    I definitely agree that Sunny is a wonderful protagonist who truly embodies unity and is very grounded and humble. As something of an idealist myself I can also attest to being prone to getting emotional which is a wonderfully fitting flaw for her.
    She's quite underrated and it's good to see some appreciation for her!

    great video why do people want from sunny starscout? do they want her to learn about magic like twilight? she's supposed to spread hope and positivity also i hate when people think her job of selling smoothie and telling ponies to grow fruits and vegetables is useless and pointless because to me it's important not only earth ponies can eat healthy but do something useful with their magic.

    I would defend Twilight as a character and the flaws that she has, but I've done that in the comments of another G5 defense video I've watched.
    Instead, I'd like to address Argyle. Him being dead served as added motivation for Sunny in the first place, as he didn't live to see his own ideals of unity between the pony races come to fruition, and he is the very reason she had those ideals and desires in the first place. Had he still been alive, she would definitely still have that desire, but arguably it's not as strong of a motive when he's still alive and isn't necessarily left with the reputation as the kook of Maretime Bay. He died with nobody caring for him other than his daughter, and whoever his wife was.
    And he wasn't "shoved down our throats." Argyle only came into play a few times throughout the franchise, being in a few noted but still minor moments in a few episodes of Tell Your Tale, the opening to the G5 comics, the entirety of Starscout Code, and the beginning and climax of the movie. That's not that a lot of time when you compare to how much time we spend with other characters, most notably with Alphabittle upon the reveal that he was Misty's father all along. And before that, he was more of a minor supporting character who didn't serve as anyone's motivations, aside from maybe Queen Haven and eventually Misty.

    Theres sooo many things I dont like about G5, but I'm still curious how it will end and I do like some things about it. I hate-watched it at first, but it ended up growing on me. I have hope it'll get better. Im kinda sad that the 3D show is done. It's a potentially unpopular opinion, but I preferred it over the 2D. I haven't touched the 2D series yet. It seems more difficult to make things come across as serious in that style (like the battle between Sunny and Opaline, for example). The show is goofier than I'd like, so it may work out anyways. The characters fix conflict way too quick and easy for my taste, so I'd like to see just a bit more of a struggle like Mlpfim had lol. Sunny, Izzy, and Opaline are my fav characters. Sunny seems over-hated. The trend where Twilight said "that magic wasn't yours to give" was neat, but I personally don't think it suited her character. I think Twilight would be relieved to see unity was starting to come back again since she worked so hard for it to happen back in the past. I wish g5 wasn't connected to g4, though. There's a lot of things that clash with the lore, so I like to think of it as an alternate universe where things are different, lol. Since the internet is the internet I'd like to strongly emphasize that my opinons are my mine alone, so anyone who disagrees does NOT need to attack me, I respect peoples right to disagree. I like pony conflict in the show, but I'm not a fan of conflict involving me 😂 I don't comment on videos often because of it, but man do I like mlp and yapping about it lol.

    i don't like how in season 2 of tell your tale she was willing to redeem allura after what she did in secrets of starlight and think she's not bad also the latest tell your tale episode made misty discover new secret room with magic in the bright house something that sunny should do it herself.

      Sunny already has quite a bit of magical ability. Goodness knows that Misty needs a hobby.
      As for the Allura bit, I thought that showed a surprising degree of emotional maturity. Sunny didn’t consider Allura redeemed; she just gave her the benefit of the doubt. Which is fair, since everything Allura had done so far was just to get out of Starlight Ridge. It’s not the Mane 6’s responsibility or right to hunt down someone who hasn’t done anything to the Equestrian ponies yet.

    Wow everything that I ever thought of sunny and put into words in one video. I’m going to be honest I use to think what people were saying about sunny was true. That zipp and misty have taken her role as main character when that is just not the case. I feel that ever since misty was introduced she has been taking away crucial development from other characters. Misty has had some amazing moments but I really don’t see how she has more going on than the rest of the mane 5. Hitch is such a complicated character that it surprised me that the character with the most going is not so popular. I just can’t get on board with Misty and her arc. It seems she is just learning over and over again to forgive herself. And with bold statements from fans saying “she is the only good thing about G5” or “Misty is carrying G5 without her G5 would be nothing” makes them sound unappreciative. G5 may not be great but I can say from my stand point that their characters feel like human and bring meaning to the show. I’m not saying that you can’t like misty. You can like her as much as you want. But sometimes the fans seem to not be able to handle any opinions that say otherwise. There are many fans who love Misty but that does not mean everyone will. Whenever someone tries to criticize Misty as character people take it as hate. Just because the majority of the fandom love this character does not mean she is excluded from being criticized. And I know I’m rambling but I just really wish we could appreciate opinions that are different. Sunny deserves so much more love. I really agree with you on preferring sunny over twilight. As much as I love twilight I think sunny feels more realistic. She might not be like me completely but I see some of her in me even if I am more timid than her. And also I know I might have said this before but tell your tale really feel like Pipp’s show.

    I have to completely disagree here.
    1:01 Um, the ponies thwarted Opaline by combining their "hope" together in both TYT and Make your Mark. It's a shameless Deus Ex Machina
    2:35 The ironic thing is that you called Sunny humble when in the "Cutie Mark Mix up", she had the NERVE to say her "duty as alicorn" is more stressful (and important) than Hitch being a Sheriff (If she was princess, at least her argument would have weight, but no)
    She was never really a pillar of the community before the movie and the only reason she is afterward is because there's no mayor and the townsponies don't listen to her unless she's in "alicorn mode" (in both TYT and MYM)
    3:35 I would say Sunny does have an ego, but unlike Trixie or Rainbow's flank it's much more subtle. She seems to live in her own little world where she's almost always right and she hears what she wants to hear.
    Zipp: I think that something is wrong with magic
    Sunny: What?? No there isn't!
    Zipp: Sunny, I think something's glitching out with magic again.
    Sunny: Oh, yeah! It's great having magic again! Ooh, they have confetti cannons!!
    Sprout: Technically it is still mine!
    Sunny: No way! It belongs to all of us now!
    A lot of what she says or does ranges from questionable to selfish to being downright oblivious. From guilt-tripping her friends to spend the holidays with her to taking Hitch's sheriff duties personally, she has a bad habit of being toxically positive or insensitive
    Hitch: Do you have any idea how many laws you broke?
    Sunny: (rolls eyes) I'm sure you're about to tell me
    Hitch: Magic is too dangerous! We need rules!
    Sunny: But we could feed the world with this Earth Pony magic!
    "You'll NEVER be alone EVER again"
    "We do nothing!"
    2:45 Yikes! I think you've greatly misunderstood Twilight's character. Her friends weren't always for her (ex: Flurry of Emotions, Once Upon a Zeppelin) Twilight has flaws from anxiety, to "Twilighting" but unlike Sunny, this is set up for character development. She almost always faces the consequences of her actions. And I don't remember her taking credit for others' accomplishments
    What would've helped her character if her ideals/beliefs were deconstructed, like maybe she learned Twilight made a poor choice making the crystals and accepts that she needs to be her own person or if she learned to keep a balance between being idealistic and being practical.
    Look at Judy Hopps. Just like Sunny, she wanted to make the world a better place. But reality hit her like a trainwreck and as she saves the day, she learns to be more open-minded as the world is not black and white and even she herself has an unconscious bias. No matter where she went, either her ideals were challenged, or she was tempted to give up (and eventually did). Sunny's quest in the movie wasn't satisfying not only because it was rushed, but because nothing happened that made Sunny break her optimism or question that what she was doing was right.
    Applejack: I didn't learn anything! I was right all along!
    I don't hate Sunny, and I wouldn't say she's a bad character either, just mishandled, especially with how she changes after the movie.
    I suggest watching Turtletum's video "Why Sunny Starscout is a Poor Character". It goes into much more detail

    • @PeacePetal
      @PeacePetal  10 หลายเดือนก่อน +4

      “It’s a shameless Deus Ex Machina.” Literally the way magic worked in FiM.
      Sunny can be blinded by her idealism, but I don’t think that necessarily means she has an ego. She struggles to think realistically. A lot of the examples you’ve pulled are from early in her character development where she was dismissive of her friends, but as I said she pretty much grew out of that. And whether you call it ego or just being out of touch, having a flaw like that isn’t a bad thing.
      As for Twilight, she comes off as obnoxious because the story treats her like she’s extra special. It’s not necessarily a problem with her as a pony so much as the decisions the writers made, like making her magic so obviously more useful than her friends’ talents, not giving her a real job until the end of S4, or giving her wings for something as silly as reversing her own spell.
      Sunny has had plenty of moments that made her question herself. You just listed several.
      I know there’s a lot of videos ripping apart Sunny’s character. I just think they’ve missed the point.

      @@m.salmanal-farisy3748 A spell Star Swirl wrote but Twilight cast. Twilight has great moments. That was not one of them. Giving up her magic to save a friend who had betrayed her would have been a much more suitable chance for her to become a princess.
      And don’t be dismissive of others’ opinions. There’s a difference between discussing something (which is what Javier did) and ridiculing someone for not agreeing with you.

    • @psychotophatcat
      @psychotophatcat 10 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@PeacePetalBut Twilight earning her wings by giving up her magic wouldn't make sense based on the explanation of how alicorn transformations work in the canon. In G4, ponies become alicorns for discovering new types of magic, not for doing selfless acts. In fixing Starswirl's flawed spell, Twilight unlocked/perfected a new type of literal magic based on the concept of the interconnectivity of friendship and how it can affect each individual for the better. Starswirl never got it right because he only really saw his companions as commodities. Are you saying you just dislike the discovery of new magic as a concept for alicorn power being granted? I think just about everyone in G4 would've become alicorns by the end if selfless acts were what granted them that power 😅

    • @PeacePetal
      @PeacePetal  10 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      @@psychotophatcat Well discovering new magic is a lame way for ponies to become alicorns. Twilight was good at magic the whole time! The pivotal moment in her progression was her casting a spell… Which is something she could’ve done from the very start of the show.
      The S3 finale was about Twilight’s magical abilities, rather than her friendships. Which kind of deemphasizes her whole character arc, since she was always good at magic. It’s a sucky explanation for how to make alicorns, and it sucks even more because it implies that only unicorns can do it. I hated that episode!
