Cross gen isn’t really Nintendo’s style. The only reason they did it with BOTW is because the Wii U sold horribly and they wanted to honor their commitment to Wii U console owners, while making it available to as many console owners as possible. Switch has a massive 140 million unit install base. There’s no need to go cross gen with Metroid Prime 4. Listen, they will say nothing about new hardware, mention nothing about new hardware, and if the question comes up they either saying nothing or deny anything is happening. The most you can possibly get is a codename.... CODENAME STEAM 2 BABY!! 10x that insane difficult spike, punish me harder daddy Intelligent Systems!! Seriously though, there is a chance for a REVEAL TRAILER in September or October for 2024, release in March 2025. This is the absolute earliest you will get anything outside of a possible codename reveal for a new console.
I think the Direct (should it happen, which I think it will) is going to give us a strong indication of what we have in store for 2024 in terms of whether Nintendo is going to try to ride OG Switch out for one more year and launch the Switch successor in 2025, or if they plan on launching it in 2024. In my opinion, 2024 should be the play and I do think it’s coming this year. However if this Direct brings us a bunch of bombshells for new games releasing this year that we previously did not know about, my opinion might change.
You overlook a number of good arguments why it isn’t needed. First, not making an anticipated announcement is probably the best way to confirm speculation that this is the year of Switch 2 without making a material statement about the release which inherently affects the stock price Second, there is enough clarity until April to move the direct to coincide with those earning reports - which is the big annual report of the entire fiscal year. Third, No E3 means it’s possible to wait to make announcements until Games Con and Tokyo Game Show. Fourth, Nintendo is shortening the length of time between announcements and release. Fifth, Nintendo doesn’t need as much marketing by distribution subsidiaries like Nintendo of America. Consumers are aware of Nintendo and its products.
I think it makes sense for the feb direct to be the last switch focused direct. I think it’ll be filled with smaller titles and remasters. Then new hardware would be announced around July with a September release date. Whenever it is, my money will be ready.
We have 4 games lined up for the entire year, 3 of which are remasters/remakes, I’d say this is one of the times where we’ve needed a Direct the most since we have no clue what Nintendo’s 2024 and beyond looks like at the moment

@@jbsmm2112 there is a good chance that the new console is just backwards compatible, wii could play gamecube games, DS could play GBA and those are entirely different consoles; a direct sequel console would be a massive mistake, but it could still work with the joy-con and the new cartridge could have a plastic bit to it like the 3DS cartridges and be the same cartridge slot as the switch otherwise metroid doesn't do well when it is released early into a console's life cycle so there is no point in doing it. people even got a wii for things like wii sports and twilight princess, metroid prime 3 came shortly after and did not help those sales whatsoever and sold a lot worse than the first 2 primes on the gamecube

If switch 2 is 2024, not needed but would be nice
If switch 2 is 2025, definitely needed
Why release it 2025?
Because it’s still selling well, despite declines.
Very needed to get all rumors out of the way.
Orrrr they lie?
I think the Direct (should it happen, which I think it will) is going to give us a strong indication of what we have in store for 2024 in terms of whether Nintendo is going to try to ride OG Switch out for one more year and launch the Switch successor in 2025, or if they plan on launching it in 2024. In my opinion, 2024 should be the play and I do think it’s coming this year. However if this Direct brings us a bunch of bombshells for new games releasing this year that we previously did not know about, my opinion might change.
You overlook a number of good arguments why it isn’t needed.
First, not making an anticipated announcement is probably the best way to confirm speculation that this is the year of Switch 2 without making a material statement about the release which inherently affects the stock price
Second, there is enough clarity until April to move the direct to coincide with those earning reports - which is the big annual report of the entire fiscal year.
My mental healt says 200%
I think it makes sense for the feb direct to be the last switch focused direct. I think it’ll be filled with smaller titles and remasters.
Then new hardware would be announced around July with a September release date.
Whenever it is, my money will be ready.
We have 4 games lined up for the entire year, 3 of which are remasters/remakes, I’d say this is one of the times where we’ve needed a Direct the most since we have no clue what Nintendo’s 2024 and beyond looks like at the moment
Nice video!
Very needed!
All though I definitely want to here your take Rob but man after that dreaded State of Play I'm craving a Nintendo Direct.
There was a State Of Play? Didn't even hear about it.
Just feel that Feb is kinda early to reveal switch 2, if they gona release it by end of the year. It will affect their sales now.
This man really wants to play Metroid Prime 4 on a small cube for some reason, I don't know why.
let him be a fan dude, everyone wants to play it as long as it's amazing lol
@@jbsmm2112 i am saying, you don't know anything about a next console and metroid prime 4 should be only on switch
it won't look better anyways because it was designed for the switch first and foremost
@@MasterStacona yeah fair. I am annoyed by all the rumors of the new console, but I understand people are just excited. I think they MIGHT make it cross platform, but many people seem sure that it's gonna be, which it very well may not be. Misunderstood you a little bit, but yeah people just love theorizing lol 👍
@@jbsmm2112 there is a good chance that the new console is just backwards compatible, wii could play gamecube games, DS could play GBA and those are entirely different consoles; a direct sequel console would be a massive mistake, but it could still work with the joy-con and the new cartridge could have a plastic bit to it like the 3DS cartridges and be the same cartridge slot as the switch otherwise
metroid doesn't do well when it is released early into a console's life cycle so there is no point in doing it. people even got a wii for things like wii sports and twilight princess, metroid prime 3 came shortly after and did not help those sales whatsoever and sold a lot worse than the first 2 primes on the gamecube
Well, considering how many videos yall TH-camrs keep putting out. I say it’s needed. All yall videos are the same bs over and over. We just watch cuz we bored
Considering that I think a Switch successor will come out in 2025 then I think a February direct is necessary for 2024. We need to get a feel for what games are slated for later this year and I do think it’s possible we could see a Metroid Prime 4 reveal. Possibly in Feb Direct but more likely in June Direct 2024.
We need a direct for February I would like to see the Nintendo switch 2 come out
I doubt we'll see anything or hear anything on this switch 2 next month. I bet Nintendo will reveal this switch 2 in March or after March. Like April, May, June. I could see preorders for this switch 2 starting in July.
Very needed.
People are dying for news on the thousand year door remake
nate the hate does not expect the feb direct to be anything special...
Of course, so late into the console's life. Dude knows nothing, yet tries to talk big.
