I love Damascus too. I’ve never made it to Trail Days, but it looks like fun! I love how towns along the trail look out for the hikers. My husband and I met a hiker while we were doing a day hike. He was a through hiker, we brought him home for a shower and a hot meal. He had some great stories and we had a great evening. He kept in touch for a bit, but lost touch after a while. I love that the church attends to hikers needs, what a blessing.

When I was in my 50's I was heavy into backpacking and always wanted to do a thru hike on the AT. I know a couple folks who did and the experience for them was a paradigm shift. Thanks for the vid.
Never say never, Jeff. It is something that almost anyone can do regardless of age. I will be there this year from the 18th to the 21st and am going to try to make Pre Days at Dividing Ridge in Hampton, TN. Got to stop in Catawba to visit two very good friends and then I will be heading south to Woody Gap, yoyo to Virginia and then head North from Southwest Virginia to Maine. Going to do some bonus miles and should finish with close to 5,000 AT miles including a full thru hike.

The sweet smell of body odor and marijuana. Epic. LOL Great show you two. It is very important to shine some light to the AT hikers. They are some tough people for sure.

I hiked a couple of trail segments years ago, always wanted to do the whole trail but while I wasn't paying attention got old & decrepit.

Hey great video I’ve been to Damascus but never on trail days also been to allot of foot washing services! It is a Bible teaching but it’s mainly just practiced (not only) in the Appalachian areas of our country. Which I believe speaks to the nature of our people! Y’all are great Gob bless

Austin Texas (keep Austin weird) ain’t got nothing on Damascus! I mean that in a good way. I fell in love with this little town the first time I saw it. This just makes me love it more!
it is a great place, one of the best in Southwest Virginia

I love going to these outings just for the food but this is such a mess I will not be wasting my time or money.

it was nice before kids had to start seeing non trail weird things like men wearing skirts,im talking poodle skirts and sundresses not kilts and alot of etc. it has become a just a sin free for all over the last couple years
