You are absolutely right, I covered this route in 2019, from Delhi to Himachal border covered in around 5-6 hrs but rest 230 kms I covered in around 7-8 hrs, was thinking by now roads must be ready but thanks to you, now I know still the route is in bad shape..

Road between Mandi to Kullu is very bad. Alternative is from IIT Mandi route. Road is small but if you are a good driver the experience will be good. Also from Swarghat there is an alternate route to rupnagar. Anyway from Delhi… Manali is a 15 hour drive. Best to start at 12 am. That way you will enter hills early morning which is beautiful and u will reach Manali before evening.

Shun own car take Hp num taxi or private vehicle from Chandigarh .. little better because you don't need to rehire local vehicle for for gulab paas or atal tunnel crossing ,there is big vehicle parking at both side. Taxi driver can take care of own . Your njoy snow 😀

Yehi road sahi hai...nehi toh pandoh avoid karke mandi se dusra route bahut patla hai. Aur koi blockage rehega us route pe toh geye. Main bhi geya tha swift 2016 petrol leke Gurgaon se. Gurgaon mein rehne ka ek hi maza hai...kahi bhi roads kharab ho kitna bhi, Gurgaon ke roads se achhe hi laagte hai. Main Dwarka expressway ke nazdik rehne wala hoon, hero honda Chawk se right wale area pe. Yeh tuta futa roads sundarnagar to mandi aur pandoh se aut ke bad 10 km taq baccho ka khel laga tha. I felt at home 😂

It is always wiser to check route related videos on TH-cam before you start any journey. The road between Mandi-Bajaura is under construction for long and has been avoided by many drivers. The best alternative route is Mandi-Kamand-Kataula-Bajaura. This route has no constructions, more scenic and less traffic. Although the route is a bit narrower at a few stretches but skilled drivers do not need to worry. You can check my vlog Delhi-Manali Best route Part 2 for details.
Best route for manali but you have to paid toll tax . Sarai kale Khan bus Stand Delhi via meerut Expressway via NH58 Muzaffarnagar sahRanpur yamunanagar-ambala-panchlula-baddi nalagarh-mandi than manali . Within 11 hours complete highway and last cng pump is available in baddi

Average speed in the mountains is around 30 kmph... Sometimes google Maps show wrong estimates
