Imagine a striker being so prolific that people downgrade him for not scoring in 3-4 matches and missing opportunities. While I can't deny the fact that Alvarez overall is a better player than Halland, but presence of Haaland is just something else. He is a nightmare for teams. They have to put at least 2-3 players in defence to just to block him. While Julian is a complete player, the presence of Haaland opens up the options for being clinical for city. Both are different kinds of players, I won't say one is better than the other.

As a Man city' fan, Haaland always disappoints in big, important and difficult games. I've lost the respect and confidence i have in him when it comes to big and difficult games. But Julian Alvarez is a confirmed and complete big game player. When it comes to important and difficult games, Alvarez never disappoints. He doesn't miss too many goal scoring opportunities like Haaland does.He is a complete and well rounded player compared to Haaland. Now that KDB is out injured, Haaland is seriously underperforming.but Alvarez always comes to the rescue of Man city when it matters most.

I'm not easily moved by a player that scores too many goals or too many hatricks in games and fails to score when it matters the most. scoring 5 in the first match and then scoring 0 in the next 4 matches is also a goal per match but that also means you lose those 4 matches you didnt score. Haaland is great but the football that city play he is mostly isolated, Julian would fit in more better as a striker.
Julian Alvarez has had an impressive start to the season for Manchester City. 4 goals 3 assists, creating chances, making plays and looking energetic he has stepped up after the injury to Kevin De Bruyne and the loss of Ilkay Gundogan and he is thriving in that SS/CAM role behind Erling Haaland and you can argue that he can be more important to the team than the Norwegian robot, since he brings more to Manchester City than just goals and assists. His role in this side has grown, he has benefitted with patience and now as a starter, we're seeing Julian Alvarez at his very best for his team and he's set for more goals/assists and also more excellent performances and when everyone's fit, it'll be interesting to see if he keeps his starting spot for Manchester City.

They are different, Haaland is a #9 and will keep settings records. Alvarez is a #10, and will get better and better. To me is harder to set up plays and assist others and is what Alvarez is. Both are excellent at their position.
I like to see Alvarez play. I am not a Manchester City fan; but if I see Julian Alvarez playing, I keep watching the game. If Julian doesn't play, then I have no problem watching something else. In a team like MC both players are very important, but you need a creator of opportunities like Julian. If I had the choice between the two to bring to La Liga; I would choose Julian over Haaland, any day.

😂 Alvarez fan boys appears the few times he scores. The amount of times he shots he has to score in the end. He shoots when other players are better positioned, he shoots from hopeless angles etc. if you shoot 100 times, you will wcore some goals. He never sets up Haaland though. Im Argentinian, but i try to be objective about football, taking all in consideration and beside i really like Haaland as N° 9 (on the box is lethal) i think Alvarez is overall a more complete player, maby it doesn't have the luxurys or ways like Haaland to score but it has the same efectivity and he runs like a demon the WHOLE match, pressing and driving the ball. Djeez, a lot of people who dont know much football here. After KDB got injured the way they use Haaland is horrible, or should I say NOT use Haaland. He is best turned towards the goal and I can see he gets frustrated when he starts his runs but never receive the ball. When he does receive the ball its either behind him, too far in front of him or in too tight spaces. We never see him get the ball in the positions he was lethal last season. If Haaland initiates his break clause Alvarez will become even more important than he is now. Haaland won’t score if he’s not given the service. He’s not Sergio who would come deep to pick up and City are struggling a little in midfield this season, against the better teams, with KDB injured and Gundogan and Mahrez gone who were both key to last season’s success especially Gundogan. It takes time to replace players like that and I am not sure Kovacic is there yet.
