This was so stupid by Jim Rome. The biggest problem, which Jim Rome apparently didn't even realize, is that his insult to Jim Everett was incredibly offensive to Chris Evert and all women.
A blessing for Rome's career. As the bigger man and only pro athlete in the room, Jim Everett reacted with precisely the amount of physicality. Had he done more he would've been painted as a bully. As it is he set Rome in his place, showed Rome to be the smaller man, and forced him to change his ways. Athletes practically line up today to get on his show.
Rome is such a liar. He said that when Everett got in his face and challenged him to say it for 3rd time, "in hind sight", that was his snap-reaction. So he is blaming Everett for it happening. And you can tell by Rome's arrogance when he said that it was regrettable that it happened without taking any responsibility. Then Rome said, I've called him that before off the show and I was not going to not call him that. So obviously Rome had every intention of calling Everett, Chris. Rome deserved what he got. He asked for it, and then when Everett reacted, he blamed him. Jim Rome is a jerk!

But on the other hand, Everett is also a giant with a lot of cash and he'd be sued over chin-checking a radio personality. Here's hoping Everett doesn't break his throwing hand in the process. None of that makes Rome right. But it is what it is.
And there was no “snap” by anybody anywhere. If Everett would have snapped he would have pummeled him. He told Rome not to do it again, Rome did, and he got in his face and showed him what he thought about it, and he did it all under control.
To say this ended with Everett 'looking bad' is complete nonsense. He refused to be disrespected but used the minimal amount of force necessary to put this punk in his place. Mad respect.

So Jim Everett... A) Goes out of his way and takes the time to come on the show, B) Tells Rome he doesn't like the name, C) Repeats that he doesn't like the name, D) Warns what he'll do if he gets called the name, E) Reiterates that he really wants to be helpful and put on a good show with Rome ...and Rome tries to play the "who saw this coming" victim? Jim Rome was an immature douche. Notice he later said "the situation was regrettable" and "better judgment could have been used"... That phrasing is important because it shows Rome taking no accountability for his actions. I also disagree with Stuart Scott; Jim Everett needed to take care of business. Well put and 100% right.
Jim Rome is the kid that never got popped growing up. He's a dude that just doesn't know. He's lucky Everett didn't whoop that ass
Rome wanted to get his ass kicked, thats why he kept provoking him. It would either help his show or he could just sue tf out of Everett
What are you talking about--this helped made Rome huge.
@@evanfinch4987 he’s talking about how he’s lucky Everett didn’t fuck him up. Nobody was going to listen to anybody who got their ass kicked on TV.
He LOOKS like a kid there. Crazy!
I'd say what happened is more embarrassing for Rome- to be pushed down and then stood over like that? By a guy that's probably roughly his own age? Ouch
Rome after the incident acts like he didn’t get tossed around like a rag doll by Jim 😂
So Jim Everett...
A) Goes out of his way and takes the time to come on the show,
B) Tells Rome he doesn't like the name,
C) Repeats that he doesn't like the name,
D) Warns what he'll do if he gets called the name,
E) Reiterates that he really wants to be helpful and put on a good show with Rome
...and Rome tries to play the "who saw this coming" victim? Everett was being totally fair. Rome asked for it.
1. We miss you Stuart Scott.
2. Jim Rome is a punk that NEVER apologized.
3. Jim Everett warned him and he did it anyway.
4. Suzy Kolber is awesome.
5. We miss you Stuart Scott.
Stuart had that voice that makes u feel at home !
when stuart scott passed, that was the begining of the end for espn.
It was bittersweet seeing Stuart Scott. He was an awesome person. RIP
Suzy Kober was really cute in this clip. Rome is a punk. R.I.P. Stuart Scott.
I agree about Jim Rome and he is way more badass than any Rightwinger in history. All the fake alphas on Adderall, testosterone and penis pills. Sorry, he’s very much like any Fox News character. What a douche.
Why Rome would try to pick a fight with one of the more nicer guys in football is beyond me. Everett is a true gentleman and a class act.
Because he's nice so he thought he could get away with it.
@@ButterBallTheOpossum well I'm glad how that worked out 😁👍
At least Everett knew it was not right to punch a girl
Haha
😂
😂😂😂😂
Boom!
Rome is a clown! Kudos to Everett
Jim Rome..a legend in his own mind
Rome's smug face is all you need to know. Tough guy with a studio full of employees to bail him out for running his mouth. Bet he would not have said it just one time if it was he and Everett alone in a bar.
No way in hell. He sees him in a bar he's exiting quickly.
Jemima Rome is a coward and a verbal gangster. Brave only when he’s on his turf (the studio).
No, because Rome probably goes to gay bars.
Rome smugness equates to TRUMPS TODAY
Absolutely - he knew he had his staff there. If it was just the two of them Rome be shitting his pants
Jim Rome was an immature douche. Notice he later said "the situation was regrettable" and "better judgment could have been used"... That phrasing is important because it shows Rome taking no accountability for his actions. I also disagree with Stuart Scott; Jim Everett needed to take care of business. At least demonstrate to other athletes why that show was one to avoid.
I watched this live. The look of sheer terror in little Jimmy Rome's eyes was incredible. I will never forget it. Jim Rome proved himself a punk that night.
