Think of the opposite of iroh and yoda. Instead of wise mentors that disguise themselves as bumbling fools, the main characters mentor is really just an insane old hermit.
what if they’re the main character? the story is about an old hermit who just wants to chill, but they keep getting sought out by annoying young heroes who want tutoring. at first they try to get rid of the unwanted company, but then they realise that if they just say some convoluted nonsense and make this kid do some chores, the problem will solve itself (and they get the laundry done). I can’t decide if it’s funnier if the heroes all succeed, or if they all die. the hermit certainly doesn’t care.

Bully returns months later apologizing. They decide to be friends. Ex-bully apologizing every time their relationship is mentioned and is best wing-man/woman/non-binary person. MC gets into more relationships Wing-Man is emotional support. They break-up. MC gets with someone else. They break-up. Repeat.

Imagine old enemies having to see each other every day, recounting their encounters and always trying to one-up each other with their stories. That would genuinely be amazing.

I once read a fic where there was only one bed, but the characters fought about who should sleep on the bed and who should sleep on the floor. They ended up sleeping next to each other on the floor. The Un-Chosen One: someone who is specifically forbidden from participating in the plot. Any time they try to get involved, either some outside force keeps them back or the people actually carrying out the plot move somewhere else. Just imagine a thrilling battle between the hero and the dark lord, the un-chosen one shows up ready to help, and the hero and the dark lord both just stop what they’re doing and agree to postpone the battle to next week
I mean honestly that sounds like a nice power to have. You don't get involved in any life or death shenanigans and there'll be many people willing to hire you to prevent their city from taking the collateral damage of hero vs villain fights.
or the story follows a Merchant who sells their wares to a Stranger that ends up gaining fame but never credits the merchant, which leads them to become the "Villain"

My character absolutely refuses to fulfill his destiny of saving a ton of people and has been playing in his enemies hands a while, so this would be a great quote for a villain. “While you have refused to play your role in the world and chaos has run rampant under my watchful eye, you haven’t realized that less trust you. Make it a comedy in a Caiphas Cain sort of way. He tries to escape his destiny yet since the universe has made him the chosen one everything always goes against his plans of being a selfish prick.

He just refuses to do things the “right way.” People tell him to gain Allie’s to fight against the unbelievably powerful enemies he’s going up against, instead he makes more enemies. People tell him to gain power from magical objects to counteract stuff, he doesn’t. He can’t seem to come out on top, and he has frequent mental breakdowns from the manipulative psychos killing the only people in the world he cares about.
I really like the idea of the "unchosen one". Like it would sound good as an animal comedy where everyone is fighting and chosen to be the hero, while the main character is just standing buy getting caught in the middle of it and is a screw up.

A reverse isekai already exists in 'The Devil is a Part-Timer'. The Demon King, the Hero, and other fantasy people, now unable to use their magic, must face their greatest challenge yet: paying rent while working minimum wage. I'd like to say it's Demon King x Hero enemies to lovers, but then the ending happened (still a fun series, though).
Actually the found enemies thing where they all gradually grow to hate each other sounds like a great dynamic for a really depressing dystopia or apocalypse story.
This is the plot of "The Monsters are Due on Maple Street" an episode of the Twilight Zone. Or it would be, if you could consider a half hour episode of television a gradual progression. Debatably true of the episode "Ice" from X-Files. Or other episodes where their brains are altered. Maybe Yellowjackets.
Since a love 'triangle' (its actually just a love angle, but I won't get into that) usually partakes in 2 people liking the protagonist and hating eachother because of it, would that mean a hate triangle would be 2 people falling in love over thier mutual seething hate for the main character?
To me, a love triangle means- one person likes another person. The another person likes a third person. And the third person likes the first person. I know I isn't portrayed like this in movies and books because straight but your idea of hate triangle is even better. Kinda reminds me of the old Pokemon anime. Team Rocket feel like a chaotic couple and Ash is their greatest enemy.
I love the concept of the anti-Sue (opposite of Mary Sue) where the person just has tremendously dull and mundane day to day problems but just outside of their knowledge, everyone around them is experiencing absolute chaotic soap-opera plotlines. They then meet up with said friend or family and the chaos just “non-exists” for the moment and said family or friend relies on anti-Sue for some sense of normalcy in their lives and for some reason never brings up the chaotic dramatic plot stuff around said anti-Sue who just casually “logics” their way towards explaining away the weird stuff.
Anti-Sue sleepily watching microwaving a hot pocket, checking phone. Meanwhile outside the kitchen window you see blips of an epic anime-superhero battle. There’s a crash outside, anti-sue groggily looks up from phone “oh my hot pocket is done”

The Unchosen One and the Anti-Sue are already tropes. They have pages on TV Tropes. The Unchosen One is a hero who chooses to save the day despite not being the Chosen One. The Anti-Sue is a failed attempt at un-Sueifying a character by inverting all the Sue traits (ex: super pretty to super ugly, super nice to super mean).

But I do remember reading summaries and watching reviews of several isekai anime and light novels which all basically go like "protagonist gets transported to another world to save that world/end the war/defeat the evil demon king/etc. but he doesn't because he doesn't want to be a hero/is a wimp/is busy building a harem instead/likes the demon king's side more/...".
The problem with Anti-Sues is that they still occupy the same narrative function even if their traits are reversed. The whole universe still circles inexplicably around them, bending over backwards to make her the focal point of the plot, even if it is in a "negative" sense instead of the worship and love a normal Sue is showered with. I think what the video suggested would technically "fix" that issue because it specifically mentions how the plot doesn't facilitate them. I think it would be incredibly boring to read, but that's besides the point.
Reverse one bed troupe, both parties are secretly really into each other so they decide to book a one bed hotel room behind each others backs to see if they truly have a connection. Unfortunately, due to hilarious shenanigans and miscommunication they BOTH book a one bedroom room. The hotel accidentally overbooked them so both characters end up with a room with two beds. They give one of the rooms to someone who came in last minute and go to their room, both bummed out because their master plans failed. Then there are two routes this could go: A: The characters mope around all night in their separate beds like the angsty fools they are. Or B: Late at night neither character can sleep so they stay up and talk for a while and one of them accidentally confesses. They then push their beds together and live their dorky one bed troupe dreams
The unchosen one where you accidentally take the chosen ones place so the world is in the hands of some one who is not prepared or even able too save it.
Birth mystery? What about resurrection mystery? Nobody can tell who revived the person, including the person who was revived, and they're all trying to figure it out :)

I really want to write a story like this. Like a character who went through a lot of trauma, and starts completely in the bottom of the barrel. But as his journey progresses he starts to find people who he loves and make his life genuinely worth living.

When taking something like 'the Unchosen One', I think of someone who's specifically *not* chosen, because they were deemed unfit. But it could also mean they used to be Chosen, but have been un-Chosen. I hadn't even thought of the entire world being chosen except for the Unchosen One.

The Jedi were arrogant AF, so they assumed "balance" could only mean putting them into undisputed power over the entire galaxy, but what it actually meant is that both Jedi and Sith needed to be taken out of the picture. I think an Unchosen One would be Kung Lao from Mortal Kombat. He could have been the Chosen One but was deemed unfit because of his arrogance.
The main character of the anime TSUKIMICHI -Moonlit Fantasy was transported to a fantasy world to be a hero by a goddess, but as soon as the goddess saw how "ugly" he was, she revoked her blessing and sent him to the very edge of the world to die.
For real, though: Two people who genuinely like and respect each other and have good chemistry but are _still_ enemies who honestly want to fight each other to the death is totally a valid concept. This was basically the entire thing between Saber and Lancer in Fate/Zero and it remains one of the most interesting relationships I've ever seen. Like, they had the utmost respect for one another and would have been great friends in _any_ other context, but they just happened to be enemies and all they wanted was a fair fight between the two of them. And both of them were totally fine with that. It wasn't even romantic, just: "Damn, this person is _fucking awesome!_ I really want to fight him/her."
The fact that I have legitimately read 8 of these tropes, some more than others, is my wake up call that I have fallen way to far down the Fan Fiction rabbit hole and there isn't a rope long enough to reach me. Reverse of "anime protag almost dies fighting strong villain, but is revived/strengthened by power of friendship" Anime protag is (Whether it's deserved or not) absolutely HATED by literally everyone they meet. (Could definitely be an anti-sue) In the final bit, their whole party gets killed, & Villain saves Protag for last, but they're not dying for some reason. As it turns out, every (Now dead) person they met along the journey hates Protag SO much that when he shows up next to them in the afterlife, they all agree to unceremoniously shove his soul back into his body & make sure he stays there by mending fatal damage with cool dead person magic, but Villain keeps killing him, so they GANK VILLAIN'S ASS STRAIGHT TO HELL, & boom, world saved from Villain. Also Death puts Protag in the special little sad closet for anti-sues.

He's a complete jerk anti-hero, and though his healing factor and superhuman toughness render him very difficult to kill, he has actually died and gone to hell before. Problem is, he caused so much mayhem down there that *Hell spat him back out.* Then the powers that be thought, "hey, if Hell hates him that much, that must mean he belongs in Heaven." NOPE. He was as much of a problem up there and they kicked him out too, further decreeing that Death was forbidden from reaping his soul int he future. Having been rejected by both afterlives, Lobo's pretty much just inflicted upon the world of the living

So they pretented to be enemies to keep their relationship hidden. Spolier: the ending is that one of them proposes to the other in a game of Pictionary during faculty game night.

Like, “Sorry we don't got any one or two people rooms, may you use this one” says the receptionist and leaves them alone with a six-persons room. A and B just go ¿? and idk why that sounds so funny. “So... Are we just supposed to ignore all of these...?” “Um... I guess so...” Literally a 100% pointless plot but somehow I want to see it happening.
Probably could lead to a plot where they have to get rid of all the beds as the sheer amount blocks all other things in the room, including the bathroom.
I learned from Shadiversity that in the old days Inns would often save money and resources by having 1 or 2 really big beds. A subversion could there is only one bed but there's already six people in it and you and your traveling companion have to share it with everyone else.
I'm thinking about a similar plot but more extreme. It's like they're going in a villa or something or maybe they join a game show and the house is just filled entirely with beds

Plot twist: the person on the end of your string has read red string of fate fics, and is way too into it and too high energy for you. The resulting dynamic is you trying to get rid of them. Strong "Just you, me, and this brick wall you built between us" vibes.

“Birth mystery” is every plot where a kid gets left on a doorstep at a young age and then, when they’re older, quests to find their birth parents. (And is probably rather common among kids in the real world who get dropped off as part of those “no questions asked” baby abandonment programs.)
Something similar to the Unchosen One I’ve seen is something where the prophecy foretelling six heroes vanquishing the villain is purposefully vague, and there’s a LOT more than six heroes opposing the evil forces. So everyone, including the seven main characters, acknowledge that they may or may not be one of the prophecized heroes.
I feel like the one at 2:16 is something that's definitely happened in real life these days with how intense college admissions are. So I could absolutely see a nerd guy being in all APs and multiple clubs and being absolutely way too sleep deprived to notice and possible romance. It's sad that this is something that could be more and more common now, but it would also be pretty interesting to read stories about.

I had a bit too much fun with that trope, to the point where it's probably really obnoxious for the readers but I'm enjoying it too much to stop? 😅 My protagonist learns that she's the chosen one, but just as she gets used to the position, she finds out that she isn't just not the chosen one, but literally the LAST person who should be doing this and everyone she knows is technically more of a chosen one than her (and they all knew and never told her). When she finally resolves herself to do it anyways, out of her own free will, it turns out that she's indirectly the chosen one after all because she's the only one who did have the solution all along - but the solution actually sucks, so it all doesn't matter in the end and everyone has to figure out a way to fix the world themselves 🤷♀️
An idea about "too many beds": 2 characters end up being so unnerved by the amount of beds (and, more specifically, the amount of space that comes with them) that they end up taking one together or the two beds closest to each other for comfort.

The magical world kicking you out into the real world has been done before in a movie called Enchanted. It is a disney movie and my favorite disney princess is from it, princess Giselle.

For the unchosen one. There is this book called "The rest of us just lives here" by Patrick Ness. It's about a group of ordinary teens in a world where chosen ones exist. The teens try to go on with their daily lives, meanwhile in the background the chosen ones are having love triangles, fight immortal beings that are trying to take over the world, betray one another, die etc.
Too many beds: Two characters are sick of having to set up everyone else’s cots so they just tell everyone all the mattresses got lost and then go snuggle up together under a couple blankets

I just thought of one: A husband and wife are in a good relationship, they progress through the plot through much effort and teamwork, and are still in a healthy loving relationship by the end of the story.
A few I came up with: “Mc’s future self travels back in time to tell them how much better it’s gonna get and give the mc determination to carry on” “Humans are allergic to caffeine and the aliens who aren’t give them some and it all falls apart quickly afterwards” “Horror house? Nono the outside world is a filled with dangerous monsters and the main characters get curious and venture outside after spending their entire life in the safety of a house protected from the ghosts and ghouls” < I think this one would be a good manga And finally! “The writer has two Ocs that are dating/crushing on each other and the canon character is just a third wheel” bc that NEVER happens
1) Jack of no trades, master of all: could do anything perfectly even with no training... but is just too lazy to bother. 2) Inverse Isekai: Some guy is already stupidbrokenop in the real world and gets hit by Truck-kun. Meanwhile, in the fantasy world, the wizards/priests trying to summon the legendary hero to defeat the Demon King are surprised when a goddamn truck appears in their magic circle. 3) The "Choosing" One: The prophecy, which was old and written in Ancient-ese which is a very nuanced language, was mistranslated. Everyone thought "The Chosen One" was a specific person picked by destiny but it was actually "The Choosing One"; anyone who just made the choice to kill the tyrant demon king could have done it all along, but no one did because they expected the "Chosen Hero" would do it for them. 4) Lawsuit by Combat: Inverse of "Trial by Combat". Civil litigation is determined by duels and "Combat Attorney" is a well respected profession that both writes the legal documents as well as fights the duel for you.

The strongest hero becomes the weakest peasant. In less than a year, they go from being the strongest, unrivalled hero to being the weakest, forgettable peasant whilst on a long adventure to go from dangerous lands to a quiet peaceful village that is untouched by danger and war.
I fucking love Fake Enemies trope for the aftermath of Enemies To Lovers. They aren't ready to tell everyone yet so they act like they still hate each other.
The Unchosen One reminds me of a post I saw once (I think it was on Tumblr) where someone said they wanted to see a story where the protagonist is a typical chosen one but spends the entire story trying to avoid their fate, and eventually they are successful and get to live in a nice cabin in the woods with a bunch of cats and all the world leaders and government officials manage to get their shit together on their own

I'm imagining the cast of MHA playing bingo or backgammon all day and occasionally receiving visits from reluctant grandkids who wind up being regaled with stories of their old battles against their will only to find that they actually kind of enjoy the quality time.
Some Ideas of mine: Mafia boss hates Y/N and leaves them when they need help. Slow burn but they slowly start hating each other instead of love. Lovers to friends two people are forced to be together but they realise they like each other in a platonic way. Disgust at first sight, A couple has been catfishing each other since they both are bad looking and they fall in love when they finally meet up they both get a divorce/two people meet each other for the first time but they begin to become enemies. The main character has a lot of crushes but they all aren't interested in him. They end up in a polyamorous relationship with each other while the main character is getting wasted. The main character is a narracist and can't ever tell the truth. The main character is beat up. they d!e but the person is not arrested (this is a reserve situation to ones where the main character gets a huge power up and defeats the villain because of friendship and justice).
I honestly want a story where nothing dramatic happens,it's just you wake up and make breakfast and proceed to have a chill day(ect.) . And it stays that way the whole story. My anxiety can barely handle the action/suspense stories where it's constantly action.
An idea for Soulmates-as-Enemies: A government creates a law that people with the same birthmark have to kill each other and have one (or no) survivor to reduce the population. The main characters despise each other and have no problem trying to do this but end up falling in love along the way (enemies to lovers sorry). This ends in either: 1) Someone still being killed, love did not conquer all. OR 2) They hide their birthmarks so they don't have to kill one another and try to live inconspicuously and happily together. Mistakes happen along the way. :)
I feel the soulmates as enemies (soulnemesis? soulfoe?) concept is better if the matching people know that they're bound to kill each other (but isn't actively pursuing to do so, or at least if this was the case it's one-sided) but getting to know each other, they actually get along really well and develop a close bond, but is still aware (or often reminding themselves whenever they keep their guard down) that one of them will off the other in the end oh, but the world just wants them to hate each other so like, the narrative keeps putting their trust to the test and depending on how much they're able to handle they could just fulfill their destiny as nemeses bound by soul idk when I think of inverse soulmates I first thought of how Norse deities/figures are fated to fight each other to the death in the Ragnarok, e.g. Loki and Heimdall as a notable example
the anti sue is funny to me cuz at current my oc tends to just be a normal dude who isn't remarkable they just work in the archival department like they have the edgy dark past of a mary sue but isn't doesn't mean much. They are just a nice person who does paper work
I imagined the Un-Chosen One as more of an ex-chosen one. Great power and responsibility was placed on their shoulders, but then they outed themselves as a TERF on Twitter and now their original destiny has been revoked. The ancients proceed to erase the prophecy like doodles on a whiteboard and start looking for someone who hopefully won’t make them have to rewrite an entire stone tablet just to direct the new hero accordingly.
That would be an interesting twist to explore: “The chosen one is problematic, can we, like, find a different chosen one, please?” And then you could take that a number of different ways: “no, deal with it” / “someone else surely fits the requirements, go find them” / “chosen one learns the error of their ways” / “the problematic thing is antithetical to the chosen task and so the chosen one only does it accidentally/against their will”...
The unchosen one kinda reminds me of a game called Wander Song. In the game you play as a Bard, and end up going on a journey to save the word or whatever, but they're not meant to be the chosen one. The hero is someone else. Sometimes you'll come across defeated enemies and it will give you an achievement as if you just defeated them, like your playing as the hero when your actually just the bard and only seen the aftermath.
How about we do reverse stories? Like, a person rubs a lamp and a genie appears to grant them 3 wishes. Instead of wishing, they decide to try to destroy the genie and his lamp because they realize that making the wishes will only make them and possibly the world miserable. Along the way, they discover a bunch of lost truths and ends genie’s for good after revealing their evils. Edit: Bonus points if it’s a young kid. This kid could be a kid that’s really smart for their age

what if they’re the main character? the story is about an old hermit who just wants to chill, but they keep getting sought out by annoying young heroes who want tutoring. at first they try to get rid of the unwanted company, but then they realise that if they just say some convoluted nonsense and make this kid do some chores, the problem will solve itself (and they get the laundry done).
I can’t decide if it’s funnier if the heroes all succeed, or if they all die. the hermit certainly doesn’t care.

The Un-Chosen One: someone who is specifically forbidden from participating in the plot. Any time they try to get involved, either some outside force keeps them back or the people actually carrying out the plot move somewhere else. Just imagine a thrilling battle between the hero and the dark lord, the un-chosen one shows up ready to help, and the hero and the dark lord both just stop what they’re doing and agree to postpone the battle to next week
I mean honestly that sounds like a nice power to have. You don't get involved in any life or death shenanigans and there'll be many people willing to hire you to prevent their city from taking the collateral damage of hero vs villain fights.
That's just deliberate exclusion (a form of bullying) 💀
or the story follows a Merchant who sells their wares to a Stranger that ends up gaining fame but never credits the merchant, which leads them to become the "Villain"

My character absolutely refuses to fulfill his destiny of saving a ton of people and has been playing in his enemies hands a while, so this would be a great quote for a villain. “While you have refused to play your role in the world and chaos has run rampant under my watchful eye, you haven’t realized that less trust you. Their blind faith in you will become unbridled hatred in good time, you foolish Un-Chosen one.”

Make it a comedy in a Caiphas Cain sort of way. He tries to escape his destiny yet since the universe has made him the chosen one everything always goes against his plans of being a selfish prick.

He just refuses to do things the “right way.” People tell him to gain Allie’s to fight against the unbelievably powerful enemies he’s going up against, instead he makes more enemies. People tell him to gain power from magical objects to counteract stuff, he doesn’t.
He can’t seem to come out on top, and he has frequent mental breakdowns from the manipulative psychos killing the only people in the world he cares about.
I really like the idea of the "unchosen one". Like it would sound good as an animal comedy where everyone is fighting and chosen to be the hero, while the main character is just standing buy getting caught in the middle of it and is a screw up.

Since a love 'triangle' (its actually just a love angle, but I won't get into that) usually partakes in 2 people liking the protagonist and hating eachother because of it, would that mean a hate triangle would be 2 people falling in love over thier mutual seething hate for the main character?
That would just be the plot of The Legend of Korra (kind of)

To me, a love triangle means- one person likes another person. The another person likes a third person. And the third person likes the first person. I know I isn't portrayed like this in movies and books because straight but your idea of hate triangle is even better. Kinda reminds me of the old Pokemon anime. Team Rocket feel like a chaotic couple and Ash is their greatest enemy.

I love the concept of the anti-Sue (opposite of Mary Sue) where the person just has tremendously dull and mundane day to day problems but just outside of their knowledge, everyone around them is experiencing absolute chaotic soap-opera plotlines. They then meet up with said friend or family and the chaos just “non-exists” for the moment and said family or friend relies on anti-Sue for some sense of normalcy in their lives and for some reason never brings up the chaotic dramatic plot stuff around said anti-Sue who just casually “logics” their way towards explaining away the weird stuff.
Anti-Sue sleepily watching microwaving a hot pocket, checking phone. Meanwhile outside the kitchen window you see blips of an epic anime-superhero battle. There’s a crash outside, anti-sue groggily looks up from phone “oh my hot pocket is done”

The Unchosen One and the Anti-Sue are already tropes. They have pages on TV Tropes.
The Unchosen One is a hero who chooses to save the day despite not being the Chosen One.
The Anti-Sue is a failed attempt at un-Sueifying a character by inverting all the Sue traits (ex: super pretty to super ugly, super nice to super mean).
I've noticed that many Anti-Sues are just self-inserts.

@@cyclone-studio18 I think this is very common in isekai nowadays, though I can't name any because I avoid that genre like the plague. But I do remember reading summaries and watching reviews of several isekai anime and light novels which all basically go like "protagonist gets transported to another world to save that world/end the war/defeat the evil demon king/etc. but he doesn't because he doesn't want to be a hero/is a wimp/is busy building a harem instead/likes the demon king's side more/...".
The problem with Anti-Sues is that they still occupy the same narrative function even if their traits are reversed. The whole universe still circles inexplicably around them, bending over backwards to make her the focal point of the plot, even if it is in a "negative" sense instead of the worship and love a normal Sue is showered with.
I think what the video suggested would technically "fix" that issue because it specifically mentions how the plot doesn't facilitate them. I think it would be incredibly boring to read, but that's besides the point.
Reverse one bed troupe, both parties are secretly really into each other so they decide to book a one bed hotel room behind each others backs to see if they truly have a connection.
Unfortunately, due to hilarious shenanigans and miscommunication they BOTH book a one bedroom room. The hotel accidentally overbooked them so both characters end up with a room with two beds.
They give one of the rooms to someone who came in last minute and go to their room, both bummed out because their master plans failed.
Then there are two routes this could go:
A: The characters mope around all night in their separate beds like the angsty fools they are.
Or
B: Late at night neither character can sleep so they stay up and talk for a while and one of them accidentally confesses.
They then push their beds together and live their dorky one bed troupe dreams

I think an Unchosen One would be Kung Lao from Mortal Kombat. He could have been the Chosen One but was deemed unfit because of his arrogance.
The main character of the anime TSUKIMICHI -Moonlit Fantasy was transported to a fantasy world to be a hero by a goddess, but as soon as the goddess saw how "ugly" he was, she revoked her blessing and sent him to the very edge of the world to die.

For real, though: Two people who genuinely like and respect each other and have good chemistry but are _still_ enemies who honestly want to fight each other to the death is totally a valid concept.
This was basically the entire thing between Saber and Lancer in Fate/Zero and it remains one of the most interesting relationships I've ever seen. Like, they had the utmost respect for one another and would have been great friends in _any_ other context, but they just happened to be enemies and all they wanted was a fair fight between the two of them. And both of them were totally fine with that.
It wasn't even romantic, just: "Damn, this person is _fucking awesome!_ I really want to fight him/her."
The fact that I have legitimately read 8 of these tropes, some more than others, is my wake up call that I have fallen way to far down the Fan Fiction rabbit hole and there isn't a rope long enough to reach me. Anime protag is (Whether it's deserved or not) absolutely HATED by literally everyone they meet. (Could definitely be an anti-sue)
In the final bit, their whole party gets killed, & Villain saves Protag for last, but they're not dying for some reason. As it turns out, every (Now dead) person they met along the journey hates Protag SO much that when he shows up next to them in the afterlife, they all agree to unceremoniously shove his soul back into his body & make sure he stays there by mending fatal damage with cool dead person magic, but Villain keeps killing him, so they GANK VILLAIN'S ASS STRAIGHT TO HELL, & boom, world saved from Villain. Also Death puts Protag in the special little sad closet for anti-sues.
You jest, but the mechanic of shoving someone back out of the afterlife every time they die is legit something i use for an oc of mine.

That first one reminds me of an episode of Steven Universe future where two characters don’t get along and they’re fusing to fight him but then they fall apart and Steven TRIES to get them to the good side but they both agree he’s just too annoying and fuse again.

This reminds me of DC Comics' Lobo. He's a complete jerk anti-hero, and though his healing factor and superhuman toughness render him very difficult to kill, he has actually died and gone to hell before. Problem is, he caused so much mayhem down there that *Hell spat him back out.* Then the powers that be thought, "hey, if Hell hates him that much, that must mean he belongs in Heaven." NOPE. He was as much of a problem up there and they kicked him out too, further decreeing that Death was forbidden from reaping his soul int he future.
Having been rejected by both afterlives, Lobo's pretty much just inflicted upon the world of the living

Maybe overloaded with power? Maybe accidentally stabbed by a friend? Perhaps they were supposed to be powered up by this near-death experience but, you know, the legends weren't true and the protagonist just kinda dies

I once read one were this couple got hired at the same school, and because they didn't know if relationships between teachers were allowed. So they pretented to be enemies to keep their relationship hidden.

A and B just go ¿? and idk why that sounds so funny. “So... Are we just supposed to ignore all of these...?” “Um... I guess so...” Literally a 100% pointless plot but somehow I want to see it happening.
Probably could lead to a plot where they have to get rid of all the beds as the sheer amount blocks all other things in the room, including the bathroom.

I learned from Shadiversity that in the old days Inns would often save money and resources by having 1 or 2 really big beds. A subversion could there is only one bed but there's already six people in it and you and your traveling companion have to share it with everyone else.
They jokingly split up to decide which ones are the most comfortable beds and they end up at the same one.
I'm thinking about a similar plot but more extreme. It's like they're going in a villa or something or maybe they join a game show and the house is just filled entirely with beds

I unironically like the idea of a hate triangle. Either two people with a mortal hatred for the same person getting into conflict to see who's going to kill/ruin them, or really just three people who hate each other's guts.
Its the "Only I'm allowed to kill this person!" Trope, but both of the villains have that mindset.

“Birth mystery” is every plot where a kid gets left on a doorstep at a young age and then, when they’re older, quests to find their birth parents. (And is probably rather common among kids in the real world who get dropped off as part of those “no questions asked” baby abandonment programs.)
Something similar to the Unchosen One I’ve seen is something where the prophecy foretelling six heroes vanquishing the villain is purposefully vague, and there’s a LOT more than six heroes opposing the evil forces. So everyone, including the seven main characters, acknowledge that they may or may not be one of the prophecized heroes.

I feel like the one at 2:16 is something that's definitely happened in real life these days with how intense college admissions are. So I could absolutely see a nerd guy being in all APs and multiple clubs and being absolutely way too sleep deprived to notice and possible romance. My protagonist learns that she's the chosen one, but just as she gets used to the position, she finds out that she isn't just not the chosen one, but literally the LAST person who should be doing this and everyone she knows is technically more of a chosen one than her (and they all knew and never told her). When she finally resolves herself to do it anyways, out of her own free will, it turns out that she's indirectly the chosen one after all because she's the only one who did have the solution all along - but the solution actually sucks, so it all doesn't matter in the end and everyone has to figure out a way to fix the world themselves 🤷♀️

For the unchosen one. There is this book called "The rest of us just lives here" by Patrick Ness. It's about a group of ordinary teens in a world where chosen ones exist. The teens try to go on with their daily lives, meanwhile in the background the chosen ones are having love triangles, fight immortal beings that are trying to take over the world, betray one another, die etc.
Though I must admit that I absolutly despises the ending of that book. I didn't find it even slightly satisfying.
Too many beds: Two characters are sick of having to set up everyone else’s cots so they just tell everyone all the mattresses got lost and then go snuggle up together under a couple blankets
Too many beds set in infinite ikea where the couple is so scared that they sleep in the same bed just to avoid the insanity of isolation
half of these would make legitimate interesting plotlines/improve cliché tropes and the other half would probably just make me cry. Lost family? I'm already sobbing

I just thought of one: A husband and wife are in a good relationship, they progress through the plot through much effort and teamwork, and are still in a healthy loving relationship by the end of the story.

Honestly, there are shades of it in most next-gen sequels.
1) Jack of no trades, master of all: could do anything perfectly even with no training... but is just too lazy to bother.
2) Inverse Isekai: Some guy is already stupidbrokenop in the real world and gets hit by Truck-kun. Meanwhile, in the fantasy world, the wizards/priests trying to summon the legendary hero to defeat the Demon King are surprised when a goddamn truck appears in their magic circle.
3) The "Choosing" One: The prophecy, which was old and written in Ancient-ese which is a very nuanced language, was mistranslated. Everyone thought "The Chosen One" was a specific person picked by destiny but it was actually "The Choosing One"; anyone who just made the choice to kill the tyrant demon king could have done it all along, but no one did because they expected the "Chosen Hero" would do it for them.
4) Lawsuit by Combat: Inverse of "Trial by Combat". Civil litigation is determined by duels and "Combat Attorney" is a well respected profession that both writes the legal documents as well as fights the duel for you.

The strongest hero becomes the weakest peasant. In less than a year, they go from being the strongest, unrivalled hero to being the weakest, forgettable peasant whilst on a long adventure to go from dangerous lands to a quiet peaceful village that is untouched by danger and war.
A kids movie where the entire thing is sung and danced except for the ending where they just stand around and talk normally

The Unchosen One reminds me of a post I saw once (I think it was on Tumblr) where someone said they wanted to see a story where the protagonist is a typical chosen one but spends the entire story trying to avoid their fate, and eventually they are successful and get to live in a nice cabin in the woods with a bunch of cats and all the world leaders and government officials manage to get their shit together on their own

Some Ideas of mine:
Mafia boss hates Y/N and leaves them when they need help.
Slow burn but they slowly start hating each other instead of love.
Lovers to friends two people are forced to be together but they realise they like each other in a platonic way.
Disgust at first sight, A couple has been catfishing each other since they both are bad looking and they fall in love when they finally meet up they both get a divorce/two people meet each other for the first time but they begin to become enemies.
The main character has a lot of crushes but they all aren't interested in him. They end up in a polyamorous relationship with each other while the main character is getting wasted.
The main character is a narracist and can't ever tell the truth.
The main character is beat up. they d!e but the person is not arrested (this is a reserve situation to ones where the main character gets a huge power up and defeats the villain because of friendship and justice).
The second one should be called Slow Roast
6th one is just the unreliable narrator trope 💀

An idea for Soulmates-as-Enemies:
A government creates a law that people with the same birthmark have to kill each other and have one (or no) survivor to reduce the population. The main characters despise each other and have no problem trying to do this but end up falling in love along the way (enemies to lovers sorry).
This ends in either:
1) Someone still being killed, love did not conquer all.
OR
2) They hide their birthmarks so they don't have to kill one another and try to live inconspicuously and happily together. Mistakes happen along the way. :)
As someone who is a sucker for enemies to lovers, this sounds really good

I feel the soulmates as enemies (soulnemesis? soulfoe?) concept is better if the matching people know that they're bound to kill each other (but isn't actively pursuing to do so, or at least if this was the case it's one-sided) but getting to know each other, they actually get along really well and develop a close bond, but is still aware (or often reminding themselves whenever they keep their guard down) that one of them will off the other in the end
oh, but the world just wants them to hate each other so like, the narrative keeps putting their trust to the test and depending on how much they're able to handle they could just fulfill their destiny as nemeses bound by soul
idk when I think of inverse soulmates I first thought of how Norse deities/figures are fated to fight each other to the death in the Ragnarok, e.g. Loki and Heimdall as a notable example

I imagined the Un-Chosen One as more of an ex-chosen one. Great power and responsibility was placed on their shoulders, but then they outed themselves as a TERF on Twitter and now their original destiny has been revoked.
The ancients proceed to erase the prophecy like doodles on a whiteboard and start looking for someone who hopefully won’t make them have to rewrite an entire stone tablet just to direct the new hero accordingly.

That would be an interesting twist to explore: “The chosen one is problematic, can we, like, find a different chosen one, please?”
And then you could take that a number of different ways: “no, deal with it” / “someone else surely fits the requirements, go find them” / “chosen one learns the error of their ways” / “the problematic thing is antithetical to the chosen task and so the chosen one only does it accidentally/against their will”...

The unchosen one kinda reminds me of a game called Wander Song. In the game you play as a Bard, and end up going on a journey to save the word or whatever, but they're not meant to be the chosen one. The hero is someone else. Sometimes you'll come across defeated enemies and it will give you an achievement as if you just defeated them, like your playing as the hero when your actually just the bard and only seen the aftermath.
How about we do reverse stories? Like, a person rubs a lamp and a genie appears to grant them 3 wishes. Instead of wishing, they decide to try to destroy the genie and his lamp because they realize that making the wishes will only make them and possibly the world miserable. Along the way, they discover a bunch of lost truths and ends genie’s for good after revealing their evils.
Edit: Bonus points if it’s a young kid. This kid could be a kid that’s really smart for their age
