The clever thing is that Rob never says that he's doing the impressions in the video. He says "we're gonna perform a song for you *with* 29 different celebrity impressions." which actually means he's featuring the impressions, and the video itself is called "29 Celebrity Impressions, 1 Original Song", which is accurate.
Was the point to get his original song seen? Because, if it was I didn't pay any attention to the song lyrics, just the voices.

Dude, the point of the video was literally to make us think of it as one man with 29 different voices. If they told us beforehand, we'd be sitting there trying to wait and figure out where you can hear that it's not really his voice, which would have taken away from the feel of the video, lmao.
And obviously people read the caption/description since people literally told you just now that something was in the description (hinting at the fact that they read the description in order to see it???)

Rob Cantor and his friend Andrew were/are in the band Tally Hall. The band dropped it's first album in 2005 and has been on hiatus after their second album release and tour in 2011. Most of the band members have solo music or still do music for their career, like Rob Cantor. I miss Tally Hall. ;-;

It goes to show how little impact Tally Hall had on people back then to call Andrew Horrowitz some random friend. I would think Dave had no clue as they never made it internationally. Since TikTok, it's all changed.
Plus, i think Rob did an amazing job lip synching as it doesn't look fake until you get to the female voices
oh hello apg!! Also yeah ive seen the increase in the popularity of tally hall because of tiktok, but i cant really feel like a veteran if I literally only joined the fandom a year ago when tally hall was pretty much popular already.
Rob Cantor was actually in a band (Tally Hall), and he also sang individual songs (like Actual Cannibal Shia LaBeouf). i love that man.

From what I see it takes more work to make a fake lipsync impressions video than a real one. I appreciate the real ones more even if the impressions aren't spot on. If the person doing them is having fun and the video is entertaining then it's good to me lol.
zeinawali shaheera my impression videos took weeks to make, but that’s also because I insisted on not lipsyncing, even to my own voice. I just filmed and sang for hours and hours every day until I had something down

@@jayraiden5457 As a person who watched that video before the BTS was released, your legit wrong. I watched other impression vids after that vid and it didn't "raise" my expectations. So I'd say its pretty harmless.
As I binge this whole channel I do find myself often saying "yay it's Dave!" It's always a wholesome moment. Thank you for it.
When I saw Rob Cantor's Video I thought it was real, but after idk.. couple months or years I discovered the Making of it, and I wasn't upset. Actually I was amazed and kinda thrilled because I knew Melissa Villaseñor and Brocks Dub (one of my fav youtubers), and to reunite all those artists that gave their voices to Rob's project, and all the magic done in the postproduction. I think Rob Cantor is pretty cool, I love the way he makes music. He's perfect in the way that he is lol.

Rob Cantor is a treasure tbh. He's the one who created "Actual Cannibal Shia LeBeouf." He had the links to all the impressionists' channels in the description, if I remember correctly. The sad thing is, not enough people read descriptions :/ But that's how I was reminded of Brock Baker and wound up rewatching all of his videos! Still, I can totally see why it could be seen as disingenuous.
