    Technical High schools played such an important role. In std 6 and 7 the pupil had the opportunity to experience various technical fields, then make a decision in which field he/she wants to continue.
    From std 8 to 10, they focused on the field of interest. By end of matric the pupil walked out with a technical N3 and good practical skills.
    Then they could start a proper apprenticeship with a N6 if so desired, or go to Technicon and obtain a National diploma. And so forth.
    Private companies don't want to offer apprenticeships today. They want to pay low salaries and keep employees at semi skill level but expert artisan performance.
    SA government has failed the youth.

    I am also a facilitator I teach Auto body repair s the skills courses are not enough time for students to absorb we must do apprenticeship

      Yes I fully agree, it's not possible to gain a qualification in the short period of time, example 3 or even in 6 months primary the automotive repair industry

    I am a facilitator teaching student skill courses i just to say the skills courses are to short its not enough

      Are the said courses then not sufficient training for the skills needed?
      What is the feedback from the employers?
