if the soil is dry in a plastic pot (it feels lighter). Also, you can squeeze the pot to help aerate the soil.

    • @maricarol85
      @maricarol85 ปีที่แล้ว +1
