When ive had situations like this, i tend to be nice to them, but try to lead them down a path to incriminate themselves in the messages and then call ebay.
Although it does sound dodgy you should still stay professional. I would have simply apologised and told them to return it. If they open a return this will happen anyway. Once its back then you can check serial numbers, condition etc and speak with eBay if needed. You will always have the 50% refund as a last resort. You have to remember that there is a chance it did arrive broken. They would then rightly be angry, especially when called a liar. Which is something else you need to be careful about, if they report you it wouldn't look good. A rule I have, if I get a negative feedback or a message that is annoying, I always leave it a good hour before replying. Time to calm down and remember my overall account health is worth more than the one sale. Good luck, also what does her feedback, and feedback left for others say? Its always worth checking.
They sent the first message saying i sent it broke and not once shown the broken pieces. I don't care about the person if they speak to me like that first. I'm not working in a shop I can't sack myself.
I agree with Ginagold. Try to get to the bottom of the facts, stay professional, most likely a courier issue and ultimately a business write off. I appreciate this is a rather unique example where this has personal connection and hence more emotion but I always look at each item as a simple cost write off. The balance comes in all the positive profits versus these types of incidents.
I think she was scamming you Jon , that juicer looked immaculate and I bet your dad didn't even use it hardly, everything I've had off you has been top notch, the soup makers brilliant and your mam always packs things super impenetrable 😂 she's an excellent packer!! I couldn't do that to someone it's dishonest why can't people just actually be honest in this day and age!! X
Back to basics this week for me and a reset, schedule. schedule, and drafting more, ive too many clothes that dont fit due to getting a belly, there getting put on just for a listing, got a new system to try
i sold a nikon camera last year for £270, got great feed back but 3 weeks later they sent me a message its faulty, i didnt want to give refund but ebay made me, got it back and it was a total wreck i complained to ebay over and over again, all they could do was apologise, ebay stinks dont sell on that platform anymore.
The only thing you can do is accept the return report them to eBay then eBay will most likely refund both of you but you will have to report them to action fraud and get a case number then give the case number to eBay I've had this type of fraud happen a few times
@@JonSheppardsells I would still report them to eBay then block them it's always the same at this time of year people trying it on trying to get something for free I sold a camera last week he wanted a next day delivery used it and then opened a returns saying it wasn't working
Not mentioned in listing 😂😂😂😂 I had one contact me about a TV this week and ask if the TV I’m selling has any cracks in. I replied those who look for problems usually generate problems
Dont let the odd scammer get you down although thats easier said than done as it feels personal when you feel like your being done over. I dont do partial refunds anymore , if your unhappy return it for full refund 9 out of 10 times they keep it. Dissaponited , upset too long a story always a red flag . She 100% a scammer
Definite scammer Jon. I usually see the good in people and don’t think they’re necessarily scammers but she definitely is. I think she’s used it then dropped it as she’s been washing it out. It’s frustrating when you know a buyers damaged it. Tbh though I’ve no time for it. I just message them saying I know they’ve damaged it but just to open a return through eBay and I’ll refund on receipt. Not worth any more if your time. Plus if she does return it you can sell the non damaged parts and you’ll get the £110 back that way
Sounds like they had a broken one their end, and wanted to pull a fast one on your one! Taken pics of their broken bits claiming it to be the one you sent them!!!
Sadly Eeeeebay won't listen, issue 50% on your 1 chance offer or make a claim from courier, sad really. I had an issue yesterday on a Carmen vintage curlers (45 years old) customer said fail PAT test. Not a legal requirement ? and who has a PAT tester at home, didnt trigger my rcd box
@@JonSheppardsells Would be no use to you or me lol, but the technical ins and outs of the way PAT tester works in 2 messages (not enough characters) was a bit overwhelming, Done electronics all my life, "Granny sucks eggs" Blocked refund move on, see you in Hitchin
@JonSheppardsells yeah I figured that out Jon It's not worth the bother last time I complained and gave eBay a piece of my mind it made no difference whatsoever ( little fish big ocean ) kinda feeling
And right jon we made a £70 offer on ebay to this bloke for a stinky pete he wanted £80 turned me down then put the item up to £85 so i messaged him back explaining and i told him you dont actually have to become srinky pete the prospector ripping ebay buyers off! "Thanks mate" that was the reply kindness is free! Your blocked , he blocked me for questioning his motives apparently he does it alot to people if you read his reviews do you think thats fair asking a set price then bumping it up again and again😡x
I did it. I scammed a new bender 🎉
😂😂😂 I'll let you off

Yeah, I did this, but not so nice. Will see tomorrow if I get anything from them

No reply, no Ebay request so that tells you alot. A scammer that lost
Yeah, good news. However, and I speak from experience, sometimes you never win and just have to smile and be professional.
@shep8914 I guess I usually am but not when it's a obviously lie
The phase " how should we sort this" is a red flag. If it had arrived in poor state the buyer would be demanding full refund upon return
Definitely so dodgy

That's bad you should of had seller protection then you would of never had to refund the person if it was in such a bad state.

She definitely sounds like a scammer. Can’t believe people do that’s is really bad. Hopefully she’s realised she can’t mess with you.
She picked on the wrong seller
😂😂 the water in the jug picture just says it all she’s trying to scam you
Yeah that was weird
They always leave long gaps with messages thinking what to reply with next
