    This has got to be my favorite scene in any C-drama show. It's just two friends dancing and having a good time. The friendship between Ling and Mingyu was beautiful.

    One of the best series I’ve ever seen. If this didn’t win awards of the highest, nothing else should. Beautiful costumes, scenery, addicting story line…and great acting and filmography.

    One of the scene that I repeatedly watched again and again.. this scene and the scene before this, when Yongqi pleaded Empress Dowager to save his mother. They were heartwrenchingly beautiful!

    I have never liked historical dramas like this because i thought the guys looked weird with this hair style. I never gave it a chance. Till i ran into this clip. I found it cute and interested i heard so many good reviews and decide to give it a try. Oh i am in love ❤❤ with this drama the story is very unique i have never seen a FL lead like her. I love the fact that she decided to go another way to approach the emperor and i love the way she has been herself from begging to end. Also love the way she lets others think that their plans are working and then BAMM!! she attacks lol. She got rid of every evil person one by one. Like others i would of love for to end up with Fuchang and it broke my heart into pieces when he died espiacily when he said "im tired in the next life will you protect me?" And he showed up smiling. The emperor i did hate him in the beginning espicialy when the empress was crying asking him to let her go. And then trying to break the marriage of YL and FH But i then understood why he did it. In all the actors ware fantastic they portrayed every characters ver good. It made me laugh and cry. In conclusion thank you to the writers for this wonderful story 100% recommended. 😘😘😘😘😍😍😍😍❤❤❤

    Waltz dance wasn't popular until after the French revolution, certainly wasn't accepted among nobility during the 18th century, and such movement in this scene was practised even much later during late 19th century. A dance tutor from France would have teached baroque dances such as L'Allemande

    She cut her nails? The nails that represent noble ladies that do not have to lift a finger on chores.

    • @user-ix1rp9ff3p
      @user-ix1rp9ff3p 3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      for Confucians it's basically an outrage (the body is one's parents' gifts, hence "harming" it is being rude to your parents), but as far as Manchus are concerned there's no recriminations for nail cuts
      also no one practically adheres to the old practice of long fingernails, even in traditional dramas (except "Ruyi", but even there not everyone wore their fingernails long enough)

    • @naaadyac
      @naaadyac 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@user-ix1rp9ff3p more accurately speaking, manchurians DO have the practice of growing their nails to display nobility and royalty (usually only the ring and pinky finger), which is why they wear those nail protectors to protect their nails (yes, they do not only serve for aesthetics). Most likely, the producers just did not pay particular attention in designing those fake nail extensions. Conversly, you can find them portrayed in other qing dynasty dramas, such as in "Ruyi's Royal Love 如懿传“. In addition, Manchurians also forbid hair cutting because the action implies the "fall of the empire" and "death of the emperor" (this is explained towards the end of the drama).

      1. it's only during the Ming & Qing Dynasties that nail guards became fashionable; I doubt the Manchus had the same fingernail customs as the Han Chinese, due to their nomadic origins (aka impractical), until after they conquered China and saw adopting traditional Chinese culture to assuage the pro-Ming ethnic Han scholar bureaucrats
      (the only thing the Manchus didn't adopt was foot-binding, which was extended to everyone by Dowager Empress Cixi)
      2. it was the Confucians, not the Manchus, who disallowed cutting one's hair (even fingernails for that matter) as "un-filial" ("The body is your parents' gift, harming it is being unfilial to them"). The Manchus just added it in because of their wedding customs.

      I just assumed she had not grown her nails yet, because she had not earned the rank for long nails but recently. All the other ladies have nail sheaths on their ring and little fingers, and so does Yinglou later.

      -nobody in "Yanxi" actually had fingernails long enough AKA all for show, just imagine they had long nails
      -nails in "Ruyi" are kinda Cixi-ish long (contrary to extant portraits prior to Xianfeng Era where nails aren't that long)
      -"Zhen Huan" is the most accurate with nails so far: long enough but not freakishly long
