I believe the Prank Call incident reminded me of the 2007 movie "One Missed Call". The movie revolved around a Japanese legend calling people and leaving a voice mail of the victim's final moments and their screams. Basically in a flashback there was a young girl who had asthma and died trying to call her mom to tell her that her inhaler was emptied of medicine. Her dying breaths could be heard not only over the security cams the parents had installed but also over the phone.
