Avoiding unwanted buzz on sax

  • Sometimes a screw on the saxophone may be loose. Typically the screw for the lyre, the ligature or possibly the thumb rest screw. There could also be another screw somewhere else on the instrument that’s worked its way loose over time. You may become aware of this less through hearing it than feeling a vibration come up through your top teeth and into your skull. Check your instrument to see if this is the case and hopefully you will be able to eliminate the problem. Buzz in the tone itself is another topic!

    You need to adopt a double lip embouchure and keep your teeth off. Teeth are for masticating food, not playing Saxophone

    It could also be a felt missing or a rod being loose and vibrating
