We would shade to the left instead of the right because we have to include all possible numbers 12 is greater than.

Rlly late reply You look at the symbol of the inequality and follow the direction it points to. e.g. x < 7 The symbol points < direction So you shade on a direction pointing to the left (

Here's a demonstration for you: negative 2 is less than 5, right " -2 < 5 " Now divide both sides by negative 1, and see that "2 < -5" is not correct. You must flip the inequality sign: "2 > -5"

Ouch. Think of a solid dot as a point. A hollow dot would simply mark the location, but not a real point.
