Picture this - a full on propeller suit that lets you move in water just like you can outside it. No more sluggish underwater movements, the suit will make it feel as if there isn't any water to begin with! And the great thing about it is that it would in a way make you feel as if you can fly. Edit: Just for clarification - you know the feeling when you try to punch or slap something underwater and the movement is very sluggish because of the water resistance - the suit would eliminate that water resistance thanks to propellers on each limb.
Unfortunately, even if every limb had propellers that could respond fast enough, there would still be that very same resistance against every other surface. It has not been negated, it has been overpowered... there are reasons that most fish and other creatures that live in the water are hydrodynamic, they have to work against that resistance as well and so they minimize the detriments and maximize the benefits of the denser medium. As Scotty would say, "Ya kinna break theh laws of physics!"
They would be great for diving might even be useful for underwater demo teams imagine a few seals with these on zipping up planting some mines and zipping away
This man is simply genius! If he and Mark Rober teamed up to take over the world, we would all be in serious trouble. Keep up the cool builds. Definitely make an iron man jet pack next time.
This could actually revolutionize how we can explore the deep ocean, emergency response people when it comes to water-vehicle accidents or when others are drowning or even just for recreational fun if it can be made more compact and safer. The purposes this could have are on a whole different level of possibility and just the notion of that amazes me. Amazing work man! 👏
theres already a device you hold onto that propels you forward underwater (sea scooters), plus then your legs are not tied to something. it also lasts much longer and it's far easier to control. also also they are like 15-30x cheaper.
You should legit patent these and start producing. Partner with a company that can help fine tune them and sell the freak out of these. It looks epic to be able to aquaman 'swim' across the water with your head out of the water. Epic dude!
I like the design where the propulsion is directly below the feet, instead of attached to the leg. I feel like that's a clever way to use our leg structure to support the upwards weight of the water being propelled. That being said, the axle is way to long for the speed it's rotating at. You should reinforce it with more bearings along the length of the rod, if you're going to improve upon this design. Also, please add a mesh in the "walls" and bottom of the propeller "cage", so nothing can get stuck and ripped off in it. If you're going to iterate the design, perhaps try to conceal the propeller, so it looks more like a jet engine instead of this "free-floating boat engine" looking thing. The "jet" design would allow you to add a nozzle (so perhaps you could gain extra lift without delivering more power) and you'd gain control over the position of the water intake point. That means you could take water from below the motor, so the motor could be above water, thus making you hover at a higher altitude. Finally, as others have said better than me, a battery backpack could offer benefits over having the batteries strapped directly to the contraption (less mass at the legs = more maneuverability, a centralized power delivery could mean a centralized control solution, you could more easily put the batteries on a boat and hovering indefinitely, at the cost of having a big long wire hanging off you in the water)
I to agree that the battery should be in a back pack also since the batteries are in a box with air in it’s making your feet buoyant and most likely making it hard to control
Dude imagine going for a swim and taking your swim shoes off the charger to be jesus (it sucks that the battery prob lasts for 1 and a half to 2 hours)
That sounds awesome, it’s like those really small submarines you hold on to as it propels you through the ocean. Only this is attached to your feet, most likely offers more mobility and could swim through smaller places
I'm honestly surprised that divers and such haven't already invented something like this to make diving much easier. I mean they have those little things that you hold with your arms but this seems much less intrusive and tiring.
I am not a diver and this just seems like a more expensive, easier to break, far more dangerous and lethal to yourself and sealife, and much more disruptive to the sealife, but also cooler alternative to swim fins
@@sodiboo I mean that's the low tech version Imagine a production variant with the same quality as those things Also to be brutally honest the sea life isn't a concern for everyone
All you need is a fin on each forearm and you would have an actual crazy good underwater propulsion system that would be easy to control. I think you accomplished something entirely different with this invention here bud and I encourage you to refine it. Looks way better then one of those propellers you hold in front of you.
Dude did you even realize how much potential this work has on the field of diving and rescue and retrieval?? Like bro just made a compact sea glide. Get this man a patent now
the problem here is they need to make it withstand pressure and make the battery bigger for safety or make the battery rechargeable but this isn't adviseable due to water pressure so just change the battery
There are already diving propulsion vehicles far more efficient and easier to control than this, also batteries of this one doesn't last long. I don't think this would be a practical invention, but it is a pretty fun invention, like having jet boots but in water, people would buy this.
@@zajirayman1729 well he recharged the battery in this vid, I feel like if he created these pre charged batterys that snap on, there could be certain training that’s required for (professionals) to learn how to switch batterys underwater, like air tanks
Imagine if you strapped the battery pack to your back that way you make the chassis on the feet smaller and easier to maneuver and even perhaps encase the module entirely to lower its drag in the water while leaving small intakes in the case for the water to flow in to while the propellers are active it’ll also be safer as it will leave less of the machinery exposed.
@@nickxenix hahahah lmao i get what you mean, but this type of gadget (like jetpacks/the spiderman wall stick-thingy that he did) are much more advance than shoes and gloves so you can't exactly compare them function wise.

I can't believe what you've built. I have literally dreamed all my life of being able to move gracefully underwater, like a dolphin. I hope sometime in my life I can feel that feeling. but your video gives me hope that maybe so.
Forget just "walking on water". Add a steering mechanism for maneuverability & design some better, less complicated, hardened plastic, stainless steel & aluminium parts (with sacrifice blocks of zinc) for the housing (especially reducing the manufacturing build stages), and market it to divers as an alternative to flippers.
Yeah this would be way cooler than those “dolphins”. That it frees up your hands is amazing. They would be great for spear fishing! Someone should get a patent on these things and make a nice aesthetically pleasing case ASAP. It would crush in the yacht industry where everyone wants the latest and greatest toys where moneys no object
I love this fun, creative, nerdy maker stuff. Especially the R&D -trial, error, rethinking, redesign, repeat. There is marketing potential here - divers, movie stunts, rescues, navy, tourists, etc. Looks like so much fun!
This looks cool, but it has some flaws in order to be able to stand on water. Divers just dont need to do that, so the gear is made more efficiently with the thrust at the gands.
This looks like a product you should run with. Continue developing it and maybe add some control surfaces so that by summer you can really rip with it.

Edit: Just for clarification - you know the feeling when you try to punch or slap something underwater and the movement is very sluggish because of the water resistance - the suit would eliminate that water resistance thanks to propellers on each limb.
That would be awesome to sneak up on people in boats or swimming, just rise up out of the water.
@@airrunnr thing is if you rise up the water you would be dolphin diving
Gotta make a cool suit now lol
Unfortunately, even if every limb had propellers that could respond fast enough, there would still be that very same resistance against every other surface. It has not been negated, it has been overpowered... there are reasons that most fish and other creatures that live in the water are hydrodynamic, they have to work against that resistance as well and so they minimize the detriments and maximize the benefits of the denser medium. As Scotty would say, "Ya kinna break theh laws of physics!"

@Alvin chanels 😂
