Great chat guys! All good points about being a collector and the influence on it, from having a TH-cam channel. All great advice too! Good to see you two and thanks for sharing!
Great Chat Guys! Friday night still Here. Very good points about collecting and having a TH-cam channel! Tom just count your Blessings that Jr has left home. Hopefully he is finding some Warm biscuits somewhere! Nice to see the both of you again!
I started collecting about two years ago. This community and you guys kept me from going crazy at a hard time in my life. Some of the nicest people I have ever met and I have learned soo much from all of you. I mean it when I say thank you all soo much. And thank you RJ for sacrificing for us the knife community. This one's for RJ!!!
@@alexishatjialexiou7509Thank you, Alex. I’m glad that through this hobby that we, the knife community, were able to help you make it through. I sincerely hope that all is better now. Cheers!
RJ deserves the praise! He certainly helped me out when I first got started. Glad we could help you through some hard times. We all go through them. Keep charging, Alex!
It's Wonderful to see you Both. Just like having a chat with very dear friends. Wishing a Happy New Year to you guys, and your families. Looking forward to seeing you again in the near future! All The Best, Dingo.
@knifedelights7473 yeah i did. You as well my friend, thanks. You folks stay warm out there Tom. The temp is currently sitting at 9° and the windchill is -1° here in western Pa.
Good to see you guys smiling faces! RJ, yours was the first live I found when I got back into knife collecting. That was mid 2023 when Tom was your sidekick. That was a great show! And this chat today was excellent! Thanks guys! 👍 Cheers, Dubya
Put on a good show as usual. Thank you for sharing a little bit of your family history about the wars in your email. Thank you for the stickers and the note you wrote me. Look forward to more of your videos. Keep up the good work, my friend.
Nice chat and rant guys. I really like this community. As a youtube consumer I have observed so many new creators over the past 10 years it does seem to have become a competition. I didn't like that so I had to make decisions as to who I was able to and who I wanted to watch on a regular basis. Still I look at other channels but had to decide on the 20 or so that I share the most compatible interests with. For example Tom's Buck collection obsession...I get it. I'm the same way with Western Cutlery, At first I kept finding collectible Westerns all over the pace dating to the 1920's through the 20 century. Being from Boulder I decided to go for that track...Westerns. Now of course a vintage knife that was $15 in 2012 is currently $115+. Thanks guys, this was a good chat, good topics.
Thanks BDH! I’m always glad to hear from you. Yes, some of the competitiveness is real and does take away from the fun aspect of the hobby. I will be back soon and having fun is what I want to focus on.
Thanks for sharing your thoughts, bdh! Its a fine line between growing your channel, while not making it a competition. Having said that, it can get to be challenging to come up with video ideas that are "new and fresh" in order to keep your viewers interested in your channel. I do think that having all the new and upcoming channels helps us to try and improve our content. Used in the right way, the "competition" improves the community as a whole.
Glad this chat helped you out. There's lots of good advice out there, but ultimately, its YOUR channel. Do what works for you. Thanks for watching, Mario.
First and foremost I’m glad RJ is physically ok, been worried wondering. Second I have a cereal monster running circles around me while watching so don’t know if I missed it but didnt hear a mention of the time it takes to reply to comments as most of the creators do. And none of us viewers could even guess the number of emails you get daily. Great video gents!
Yes, there is a lot of time spent behind the scenes, answering comments & emails, going to the post office, etc. If one is not careful, TH-cam can take over your life. Thanks for watching, my friend.
I really miss when this was about sharing knives and knowledge! With all the mail calls, giveaways and constant worry about numbers it’s almost like a competition. This great hobby is just a small part of our lives. You guys are still real in my book.
01/27/25 - Howdy Tom and RJ ... a "blast from short past", but great to see you both this late Jan25. I also needed a six-week holiday break (vacation, multiple sicknesses, family support travel, Eagles/Sphere gift/concert) so I took one with exception of a couple holiday shorts & GAW. We'll see/talk with all of you soon ... when it's fun again 😊. I'll leave a clean/new (2 straps) pair of bibs in a box with "Junior" on the front porch ... just in case.
Hello, Byron! I hope that your break has helped you relax and get ready to be back in the game. We all need to take a break on occasion. Thanks for watching, my friend. God bless.
Good show! I buy knives to use. I used to collect, but now I put the collection to work. I have found that expensive doesn't mean high performance . The two bladed jack, medium stockman, or SAK, do the job everything.
Really enjoyed this. I agree, if your not careful TH-cam can be all encompassing. I only drop content Monday thru Friday. The reason being is my Wife works Sunday thru Thursday, so I make content when she is at work. Plus I am medically retired so it gives me something to do other than watching television. Yup, another good point we start chasing knives for videos. I guess that is one thing i'm good at, I buy what I like and want. Only problem with that is so many people only want to see what is cool or popular at the moment. Always Collect Your Own Way, then you will always enjoy your collection. I have gone down the RoseCraft rabbit hole, they make a great piece and I really like them but I can't keep up. I think they should rebrand to RoseCrack, because once you get one you need more. I really wanted the January 2025 Buck of the month, but the timing just was not right. Okay, I have left the longest comment ever. Take care really enjoyed seeing you guys this Saturday morning, take care and God bless.
You're right, Stan. Its a challenge to stay focused on collecting what you enjoy collecting, versus worrying about getting the latest and greatest shiny knife. I'm refocused on my collection, and sharing it. Thanks for your remarks, Stan. I enjoyed reading them!
To tag a channel, you simply type a # and then their channel name (no spaces.) Then, the channel should be notified that you mentioned them. Thanks for watching, Howard.

Loved this and took a lot from it.

You're welcome, Jason. I actually found a Case pen knife that celebrates 300 years of Pennsylvania. (1681-1981) Thanks for watching, my friend.
Good talk guys😊

Awesome Video Gentleman!!! Thank you both for all of the advice and honesty, this young knife/EDC TH-camr appreciates it for sure!!

Tom, Rod, I am at a point where I am more into using my knives, my stuff! 72 next month 😂 Interesting talk 😊
I wish I had the occasion to use mine more. Someday hopefully! Thanks for watching, Peter.
It's are only chance to see RJ now...🥹 we miss the live days. But we understand all reasons. Great chat guys. See you next time.
I promise to be back with videos soon. I didn’t quit. Thanks for your concern!
We're still around, Alex. We'll try to do more chats! Thanks for watching, my friend.
