Buddha Temple - History of Buddhism in Dehradun
His Eminence Kochen Rinpoche and a few other monks constructed Buddha Temple, a Tibetan monastery also known as Mindrolling Monastery, in 1965 for the advancement and defense of religious and cultural understanding of Buddhism. Built-in the Japanese architectural style, the Buddha Temple complex's setting offers mental serenity comparable to that of a Buddhist monk. One of the four schools of Tibetan religion, the Buddha temple complex, was founded. The name of this temple complex is Nyingma, while the names of the other schools are Sakya, Kagyu, and Geluk, respectively.
Buddha Temple - Mindrolling Monastery
Hundreds of tourists and foreign Buddhist enthusiasts visit the Buddha Temple, which is thought to be the greatest Buddhist reliquary in Asia. This magnificent Buddhist temple is home to statues of the Buddha and Guru Padmasambhava, and it has five stories and a height of around 220 feet. The first three stories offer a mesmerizing experience because to the stunning baroque wall paintings that awe everyone. About 50 artisans worked on these exquisite paintings, which depict the life of Lord Buddha, for more than three years. They were painted in pure gold.
The fourth story of the Buddha temple houses another main draw. Reaching out through a narrow wooden ladder offers a stunning 360-degree panorama of the Doon Valley. Another major draw in the temple complex is the 103-foot-tall statue of Lord Buddha. It is devoted to the Dalai Lama, the Tibetan people's spiritual leader. The serene ambiance of the well-kept, lovely gardens and grassy area surrounding the temple appeals to visitors as well. Each visitor experiences the true essence of Buddhism with an intricate decorative memory and a silent view of the Doon Valley.
The temple complex's Shopping Complex features a number of dining and shopping establishments. Buddhist sacred scriptures and a sizable selection of books in Tibetan are available. Additionally, several stores provide clothing, artwork, and handicrafts created by Buddhists. In the Buddha Temple complex, there are close to 500 lamas who live and study there. The administration of the Buddha Temple looks after the lamas and offers them free lodging, clothing, food, and a variety of other amenities.
