You gotta love the fact tht he was honest about not wanting to do it and only reason why he did it was bc his wife asked him to do it and the only reason he would do it again is if his son asks him to do it lol Mookie’s awesome

Like honestly why would one do it ? Extra chance of injury without any benefit. Honestly to me it ain't look impressive, like it's a competition of power and strength. Which is completely different from hitting homers in the game

Everyone hating in the comments is crazy-respect to Mookie for keeping it real. He’s not a guy that wanted to compete in the HR derby in the first place, his wife made him do it. He’s one of baseballs all around generational talents, and we’re lucky to have him as a player. Don’t blame him for not performing well in something he literally isn’t good AF comparatively to the other contestants.

i dont think this should be a proud moment. a grown man who gets paid to play baseball admitted he didnt practice for the contest he chose to participate in. and then when he got there, after not practicing, he didnt have the will or mental fortitude to overcome his meh feeling to perform for those who watched. ultimately the person he failed to perform for was himself and his family. really poor approach to life if you ask me

You are reading too much into this. He admitted his game/swing is not built for the HR Derby. That is perfectly ok, but let’s not forget to mention the $330M he gets from the Dodgers! Generational wealth outweighs his lone HR Derby performance

@@daashikiiso just bcs he didnt prepare for the derby you think thats how he approaches everything? Way to jump to crazy assumptions. He didnt really fail anything the derby is meaningless too.

He's a 2x world series champion, an mvp, one of the best players in baseball and of his generation and a certain first ballot hall of famer. I think his approach to life is working just fine. You should worry about yourself.
