QUESTA INTERPRETAZIONE DEL MAESTRO CANINO E' SICURAMENTE UN PUNTO DI RIFERIMENTO PER TUTTI GLI ALLIEVI (E NON SOLO). GRANDE BRUNO! GRAZIE DI ESISTERE! SALUTI DA TINA VOLPE E MATTEO SUMMA DA LATIANO(BR).
l'avevo sentito solo in trio, non mi ero reso conto di quanto suonava bene...grande tocco, quella sinistra nell'ultimo movimento così presente, precisa e seppur discreta, bravo veramente.
I agree with you. It's very easy for the Passepied to be played woodenly, and the pianist here plays it lyrically. The tones themselves are not only better, but it adds structure to something that might otherwise fall into an uninspired perpetuum mobile. Parts of the Menuet also have a "jump" in them that's perfectly suited for the dance number that it's supposed to be, but he keeps it in balance. The Menuet's development becomes (in my opinion) so grandly beautiful that it's easy to forget that it's actually supposed to be a dance. I would really enjoy hearing him perform this live.
Charming concert broadcast on an Italian TV station. The performance is great, very skilled and lyrical, and I have to say the tone of the piano is magnificent and really adds to the whole effect. You can tell the pianist has a real feel for the piece. Gorgeous.
Daniel Giulianini
Without Debussy and his great performer like Bruno , the classical music world would have been very lonely and insipid , and the enjoyment and pleasures of the classical music would have been less , and I would feel that the classical music is like the taste of vapid beer From Tokyo of the Land of the Rising Sun 🇯🇵
Anyone notice that the way he touch the piano somehow reflect the Horowitz's style - flat and low hands still with full energy. I find it pretty rare pianist today do so. This is no-ordinary educated style, is it?
I am immersed in pleasure while listening to his tremendous performance . From I who deeply love Debussy . Which national are you watching this video ?
Those saying the interpretation is too 'dry' need to understand the Baroque inspiration of these pieces and the fact that Debussy abhorred overuse of the pedal.
It is played so 'in the moment'. Like an actor who is surprised and responding to events rather than reciting from memory. (The sound is a bit harsh for my tastes though. Is it just the recording?).
Debussy,s beloved daughter , who has a great direct gene , died at the age of 14 . It's very sad . The genes of the great Debussy,s direct lineage have disappeared from this world forever . Wow. His wrists are WAY below the level of the keys! Surprising then he achieves such fine articulation but he does make a very fine sound of out the piano (who's make I haven't heard of).
+Mrphilharmonic I was thrown off by the 'Alfonso' as well - difficult to see the Steinway emblem. I think a lot of the great sound in any performance has as much to do with how they're mic'ing and sound engineering/hall they're in. I was also taken by his hand placement - but in the end this is one of my favorite interpretations of Bergamasque!
Vergognarsi!Soltanto!
This man totally destroyed the prelude and Menuet, and not in a good way. If you listen to this played by Claudio Arrau that is how this piece MUST have been meant to be played. This man is just hitting notes on a keyboard, there is absolutely no dynamic feel to it whatsoever. He's managed to completely suck the life out of one of the most beautiful pieces of music I've ever heard. My daughter is the piano player in my house and had she heard this man plan it before hearing it by Claudio she would never have wanted to learn the piece. Interpretation is everything.
Joe Falasca - You sure know what you are writing about. This monstrous interpretation goes against the subtle and vaporous impressionistic style that few pianists (Arrau, above all) seem to be able to grasp. Signore Canino turned this delicate composition into a boisterous Italian musical orgy instead of a French sweet musical banquet.
1) Prelude - 0:21
2) Menuet - 4:15
3) Clair de Lune - 8:16
4) Passepied - 12:31
One of my favorite Debussy pieces. Clair de Lune gets all the adoration, but each part is wonderful in its own right.
What a great underrated pianist 😊

The Prelude is so underrated.
I enjoy Prélude just as much as Clair de Lune, maybe a bit more! But I did not like the way Bruno played some parts of it.. but still beautiful!
KrisArty I agree. In my opinion he played it a bit too fast and eager but still loved it!
GreatWonderMoose Prelude is just....incredible...
maybe a little too rushed?
so is the menuet
passepied is so good

I like it when the performer slows the beginning down.. It's such a beautiful piece, and it is such a shame when its beauty is rushed.
I do very much agree with you. Why rush so much?
Grande interpretazione!

(The sound is a bit harsh for my tastes though. Is it just the recording?).
for me it's such a masterpiece, with mature control and voice, but Clair De Lune I prefer others.

I think I like this performance but it is more aggressive than typical: a lot of sections are much louder than usual.
What do you wish for any more ?
Aren't you satisfied with
this performance enough❓
Superb piano technique. The piano does not have fully musical timbre though.
I don't think this video editor is very porfessional...... But nice proformance.
The start is a little too weak .
The start of Michel Beroff is the best .
But this performance is incomparable and exquisite .

It’s an old video. I think it’s from 1996. You may not be able to hear all the dynamics, but I heard some of them.
Buona tecnica ma scarsa interpretazione
