When comparing Accutron electrostatic with Seiko spring drive it needs to be pointed out the Seiko utilizes the stored energy of a mainspring whereas the Accutron stores energy in a rechargeable capacitor. Unlike a mainspring which lasts for many decades the capacitor, like a battery, will require periodic replacement. The early Accutron tuning fork watches had convenient battery removal. How does the new watch compare?

Thanks for the information packed video. I've been in love with the vintage 214s for years but had trouble finding nice examples. The release of the 2020 has meant many 60s models have been restored and come to the market. I can't quiet afford the 2020 but hope to have a beautiful 214 soon!

Guys - why you dont say that accutron 2020 is simply a quartz movement with its own battery driving the hour and minute hands. Then they have added a independently driven seconds hands powered by electrostatic motor, at the cost of making the watch horribly thick and massive.
What was the design target? Create a silly quartz watch with a silly sweeping seconds hands and a few silly rotors on the dial? Target achieved.
Next revision of the design: add a recording with the original sound, "uhmmmmmmm". Obviously, they will needo make it 18mm thick instead of the current 16mm

I would buy the watch without seeing the watch because I know you guys will make a nice watch! I would love to see a Kristian Haagen edition that would have a little more 'crazy', colorful or adventurous design and a Nick Meijer edition that would be more refined and classic but with some nice details. I think if both of you have your own edition it would make you even more proud that just having a watch together and that could be a nice accomplishment for what you have done in the watch industry so far. I really hope your idea will become true because you guys really deserve it!

Thank you for the suggestion! Super idea, although mixing thoughts and taste with my buddy Kristian is also a tempting challenge..

What is the oscilator in this movement what measures the time ?
You say it`s a quartz movement ? So it should be a quartz mineral controled by tunning fork.
What for is the rotor on 10`o clock than ?

If you could make a skeleton chrono that is easy to read. That would be a major achievement.
