- How to Make a Mini Guardians of the Galaxy Jetpack, DIY Action FIgure Prop
Today we’re making a miniature Jetpack for the 6 inch Marvel Legends Guardians of the Galaxy Action figures, but you can scale this project to fit other action figure and doll lines too. Drax may not be fond of jetpacks, but sometimes you need to wear one.
The measurements to get you started for the beginning pieces of this DIY action figure accessory project are at 6:45 in the video.
The materials I’ll be using to make the Guardians of the Galaxy 2 style Jetpack are:
-Computer/printer paper
-Cardstock paper (or you can use index cards!)
-Clear plastic wrap
-Rubber bands
-Mod podge: amzn.to/2kPTo9D (Amazon affiliate link)
-Metal ruler: amzn.to/2kPHexg (Amazon affiliate link)
-Xacto knife: amzn.to/2ll2Ezk (Amazon affiliate link)
-Paint brush
-Black Paint (I’m using Delta Ceramcoat Charcoal)
-Silver Paint (I’m using Delta Ceramcoat Gleams Metallic Silver)
-(optional) Wooden Dowel Rod (3/16 inch diameter), Don’t have one of these? You can use something else like a straw or rolled up paper.
-(optional) Pin Vise for drilling a hole in the Dowel Rod: amzn.to/2qVP1sL (Amazon affiliate link) and a drill bit to use with the pin vise. I’m not sure what size drill bit mine is.
-1 mm magnets (I used 2 magnets and then split a washer in half to glue on the back of the pack so I wouldn’t have to use 4 magnets):

You can add flames to the jetpack action figure prop by making the ‘flames’ from my earlier muzzle flash project and attaching them to the jetpack with a bit of poster wall mounting putty. That DIY Muzzle Flash Action Figure Accessory video is available here: • How to Make a Miniatur...
Update 6/5: I've been told by a kind viewer that the official name for the Guardian's Jetpacks is Aero Rigs (or Aerorigs).

Zubbie nice video
Thanks!
Zubbie can you sub to me and I like your content

David Nnaemeka who me
Can you make Starlord's Walkman? That would be great 👍🏻
That would be fun. Thanks for the suggestion!
Some of the marvel legends come with his walkman and can fit on his belt.
this is absolutely brilliant !!! when I saw this, initially I thought it would be of some clay or the 'usual' baking & molding stuff !!! but...wow !!! so many wearable accessories can be done this way !!! well done girl !!!
Thanks! I thought about trying clay, but it seemed like a nightmare to try to get something inflexible back off of him. Then I thought about trying fabric. That may have worked, but everyone already has paper in their house. :-)
I honestly thought the paper was just going to be for reference, but I was impressed how you made the whole thing with such simple materials! Well done once again, Zubbie!
It started that way! But everything else was just too thick, but if you slap enough mod podge on paper it becomes plastic-y anyway. xD
I'm certainly learning the power of Mod Podge. LOL. The paints really take it over the edge too.
Painting is always my favorite step. That's when you can see the project coming together. Before then, it just looks like a wad of paper. xD
Zubbie you are a crafting genius! Still can't believe it is detailed by paper and mod podge. Awesome job! And thanks for the nice shout out!
You're welcome! You got an awesome blog so I'm more than happy to spread the word. If forgot to put the link to your blog in the video description before, but it's there now so people can find it easier. :-)
I really love the Hasbro Marvel Legends but they missed a key accessory in the jet packs. Do you have one for Rocket and Star Lord? I'd love to see em. Great work. I'm still playing with Mod Podge. It seems quite versatile.
My first attempt was a jet pack for Star Lord, but it didn't turn out as well. I only have the first Star Lord with the long coat, so I couldn't get the pack to sit snuggly on his chest because of the coat's collar.
I made mine for Vol 2 Star lord it went really well.
Careful though, it might hurt his nipples.
haha :-)
Zubbie it seems so simple, but how about a good lasso for a Wonder Woman or a cowboy?
jezz could make me one that jetpack it look sick awesome
thanks
You're welcome :-)
You should do an updated marvel legends collections
Great idea!
cool vid and fun idea i may have to try! thanks for sharing!
Amazing custom once again zubbie!
thanks!
its called an aero rig!
awesome project though, thank you
Thanks for letting me know that! Too late to change the video, but I'll make sure I include that in the tags
you should make a tornado effect for whirlwind! one he can stand in!
We're not flying we're falling with style
I recognized that quote, but couldn't remember where it was from. I cheated and looked it up because it was bugging me. lol
Zubbie Toy Story :v
when you finished it and put the jet pack on him I'm surprised drax didn't yell "ah my nipples!"
lol! He did in my head. xD
I like how your toys speak in the thumbnail 🤣🤣
nice work
Thanks!
Idk if you did this yet but can you make 1/12 scale batarang
I haven't done a batarang, but probably the easiest way to make one would be to sculpt it out of clay
Hey zubbie, can you teach how to make a explosion effect?
That would be neat, but I haven't figured out how to do that yet. It's on my list of project ideas though. :-)
You can use a Little Ball as a base, than you can cover it up with that kind of paper that you use a lot (I forgot the name) than you can cover up the ball with hot glue to make that kind of round appearance that a explosion has.
But that's just a sketch
That's a good idea :-)
Sandra Portella she should
Ehy zub, i suggest you to take the select gamora! Rocket is totaly worth the price!
I've been eyeing that Rocket! Good to hear he's worth it :-D
the best rocket raccoon figure
can you make a grappling hook and a wing suit.like in the video game just cause 3
Can you please show us how to make a helmet or mask
Thanks for the suggestions! As for the mask, any particular type of mask you'd like to see? Some other people have requested an unmasked mask which a figure would hold in his hand, like Spider-Man's mask.
Hey Zubbie! Please make a gas mask for action figures. Thanks :)
That's a new suggestion. I'll add that to my list of project ideas. Thank you for the suggestion!
awsome make you can make a ps4 or psvita thanks
That could be fun! Then we could make some retro consoles too. I'll add that to my list of suggested projects. Thanks for passing on the idea!
Do the superior spiderman arms!
I like that idea, I'm just not sure how to make the joints on the arms though.
Zubbie maybe with wires?
Zubbie thank you, you re One of the best yt channel
Zubbie can you make me one of those
Could you make a Thor helmet
23:15
can u please make a spear
How to make clothes for your action figures PLEASEEEE
Would you still be interested in seeing how to make clothes if it requires sewing? I don't think I can make fabric glue work for that one.
"My Nipples! AHHHHHHHH" -Drax
This project really made me wish I had the new Drax with the screaming head. haha!
can you make spiderman wings from the new movie
OH NO HIS NIPPLES!!!!!!!!
Now it makes sense why he never wears a shirt!
Zubbie oh yeah you are so right
Don't put it on Drax his nipples are hurting
dont put it on drax he has sensitive nipples
Watching this at 3:30 AM while eating Cinnamon Toast Crunch.
But seriously, amazing work yet again Zub! I dunno if this is a more causal format you're going for but I'm a fan of it, always nice to chill and watch something. And yes I know how late I am to watching this! But great vid nonetheless!
Yeah, this new format is more casual, but it's mostly born out of laziness. Hahaha! It's far less editing if I just ramble on while I'm working instead of doing a voice over after.
@@Zubbiecan you make a video for making a house
oh wow your really stepping up your game !
thanks!
excuse me miss this is my son dad I really need your help for my sons birthday is July 20 at and you want to get a JPEG for guardians of the galaxy volume two*Lord and his rocket raccoon toy I was just wondering if you could do this for my son if you want me to pay for it
hey zubbie bet you can't make a skateboard ^_^
Of course she can
Nice, I'll have to try it on my vol. 2 star lord and rocket marvel legends
1:33 Drax the bird!
could you make a sword harness for deadpool with the same method?
That's a really good idea. I think that would work for Deadpool's sword harness. The only tricky part would be making the sword sheaths tiny, yet large enough to hold the swords.
this is great thanks zubbie used it on my superior Spiderman
That's a cool idea!
sweet
You should make webbing for Spider-Man figures it wraps around the wrists and you could make it like Cyclops optic beam. Oh don't hurt Drax's nipples
Waahhhh my nipples hurt goodness me"!!!
lol, poor Drax
That's just really a neat little idea!!! I love it
Thanks!
do you have any videos on smoke effect?
I don't, but that's a great suggestion!
Ummm you stop making videos 😅
haha, yeah it's been a while but I have a new one now!
Drake throughout the whole of this video: MY NIPPLES HURT!!!
WHOAH DID THE QUALITY GET BETTER?
I live for the pop noise
That's cool
Btw I am your new subscriber 😀
I know that you specifically do Marvel DIYs, but it would be awesome if you would do a special series on a Wonder Woman action figure to celebrate the movie. Things like Glowing Lassos, deflection effects, or even a removable coat with fur trim...
I still need to go see that movie! I heard it was good. I keep making plans to go, but things just seem to keep popping up at the last minute.
Hey zubbie! I was subscribed for a long time and wondered if you could make a custom computer please? I'd love to see that! Love what you're doing keep it up!!!!
The good news is there is a laptop tutorial on my channel. Or were you wanting a desktop computer?
Did you get a new mic? The audio seems clearer now. I'm so glad you made this because I got the Star-Lord and was disappointed at how he didn't come with one. Now all i need is the blaster effeCts
The mic is the same, but I didn't put in background music this time. Maybe that makes it clearer?
Nice making
Love this!
I miss you..
hey zubbie I keep seeing a little ta b le in your vids and I want you to make a desk tutorial Thx
I'd like to try to make a desk too. Thanks for the suggestion!
Could you do DIY robes and Jackets 6inch scale
The next soft goods project I'm going to attempt is going to be a trench coat. If I can get a design to work, you should be able to shorten it to work as a jacket.
Awesome ! I always thought my new drax and starlord looked plain😀
I agree, especially about Drax. The new head sculpt is nice, but he's still pretty similar to the first one.
Zubbie this request maybe wierd but i was wondering if can u make a fidget spinner for 1/12 scale i know im the only one asking you for this but i think it would be very goofy and funny😂
Pikapool yeah, it would be goofy. But a good idea 😁
where did you get that cool little hand drill?
From my dad. It's called a pin vise, but I always call it a hand drill too because I never remember the name. xD There's one really similar to mine on Amazon.
First off: Awesome video Zubbie!! Second off: I have a question for you: Will you be reviewing the marvel legends spiderman homecoming web-wings spiderman action figure?
Thanks!
As for the web wings Spidey, I'm not sure if I'm even getting him. I have the Civil War Spidey, and I know there are some difference between the two besides the webbing, but I'm not sure if it's $20 of Zub money difference.
Thanks for replying, and trust me, it's worth it. There are a few differences between the two figures that makes the new one alot better than the older one. Collector's Honor 🖒
That's good to hear the new Spidey is worth buying
this is very cool!
Thanks!
can u make a spear
The good news is a spear shouldn't be too hard to make. Check out my video on how to make arrows and you can use the arrow head for the spear tip. And then either use a dowel rod or an extra long toothpick for the base of the spear.
Can u make a gun
Do you have any other figures that came with a gun design you like? If so, it is a lot easier to duplicate that weapon than try to sculpt one from scratch. Here's how you can make a two part mold to duplicate small objects like action figure guns: th-cam.com/video/9VMIaqw5WKQ/w-d-xo.html
can you make me a jetpack for me
you can make katanas ?
Do you have any figure that came with katanas? If so, you can make a mold of them using the steps in my previous video and duplicate them.
Zubbie no
No I find it satisfying to
Haha! So it's not just me then. Pop!
Zubbie yeah I've like it since well as long as I can remember them making ball necks on action figures so much in fact I lost the heads to some of them when I was younger
hey zubbie can you do one for me I'll pay if is necessary
