Hey Jamal! I had the great fortune to see Celia Cruz and Tito Punte at Kimballs East in Oakland CA in the early 90s. I will never forget! Everyone in the place was dancing, everyone. bartenders waiters even the security guards. Ever since thats what I think heaven will be like. No hate ,no differenced, just pure love and rhythmic joy all together dancing.

The Fania All Stars is the most important orchestra of salsa for ever. Each musician had his own orchestra en Johnny Pacheco got them together to promote them under the label called "Fania Records".
The guy directing the orchestra was Johnny Pacheco, a dominican, and the singer was Celia Cruz " la cubanota " the best thing to ever come out of Cuba. they were all working for the Fania All Stars back then. This song mixes salsa, guaguanco, son, rumba y timba. They are all cuban rythms. I hope you enjoyed it.
The band leader guy is from the Dominican Republic and raised in the South Bronx, NY Johnny Pacheco, the co-founder of la Fania all-stars with all Salsa best singers. They went to Africa and also filled out the Yankees stadium sold-out concert.
The brass was just top. We have Vitin Paz, first trumpet, very skilled panamanian musician. The orchestra have excelent musicians. Top singers. Ismael, Cheo.

That concert was beyond amazing. All the musicians were masters in their art. Salsa was born in NY in part thanks to the migration of Caribbean people to USA. The majority of the musicians in that orchestra were Puerto Rican's, but Dominicans (as Johnny Pacheco, the conductor and flutist and who, as far as I know, named this music "Salsa") and Cuban (as Celia Cruz and Mongo Santamaría [who collaborate with Fania All Star, but I don't think was in this concert]) representation were as important. Also Larry Harlow (the pianist) is Jewish and study music in Cuba and I think there was other member of the orchestra that were Jewish that grew up in Spanish Harlem. Jorge Santana (Mexican), brother of Carlos Santana also made a guest appearance. Fania All Star includes great musicians names, and just in the chorus of this song you can find Puerto Rico's greatest singers as Hector Lavoe, Cheo Feliciano (my favorite, El Ratón song in this concert is amazing and another song of his is Anacaona) Ismael Miranda, Ismael Quintana, Santos Colón and many others! You also have in this orchestra world renown percussionists as Ray Barreto, Roberto Roena (who is also a great dancer, see Ponte Duro), and Nicky Marrero. I will stop because this is too much info.
