Recent subscriber here, it hasn't even started but I am delighted that you decided to watch this. To me it was my entry point into the Lucy Thomas world about 2 years ago, which would have been about a year after she recorded it. I think she turns 20 like this week or something.
I'm 60 years old and a musician my whole life so of course I knew the Leonard Cohen original and some of the notable covers along the way which there have been many. KD Lang in fact sing it at the Olympics one year. But that to me just makes it all the more remarkable that when she recorded this at the age of 16, she blew it out of the ballpark, and it has begrudgingly and now enthusiastically become my favorite version.

I remember when this came out , i told someone in the comment section when it hit 1,000 views , it going to just keep doubling from now on , there wont be an end to how high the views go . So far i been right , for once in my life .. This is the performance that caused so many people to find Lucy , and her subscribers just keep climbing everyday . She will hit One Million subscribers this year , and i couldn't be more happier for her , she has worked hard to bring us her best , and she deserves the blessings , from the seeds she has sown .

This song makes my allergies act up every time. I'm not joking. And I've seen it probably 60 times at least. Over the last 2 years. And it's always fun to see someone get blown away by it for the first time.
It seems like you're close to my age, perhaps a bit older considering that wonderful concert poster you have on your wall behind you in the middle and even though I was into Led Zeppelin and Lynyrd Skynyrd and so forth when I was a kid in the 70s, I do remember actually liking the Eric Carmen hit, All By Myself.
Apparently a very famous pop singer had a huge hit with it later in time, and because I checked out of that scene in favor of other music a very long time ago, I don't know if it was Celine Dion or who but at any rate these are big shoes to fill. And she freaking kills it.
She does excellent performances the best version of Hallelujah perfectly beautiful.

Elvis died in 1977, seven years before Leonard Cohen wrote and recorded it. Thanks for reacting to Lucy, and also to her and younger sister Martha who also has a very beautiful voice!

I do not know your name so I will call you Dad of Agnes, I am Barbara, well Hallelujah was written and sung by Leonard Cohen it is a Hebrew song from the Jewish religion, not to mixed up by Glory Glory Hallelujah sung by Elvis back in the good old days. Lucy was just 16 years of age when she covered this, this remarkable cover by her has over 42 million views, and it has put Lucy on the map. Take care Barbara.

This is Lucys most reacted to song, and I think every reactor out there has reacted to it, as it comes up all the time, and I have heard it over a hundred times. She crushes it and it has not been done better as far as I am concerned, and that for a 16 year old girl. Lucy is absolutely super talented. Just incredible beyond words. Possibly the best young vocalist on the planet today. It is almost hard to believe that at her age here she was able to hit this very challenging song out of the park. Amazing!

The song was written and composed by Canadian poet and singer-songwriter Leonard Cohen. There are many covers by various artists but for my taste, Lucy's rendition is at the pinnacle perhaps only surpassed by Leonard Cohen who, although not as controlled or musically accurate as Lucy, has the advantage of the writers original interpretation of both music and lyrics.

Hallelujah is an epic Leonard Cohen song that has usually been performed in a very low register. Lucy's version is takes it up into a higher register and is absolutely beautiful.
To be honest I hated this song until I heard Lucy sing this. Now I like it. 🙂 However about 45 million others love it. 😍
It was written by Leonard Cohen, and literally translates to Praise God from Hebrew.
In the Hebrew Bible, it is a compound word, from hallelu, meaning “to praise joyously,” and yah, a shortened form of the unspoken name of God.
Like others, it was my introduction to Lucy.

This is a cover of the Josh Groban version of the song.I heard Lucy about 2 years and was blown away. The best voice since I heard Linda Rondstadt in 1967 and Linda has been my goto standard ever since for other singers for more than 50 years Now it's Lucy and Linda.

An absolutely wonderful cover - I think I prefer it to KD Lang's version, and saying so might cost me my Canadian citizenship. You should check out Cohen's version from his London concert though, which is much more personal, especially the unedited performance.
The original author of this song is Lenard Cohen…Biblically themed, but not really a gospel song in its original form.
