Now there is no proper or improper way of reciting Gurbani (hymns of Gurus contained in Guru Granth Sahib).
Recite it with love, dive into it, recite it from your soul!!! You can do so while sitting, standing, walking ,sleeping, working, driving. Understand that these hymns are nothing but love and people devise various methods in order to develop devotion. That’s all!
If your soul is filled with love! love for yourself, love for everyone, love for the universe , then you are doing it absolutely right.
Guru Granth Sahib is nothing but a love encompendium for God. Methods are devised by us. Do what suits you. What does for you. Don’t bother about methods. Just increase love. Of course we read Guru Granth Sahib after washing our hands, without wearing footwear, with head covered as a mark of respect for the Guru ( wisdom) and to receive the wisdom one should go with humility and that’s how you will see these things being done in the Gurudwara ( SIKH temple). Check out regarding the Golden temple( the Vatican of the Sikhs) on the web and you could see the veneration with which service is performed.
Love is all that is.
The tenth Guru , Guru Gobind Singh (who bowed before the Guru Granth Sahib and gave it title of ever living Guru of the Sikhs) said “Jin Prem kiyo tin hi Prabh payo” - Only the one who is filled with love , realises God !!

@@davidt90 The hymn at 8:46 is also from the same holy book of Sikhs “Guru Granth Sahib” at page no 271.The first hymn is from page no 262. It’s a compilation known as “Sukhmani Sahib” ( Sukh means Peace and Mani means jewel - Jewel of peace - basically mantras for peace).
I have written the details of both the hymns and their translation in the comments. You can find it in my second comment beginning “ The Roman English translation.... “. I somehow can’t copy paste it here and can edit it only. Go past my first comment which begins with “ Thank you Ajeet....” and after few mire comments you will find the second comment. These beautiful people are Amrit Khalsa Sikhs, or just Sikhs. So the religion is Sikh, from northern India in the Punjab. But the music is for everyone. It is created in the Naad, which means the Divine sound current. You could think of it as the frequency of universal Love, which opens the portal to your highest Self. The English translation can be found on the net. An app “Gurbani Anywhere” can be downloaded and gives you the original Punjabi text, the Roman English text followed by the English translation.
Of course Gurbani is so deep, so pure that these translations are quite shallow and really the interpretation is only as deep as the one trying to translate it. But still it gives the general drift.
