That's what I'm gathering as well. It's funny because Cardi said from the get-go she's in it to make money BUT she's not half assing anything. Even when she comes short, it's just because she hit some limit, but rest assured she gave you her all! She does the most with what she got and I respect her grind. Saweetie for how fly she is and portrays herself to be, is giving me a girl riddled with insecurities. When she's taken out of her bubble where she only has to flex for the phone and can later edit it the way she wants to, she folds. She has potential but she has to put herself out there more.
When Saweetie first came out I thought she had the perfect mix of cuteness, sexiness, class, and bougieness. Then she suddenly changed when she dropped 'My Type' along with having her appearance altered.
I'm not even a NM fan but she definitely has stage presence. Too many ppl think being "pretty" on IG will translate to the stage. You need charisma, presence and talent. And if you don't have talent, AT LEAST be creative enough to still put on a good show! Tap dance, do backflips, magic tricks, something!

The Weeknd is probably the best example, not necessarily the best dancer and I never expected him to even dance in the first place but he gives stage presence every time he hits the stage.

I agree, I think saweetie has a lot yes men in her circle instead of coaches or people who are going to tell her the truth and help her grow as an artist. I truly believe the reason why Meg and Doja are doing better is because they had a lot of practice and people in their corner who were helping to mold them into the successful artist they are today.
And the thing is Saweetie can rap. I don’t know why people keep saying she can’t rap. The bar for female rappers is much much higher than male rappers. There’s so many basic, just terrible rappers out right now that run up numbers on Spotify and get barely any criticism. Saweetie just needs to get herself to the next level! You don’t NEED choreo to have an engaging performance BUT if you’re gonna do it, do it right. Doesn’t matter how pretty you are. Since people like Meg and Doja are out here CONSISTENTLY SERVING I feel like other artists are feeling the pressure to be all around popstars but lack basic stage presence. All that unnecessary choreography and lip syncing just for it to look awkward when they could be focusing their energy on other aspects of the performance.
I totally agree. She shouldn't have to dance to keep up with the others and I don't think she even needs a bunch of choreography. I've seen so many people compare her performances to Doja and Meg but I even think of someone like Jhene Aiko who doesn't even stand up every time she performs and doesn't sing the most "hype" songs but when she's on stage you know she's there and she has your attention.

It was a really long set... Everything was wrong... The hair and outfits, dancing, voice overs... everything.... To me she's an influencer that got a record deal.... She's not trying bc she feels like she doesn't have to the money is so going to come in.... For her to say during the performance "oooooooo I'm tired and outta breath but I got one more for yall" like what! I've never been a fan but this performance showed me why I just couldn't get with it.
I couldn't help but laugh when she said she was out of breath. She was barely hitting the moves and to me it looked like she forgot that she was at least supposed to lip sync. There so many times during the performance (which was just too long) where her mouth wasn't moving at all.
Someone show this video to her immediately. This was some great constructive criticism of not just Saweetie but her team who is not doing the work for her in the performance category. She’s not the greatest but she sure as HELL is better than this (triller). I want authenticity I want energy on stage, I want breath control, I don’t require choreography if you wanna throw some in fine, but make sure you give it some life, attitude, personality! She has all those things they just need to be applied in her live performances. The Icy Playlist is lit too btw.

Hip Hop has ALWAYS been based on samples. J Dilla, Kanye West, etc exclusively produce “sampled” beats. And on top of that, a lot of Saweetie’s current competition samples just as much as her. It’s not her fault that the PUBLIC gravitates towards those songs from her. SN her biggest hit to date is Best Friend which does not contain a sample.
Yes but they usually flip the song to give it a whole new sound. Saweetie doesn’t do that. She uses the popularity of an already hit song to get a hit. That’s so easy to do. Those samples are so easy to identify. Kanye and j dilla’s samples weren’t always super easy to identify.
Plus their samples were much older samples and were samples of r&b and soul music. Saweetie samples rap songs from the late 90a and early 2000s. It’s much easier to get a rot for a song that already worked. That’s super easy to identify and was just a hit 10-15 years ago.

It was a really long set... Everything was wrong... The hair and outfits, dancing, voice overs... everything.... To me she's an influencer that got a record deal.... She's not trying bc she feels like she doesn't have to the money is so going to come in.... For her to say during the performance "oooooooo I'm tired and outta breath but I got one more for yall" like what! I've never been a fan but this performance showed me why I just couldn't get with it.
I couldn't help but laugh when she said she was out of breath. She was barely hitting the moves and to me it looked like she forgot that she was at least supposed to lip sync. There so many times during the performance (which was just too long) where her mouth wasn't moving at all.
Someone show this video to her immediately. This was some great constructive criticism of not just Saweetie but her team who is not doing the work for her in the performance category. She’s not the greatest but she sure as HELL is better than this (triller). I want authenticity I want energy on stage, I want breath control, I don’t require choreography if you wanna throw some in fine, but make sure you give it some life, attitude, personality! She has all those things they just need to be applied in her live performances. The Icy Playlist is lit too btw.

Yes but they usually flip the song to give it a whole new sound. Saweetie doesn’t do that. She uses the popularity of an already hit song to get a hit. That’s so easy to do. Those samples are so easy to identify. Kanye and j dilla’s samples weren’t always super easy to identify.
Plus their samples were much older samples and were samples of r&b and soul music. Saweetie samples rap songs from the late 90a and early 2000s. It’s much easier to get a rot for a song that already worked. That’s super easy to identify and was just a hit 10-15 years ago.

@@13ikea naw I’d throw Meg in there too. Meg’s samples are easy to identify and she samples way too much imo but she can rap so she’s miles ahead of Saweetie. Saweetie can’t rap so it’s like she’s relying on the sample to get a hit.
Idk if you guys remember dua lips’s performance. It was terrible and she cried after cause so many ppl were bashing it...... she admitted it was not the best and worked her butt off to be better, now she has that stage presence and great performance skills. Saweetie needs to contact dua lipa’s manager.

Some people are not built like that, we all know Beyoncé was already performing from a very young age, she started her training waaaay early, compared to most female artists in the game atm!

There came a point in saweeties performance when she went BEHIND the backup dancers to hype them up. I was like “ where’s Saweetie where did she go?” The audience can’t loose sight of an artist cause she blended in with backup dancers🤦🏾♀️
