About the challenge, it is called Hallelujah Challenge and it is hosted by Nathaniel Bassey a Nigerian gospel minister here on TH-cam. It is usually a one hour gathering where we worship, praise and pray everyday during the duration of the challenge. You can check his TH-cam channel for a glimpse of what it's like. Been joining the challenge since 2017 and I have no regrets whatsoever 🥰

About your worry, to the best of my knowledge, entrance exams (especially for chemistry) are usually taken after landing in Japan. Depending on your plan/arrangement with the graduate school, it could come immediately after landing or few months later. Based on this, there is little to nothing to worry about because since you will already be in Japan, you can maximize the help of those that are your senior colleagues. Your professor and graduate school can even help you link up with students ahead of you that could advise appropriately on how you can better prepare for the exam. Also, you can connect with Africans in your department who have been there before you and they could also assist. Don't worry too much, you will be fine.

He didn't leave because he doesn't have papers to stay back (we are both PR) but like I said in the write up, he took time off from what he is doing in Japan because he couldn't just quit. His time off is over and he had to return back to Japan.

I think it felt tougher because I was wishing that flight issue didn't happen because that's why we couldn't maximize his time off so well and have him stay longer with me before going back to resume 🥹
What questions were you asked at the port of entry as a pr holder?
Just basic questions like where we came from? etc. they didn't really ask much because they wanted to see documents
