Overall more than 350 people cаme for the 90th birthday of this beautiful line to travel the whole 125 km route. At all we must be thankfull to a young boy, who is the main causer for this special event. Almost on the every station there were an organized events with traditional bulgarian songs and dances.

The White Pass & Yukon is one meter gage, (1,000mm). This is really narrow. Does Bulgaria have other gages?

There is also a small railway line on 600 mm for the salt mines near Burgas. But that's all. All of the other railway lines are on a standard gauge (1,435 mm). Of course in Sofia most of the trams are on a 1,000 mm (actually 1,009 mm).

Chris York The leading locomotive 77 009 is assembled in the romanian locomotive works FAUR, Bucharest in 1988. The second locomotive is assembled in Henschel locomotive works, Germany in 1965.

track must be well maintained since I see very little rocking as they go down the line at good speed.

It's not so well maintained. But the main problems there are not the quality of the rail track maintenance itself, but the many unsecured places on the route, where often are falling rocks on the rails and due to that there are some restrictions of the speed. Recently we had an accident where a big mass of rocks and dirt fall on the line just on the tunnel exit near Sveta Petka halt. Due to the low speed in this section (30 km/h) the train almost manage to stop before the fallen rocks and there wasn't any serious damages on the locomotive.

Narrow gauges the best and most environment friendly!

During the summer 2014 the trains on the line were stopped due to a bridge reconstruction near Varvara station.
