    This channel has single handedly revived my love for Metroid Prime 2. No other TH-camr comes close to your knowledge and respect for the game.

      Thank you, that means a lot! I wish the channel could get bigger for more exposure. The more I play this game over the years the more I appreciate it and I wanted to remind others why it's so great.

    Love to see more Echoes content. Prime 1 is for the general gamer/ Metroid fan, but Prime 2 is the core Prime fan's favorite

    Prime 2 was and is my absolute favorite Metroid game. I loved the scan logs, music and boss fights. Not to forget the environments( Especially Torvus Bog before you clear it and Sanctuary Fortress).

      Yeah, in my previous video I talk all about those environments. Strangely I think the Torvus Bog is actually more visually interesting before you clear it, I agree. (not that it isn't interesting afterwards)

    To be fair, the Boost Ball Guardian in original GameCube version is absolutely brutal to the point that the fight itself is not fun, even on normal difficulty. It was a truly frustrating experience for me the first time around and Retro Studio was correct in tweaking the difficulty for Wii version of Prime Trilogy. That fight is difficult, yet more fair and fun.
    As for Alpha Blogg, its pretty easy for me the first time around though I agree about the weird checkpoint situation before the battle. The boss itself can be frustrating at time, especially when it constantly ramming Samus without opening their maw. This happened to me so many freaking times in one of later replays that it drew what should have been a 5-10 minutes battle into about half hour affair. Hopefully that'll be fixed in potential remastered version as well.

    Love your channel, CryWolf. I'm so glad I discovered it. I have a lot to say on this one haha.
    I am 1,000% in agreement with you that Prime 2 has the best boss fights. You alluded to the decreased difficulty with subsequent playthroughs, but I want to emphasize that a little more. The learning curve in this game is a lot like Dread. You die a lot, but you keep playing because w/ every attempt, you notice a pattern you can exploit or a way to better prepare. You may still die, but the learning curve is incremental and its addicting to feel that progress towards victory.
    Dread is a little more addicting b/c the checkpoints facilitate quicker re-attempts. And it's still oppressive due to sheer difficulty and small windows. So with that said, I don't think that adding checkpoints in a Prime 2 remaster would conflict with the oppressive theme.
    Lastly, what I want from Prime 4's boss fights is, without a doubt, something more akin to Prime 2. Prime 1's bosses were cool but like you said, repetitive. Prime 3's bosses were criminally easy AND repetitive. Maybe that's a video idea for you, after playing thru Prime 4, comparing its boss structure to the former games to see which one it borrowed from the most, or if its actually able to forge its own path.

      Thanks for sharing here! I agree Prime 3 had the weakest boss - I can't wait for Prime 4, so much awesome and content :D. Interesting comparisons to Dread, that's a cool way to think about it.

    prime time..haha
    Before I watch the video, I want to say that on normal, the only boss I died to was the final DS fight because I didn't know what to do (thank god they put a checkpoint after you defeat Emperor Ing)
    ..and the only other boss who got me below 100 was actually Amorbis surprisingly.
    Boosty was hard but not too hard. Spidey took forever but if you take your time and don't stress he's manageable. Quadraxis was of course awesome. EIng was a bit hard to figure out initially but he's fun after a while. Can we give a shout-out to Caretaker Class Drone though? Underrated boss fight.
    Now that I've watched the video..
    Never noticed Quadraxis actually used the Annihalator against you. Wow.
    Chykka..sooo long..not a bad fight though. Isn't it interesting how the storm missiles in Dread were kinda simmilar to the seeker missiles in this game? I always forget the seekers exsist unless I have to use them in a boss fight..
    Yeah..Boostys just really stressful your first time through. I managed to scrape by on normal first time, but I don't know if that will hold true for hard..
    Admittedly I did have 5 tanks on Boosty. With 5 tanks he's manageable. I agree, Boosty definitely provides a nice change of pace.
    For Alpha Blogg you can also use..I think it was Darkburst. Murders his health. The far save if you don't know is pretty rough though, same with Spidey as well.
    If we're really talking about frustrating, how about Grapple Guardian. Easy but really frustrating and convoluted for no reason.
    If they were to add checkpoints near bosses in a remake, they need to not go to far like Dread. Putting checkpoints a yard away fron every E.M.M.I door and boss fight was just..a bit unneccessary IMO.
    One last thing..Power Bomb Guardian was kind of dissapointingly easy, but having to detour for him was something that is a bit too easy to miss the first time through, they should have made the spider ball track more obvious IMO.
    Sorry for wall of text.

      Thanks for sharing your thoughts here. It's funny you mention the grapple guardian, I considered talking about that one for a bit but its kind of an odd/convoluted fight like you said so I didn't have much interesting to say. He's sort of a damage sponge but not that difficult, his movements are sort of strange and to this day I'm not entirely sure "the best" way to beat him, since there are a variety of techniques. Caretaker drone is cool but doesn't actually have a health bar so I'm not sure if that's considered a boss or just a puzzle so I didn't really talk about it.

    • @IntrestingYTObserver
      @IntrestingYTObserver 7 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @@crywolfplaysYeah..caretaker is more like a puzzle, I can understand that. So is Spider Guardian really. How about the Dark Samus fights, any opinions on those of the top of your head?
      Thanks for the video. On top of being entertaining, you're reminding me to get back to my hard mode replay..

      I think the Dark Samus fights are fine - I actually prefer the first one over the latter because I think the morph ball elements of the second Dark Samus fight can be a bit annoying. I could have made this video a lot longer, I have thoughts on all of the bosses...hah. I think the dark samus fights are enjoyable but not all that unique in terms of discussion points, if that makes sense. I have one or two other videos I'd like to make about Echoes that would go into dark samus more.

    The worst boss for me was the spider ball guardian! This was played on the GameCube version so you couldn’t jump like the Wii version. Such a frustrating boss. Echoes was quite a challenging game.

    • @crywolfplays
      @crywolfplays  7 วันที่ผ่านมา +2

      I can definitely understand this - the weird part for me with the spider ball guardians is I feel like I have a different experience every time I play against it - sometimes it seems easy and other times it seems frustrating, I think it just depends on how well you happen to line up the bombs on any given run that determines your mileage - I should have probably talked about this one, but there's so many bosses I wasn't sure how long to make the video lol

    • @IntrestingYTObserver

      He's a slog on GCN for sure, his last phase has such a nasty time limit. You take so many trade hits, it's not even funny..
      I like that you can actually boost past him the first time you lower his force field if you get cornered by him though IIRC. Been a while since I fought Spider Guardian.

      imma give some insight, never really found the spider guardian hard because i used the zoom in feature to get a better look on the slop. It really helps it made the fight from frantic to a nice puzzle

    Incidentally, I was playing Prime 2 and fought the Alpha Blogg earlier today.
    It felt like it was just random whether it opens it's mouth when it charges you or not, and waiting for a boss that controls it's own weakness to "cooperate" is frustrating. Combine that with the check point issue, and you've got my least favorite boss in a game otherwise full of awesome bosses.

    • @crywolfplays
      @crywolfplays  วันที่ผ่านมา

      I think it always opens it's mouth but sometimes the window is very small and I agree it seemed kind of random of how big the window was, like sometimes it felt like you'd time it exactly the same but one time it would damage and one time it wouldn't. It's also annoying when it goes into its rage chomping thing because Samus can't dash far enough to get away. I agree, it's the worst boss in an otherwise awesome collection. I think it could be a cool boss with a couple tweaks

    How exactly did they change the Boost Guardian fight for the Trilogy? Is it just reduced damage and health, or do they change the behavior?
    It's been forever since I played on GameCube, but veteran difficulty on the trilogy certainly "felt" about the same as my memories of playing on GameCube.

    Alpha blog is so much worse than boost guardian. I’ve done plenty of randomizers where I’d have a whole range of equipment but I would never avoid boost guardian. But even with full gear I hated alpha blog-either he should be slower (so more of an attack window for you) or the arena should be larger.
