At the beginning of the documentary when the firefighter is going through that paperwork, listing the names of the missing (deceased) firefighters and how many kids they each have. At the 3:58 mark you hear him say, “Scottie Davidson, two little kids.” That’s Pete Davidson’s dad. 🥺
Pete is a good example of what happens when you grow without a father, he's a weirdo mess who can't hold a relationship and is desperate for attention constantly and will do anything to get it, including pretending to be suicidal
my dad, great grandad and 9/11 are what inspired me to become a firefighter. now 11 years later, i now serve as a firefighter in my hometown's volunteer fire department. The memories of this day and my fallen brothers will forever live in my heart!
Yes your so right they were murdered. I cannot even begin to imagine what they all went through in those towers sheer horror. Everyone of you will always be remembered God bless them all 🇬🇧
23 years have just passed. And this is still so difficult to comprehend the evilness of the attacks. So many innocent souls were taken in the most horrific way! And poor people, real heroes are still dying. I wonder how many of these great men and women have passed since this was filmed? Rest in eternal peace, unity and love. God bless you all brothers and sisters. From UK 🇬🇧🙏🇺🇸🫡🕊✨️
These superfluous commercials should have been banned as they are for most 911 stories. How dare they cut off these incredibly painful stories. They are disrespectful. Thank you for this story. It's an education for younger generations. It's vital that all of us remember.
This brings back chills, seems not that long ago either. The day is etched in my mind after watching this, so so brave and courageous. Total respect for fdny!!!!.
Thank you for making this documentary about our firefighter heroes. One of the most disturbing things i heard 9/11 was the firemens alarms going off. Knowing most of those firemen parishad..... These heroes ignored orders to evacuate and went back up the tower stairs to save more people. RIP, you'll never be forgotten.
It's miraculous that 22 years later I'm watching guys say here that they'll retire now (understandably so!). But the next vids YT has in my queue are recent interviews with them saying they just retired. The Human spirit is God given, hopeful, strong, resilient and entirely inexplicable.
I saw one of the surviving firemen say in a contemporary doco that they didn't just lose 343 firefighters - they lost 4000+ years of FDNY experience - that might explain why...
You cannot measure the experience that was lost. All four specialized Rescue units and crews were lost that day. There is an amazing documentary about Rescue Company 1. I believe that it is called "Still Riding - Rescue Company" th-cam.com/video/zLuS6UkTbF4/w-d-xo.html Those four crews, many of which knew every inch of the buildings and structures in their area of responsibility. At this time, the total amount of deaths attributed to POST-9/11 related diseases cannot accurately be determined. If you were FDNY and at ground zero, got sick and used your department health benefits, there was a possibility of being forced to retire from the department.
I remember the exact moment where I was and everyones reactions. I was in 8th grade in the cafeteria when it came on the TVs. Like many others this was the reason I went to the United States Air Force Academy then later flew F-16s. This memories of this day will always be etched into my memories.
None of those men got short changed. ❤️ Hundreds of millions of people worldwide have saluted all these men. Before, during, and after their funerals. They will all go down in history as heroes. #NeverForget
They did get short changed though - their governments gaslighted them & dragged their feet about providing them with adequate healthcare when they got sick from the pile. Go watch John Stewart address congress - he rips them to shreds about it.

Great documentary. Only thing is the weird commercials with the falling. Obviously this was from an overseas channel but still very strange. Besides that it was very touching. I'm trying to imagine the pain and stress these firefighters and the families of missing felt during this time and I'm sure like the one guy said it was torture.
And by the way- when Richie jokes about Scott “stealing” somebody’s shirt- it’s because Scotty was always wearing other guys uniform shirts or sweatshirts. He didn’t STEAL, he borrowed. Scott and I were in proby school together, and we were mutual partners inLadder 118 for two years. He had a great sense of humor. That’s where Pete gets it. I thought the same thing! She build up his sadness talking about his ‘firefighter friends’ then was just like don’t be sad..then never hugged him when he looked devastated 💔
Yeah- in my experience, people tell someone "don't be sad" either because they don't know what else to say or because they actually want the other person to get over what ever is upsetting them because they are (usually) self-centered & can't stand being out of the spotlight any longer to comfort the grieving person or remember those lost
i do not need to say that those first responder survivors and workers when through a trauma on 9/11 but i will try to explain what happens to the mind and body Trauma is often the result of an overwhelming amount of stress that exceeds one's ability to cope, or integrate the emotions involved with that experience the brain says "this is too much i think i am going to die" so it stopes all normal functions including memory processing and conserves energy to get the body through the trauma Initial reactions to trauma can include fight flight or freeze which intern can look like exhaustion, confusion, sadness, anxiety, agitation, numbness, dissociation, confusion, physical arousal, and blunted affect. Most responses are normal in that they affect most survivors and are socially acceptable, psychologically effective, and self-limited. then maybe months or years later the brain finds this event and is like "wait i did not process this" and so survivors of 9/11 may have PTSD full or partial flash backs symptoms may be the feelings of touching or the smell of hospital and other sensation
Remembering that day now, it is still surreal that those events took place even though I and many watched it unfold second by second. In just a short period of time so many people lost their lives and changed the vibe and attitude of North America and eventually the world due to evil actions of few and deceptive motives still blurred till this day. When the truth comes out, if it ever will, will ultimately Awaken the whole western hemisphere and change everything as the masses are told to know and the reality most perceive it by. May God rest all those souls and bless those who were there that day to help in any way shape or form. May God's judgement be just in those who lurk in the shadows who are really to blame.
How dare they do that on these people and I hope that the murderers and every person involved should rot in hell for what they done to the people of this horrible event,,, God bless ya all

The world is tearing itself apart but watching from the UK where we have our problems but it just seems like America especially is on the verge of imploding. I’m old enough to have seen 9/11 as it happened glued to the tv watching in sheer disbelief at the horror unfolding before us. In the days that followed it seemed like the world was United in grief….how quickly people forget and the conspiracy theories start. One of the saddest and perhaps most disturbing things to happen in the aftermath of 9/11 is the fact that people….often young people who weren’t even born then are willing to believe that an American President would bring the two towers down just so they could go to war. First it’s like rubbing salt into the wounds of every relative who lost someone that day. Secondly Al Queada must be dancing with glee, they don’t have to do anything more, if they never did another terror attack again they will still have achieved more than they could ever possibly imagine by causing chaos, mistrust and conspiracy. I get what you're saying but go ahead and 👍 like it. That #has more than doubled this year and continues to rise. Many of these men documenting the event have died or are dying due to 9/11 related illnesses. And that's just firefighters not to mention other first responders and residents of the area. 9/11 will continue to kill for the next 50 years. When a station loses its firetrucks, where do the replacements come from? They can't be quick to manufacture -- they're sophisticated pieces of machinery! Or can they? The heroes who died in the WTC were warriors who went to fight an impossible foe, that had every possible advantage over them.
The department has a fleet of reserve apparatus (trucks) that they used until new trucks were delivered. A rush order was placed to complete the delivery of existing orders made prior to 9/11
Funny you should ask- As the previous commenter stated, the FDNY holds some “aged-out” apparatus in reserve. But Ladder 118was a tiller rig (where there is a second steering wheel in the back). After 9/11 the FDNY had no spare tiller rigs. Ladder 118 was “without a rig” for about two weeks. It was a crazy time.
I will never understand why air water tankers weren't called in from all surrounding areas. Those firefighters were left to climb 70+ floors to fight alone. People being told to go back to their offices in tower two is obscene to me. As a child of a firefighter, I know you need to fight fire with everything you've got. You also must err on the side of caution. Neither of which was done. It cost thousands of people their lives.
How would dropping water have helped? It couldn't penetrate through dozens of floors of concrete & reach the fires. Does NYC even have firefighting helicopters? I don't imagine they have a use for them - they're designed for wildfires, not a dense city. If you spoke to your firefighter parent they could explain these basic errors in logic you're making. As for erring on the side of caution - what?! They took all the precautions they could - they were never going to refuse to do their jobs though if that's what you meant.

The time between the north tower getting (0846) hit and the south tower collapsing (10:00) was one hour and 14 minutes. Mustering troops, mobilizing them into lower Manhattan and up 70 flights of stairs takes a lot longer than an hour and 14 minutes.
Interesting fact, father Michael is the only deceased person ever shown in videos made available of the time. An interesting thought is whether or not emergency services truly saved as many as they lost. Most people saved themselves so one really has to wonder if the loss was even worth it? The unity of those days is sorely needed today. The world went to shit from that day.
He wasn't. His photo just became famous - but the firemen who were carrying him out of the rubble were not happy about those pictures being taken & yelled at the photographer.
