I think it’s getting more and more expensive because people are buying from these places and then reselling on places like Depop I read a article the other day about a girl who was only 13 and she was earning a weekly wage out of reselling clothes online
@@raeleenwhite9812 I can't see how it's moral or ethical to escalate prices because of what they assume someone may do with the item. Let's face it, the items are donated, they are tax exempt in most cases and their overheads greatly subsidised. We don't see any other store raise prices cause "someone may sell it" Just my findings and opinion anyway
By the way, in a note to the biddy at the lifeline, you've just alienated hundreds of potential customers. Well done. As if your prices weren't a huge problem...your attitude can now be added to the list of reasons not to go there. Don't mess with our Jo!
My son and his girlfriend just returned from a holiday in Austin Texas and they bought the most amazing vintage items including denim jeans, skirt t and t shirts in excellent condition all pretty much around $10-15 max. We are so deprived and ripped-off in Australia.
Hi Jo ❤❤loved the parade of Vintage loveliness in Miss Brown!!! You looked beautiful in the red and blue dress. I have never seen such high prices for Vintage or Vintage Designer in Canada 🇨🇦!! Insane prices. I’m so glad you enjoyed your experience in Miss Brown. It really was an incredible collection ❤❤thank you Jo
Affordable pieces can only be found in Church type op shops these days in Australia. Lifeline Vinnies etc, its second hand fast fashion garbage. Miss Brown is true Vintage where if you had the money you'd happily pay the extra money for a timeless quality piece.
What an amazing collection of beautiful blouses, super expensive but I think they are worth every penny. Regarding the ugly human nature, don’t let them upset you, those people are not worth it.❤❤❤
"People are so easily offended by what they don't understand" This is literally my life. Unfortunately people nowadays almost feel the need to get offended over anything, like they take pride of it😂😂
Those Vinnies prices are insane considering it’s all free stuff donated for free to be sold to people who don’t have the ability to pay full price for clothes. I’m so disappointed these days and I’ve been going to,regular stores and buying new clothes for less that I get thrifting. It’s actually flipped around and it’s cheaper to buy online and when there are sales and your clothes don’t stink or have rips in them. Oh some on the things I’ve seen while thriftiness. The disappointment when you hear the cash register say oh look up the brand we can get more for this and in font if the customers too. They don’t care. They know what they are now.
Miss Brown had a lot of nice things. I especially loved the vests, but $95 dollars. Ouch. I just purchased 2 dead stock vests from the 90's for about $30 a piece on ebay. One is lambswool and the other wool. Thank you for taking us on an eye candy tour.
I find it interesting that someone who owns a shop would get bothered or insulted. I would look at it differently if you think about it, you are actually promoting their shop and what they carry. Is free advertising🤷🏻♀️ thank you 🙏 always enjoy your videos🥰
I think you should ask first. Some people at lifeline , presume it’s a suicide phone line charity, might be extra sensitive about it being a safe space. Don’t be offended just ask. Hard work at opshops these days, there expected to be run like businesses and the people are volunteers.
Oh my thrifting is changing so much. Sometimes a store can go from one extreme to another in Melbourne. My locals are quite good. $3.50-$5 for a skirt/pants/top. Quality has dropped though into anko territory. So sorry that the lady was upset. Sometimes the older volunteers cannot see the modern ways??? The world has cha ged so much with youtubers, influencers, thriftes filming.
The last shop saved the day!!..that spot dress was fabulous..re the charity shop worker..pleeeease..don’t they realise you promote the shops..fee advertising..generally though expensive and low grade quality..like the UK shops too I’m afraid 😟
The charity sector is in such a state. If they actually cared about helping people out they would welcome the publicity.. It's all a sham now. Sorry you had to go through that.
I look forward to all your videos each Friday. From Australia and op shops are getting very expensive they want 15 dollars for k mart stuff. Vinnes make me so angry and the lady’s are so rude.
Oh my.....what is going on with the op shops these days. Don't they understand or watch TH-cam???? How much better for their store if they'd had been more supportive. You could of promoted them to your viewers.... instead we're all sitting here shaking our heads in disbelief at their treatment of you. I'm sorry you had to go through that. Sending you a hug 🤗
I love your thrift with me videos! Don't let those old meanies make you stop!
I'll do my best! Thank you! ❤️
I can't get over how expensive thrifting is over in Australia. There were some beautiful pieces in the last shop. Thanks for sharing!
I don't believe it myself! And as time goes on, it just gets worse! 🤷♀️

An enjoyable couple of days looking at some very beautiful vintage clothes, Jo! (I have learnt to disregard unpleasant people!)😸🇬🇧☔
Wise words, Wendy ❤🙏🥰
Loved this, ❤
Yay! ❤️
There's that awesome waterfall song! Love it. Such a vibe! Just like you my love.
By the way, in a note to the biddy at the lifeline, you've just alienated hundreds of potential customers. Well done. As if your prices weren't a huge problem...your attitude can now be added to the list of reasons not to go there.
Don't mess with our Jo!
I'm sooo lucky to have you guys! 🫶🫶🫶

My son and his girlfriend just returned from a holiday in Austin Texas and they bought the most amazing vintage items including denim jeans, skirt t and t shirts in excellent condition all pretty much around $10-15 max. We are so deprived and ripped-off in Australia.
Deprived and ripped off is spot on! Love it! 🤣👏❤️

I agree with you 💯

True that! There's days when I can brush it off, and others when it get to me ❤️
Jo you should come to Melbourne, I can take you to all the good ones.
Ha! I'd love that! ❤️
"People are so easily offended by what they don't understand"
This is literally my life.
Unfortunately people nowadays almost feel the need to get offended over anything, like they take pride of it😂😂
LOVE IT! 🤣😂🤣

Great finds, Lillian ❤️
Can’t wait for the vlog! Spent 6 months in Ballina in 1989/90 and did day trips to Byron. Bet it’s changed❤
It has and it hasn't. It's more commercialised, that's for sure. And expensive. But still beautiful 🌴
Wonder who decides the prices and if their aim is to get rid of stock or just make a profit? 😅 the volunteers don’t get paid so why the high prices? 😪
🤷♀️🤷♀️🤷♀️
💞🧚♀️💫
Thanks 😂
Awwww.... 💕...miss Byron! ⛱️
It's something to be missed, for sure 🌴
@THEJODEDESAESTHETIC 💕
I didn't know thrifting existed in Byron bay considering everything else is pretty expensive 😊
Everything in Byron is expensive - including the op shops! 🤷♀️
❤❤❤❤
❤️🙏🥰
I find it interesting that someone who owns a shop would get bothered or insulted. I would look at it differently if you think about it, you are actually promoting their shop and what they carry.
Is free advertising🤷🏻♀️ thank you 🙏 always enjoy your videos🥰
Some people just lack respect and common sense, I guess...❤️
The prices are so high, it is terrible, I can't afford retail either.
It's a disgrace 🤷♀️
I think you should ask first. Some people at lifeline , presume it’s a suicide phone line charity, might be extra sensitive about it being a safe space. Don’t be offended just ask. Hard work at opshops these days, there expected to be run like businesses and the people are volunteers.
I never thought of it in that way... thank you.

Very true, Sasha ❤️
Sadly people don’t know their rights as you said. A public place is just that PUBLIC. She needs a refresher course in customer service…
😅😅😂
Love it! 😂❤️
I’m with you, Jo! I don’t understand that woman’s attitude. How affectatious!
Thanks for the solidarity, doll ❤️
That Vinnies is a ridiculously expensive Op Shop 😮
Great minds, Julie 🥰🥰
The prices were nuts! Thrifting is starting not to be fun anymore. 😢
Absofrickinlutely!!! 🤷♀️
the prices are ridiculous.i will never will pay that for second hand
Me too, Andrea. I refuse! 🤷♀️
The last shop saved the day!!..that spot dress was fabulous..re the charity shop worker..pleeeease..don’t they realise you promote the shops..fee advertising..generally though expensive and low grade quality..like the UK shops too I’m afraid 😟
Unfortunately, they don't seem to see it that way 🙏
That Spot dress though.....😍
The charity sector is in such a state. If they actually cared about helping people out they would welcome the publicity.. It's all a sham now. Sorry you had to go through that.
Well said! 👏 Thank you, Sarah ❤️
What a shame about the floral dress as the colours looked beautiful on you! Hopefully you strike gold at another shop xx
I bought a grand total of zero items - including retail! 🤷♀️
I look forward to all your videos each Friday. From Australia and op shops are getting very expensive they want 15 dollars for k mart stuff. Vinnes make me so angry and the lady’s are so rude.
Aww, thank you Debbie ❤️ And I hear you....!
Lifeline could have used your filming to their advantage. I've been there before- shame the lady was rude.
Thank you, lovely ❤️
Oh my.....what is going on with the op shops these days. Don't they understand or watch TH-cam???? How much better for their store if they'd had been more supportive. Really needed that hug, Wendy. Even more than you know - as you will see in the vlog next week 🤗🥰❤️
And it gives them exposure… potential customers 😢

Didn’t like the background music, prefer to hear you chatting 💕
Unfortunately, the music is blaring in the stores and I would get copyrighted. I love talking you guys through my process as well ❤️
You only ever film clothing up last or yourself. I don’t think it’s worthy of permission.
Glad you agree, Jac ❤️
