Dark souls and its philosophy you described of “the next one could be it” helped me be optimistic when applying for jobs and got a job/program lined up later this year that’s my dream job. Thank you fromsoftware
Found your channel last night, I went through a similar situation that led to me creating my own channel, it's incredible how sometimes one small decision can make such a big impact and change your life for the better. Super glad to have subscribed can't wait to see what you do next :)
I love these more serious videos. Even though youtube isn't my dream, I still connect alot with what you are talking about and it seriously gives me inspiration for my own life. Thank you :D
First thing I gotta say is the editing is fire the transitions between the different games might go unnoticed but I SEENT it and I appreciate your finesse. You sound like a great person who deserves the position that you are in. I'm really happy that you were able to land your dream job and stopped working at the one that made you miserable. And while I agree with your perspective on misinformed optimism/informed pessimism I think there are also people who are afraid of change and that in itself discourages challenge. No matter how old you are there is always something to learn and you just never know when you've plateau'd emotionally, mentally etc. I try not to think about things in absolutes because I just don't know what the future has in store, but as you said, understanding that patience can only reward you when you have taken the steps to facilitate your best outcomes is key. Then you just let time do its thing. Anytime I feel down in the dumps that I'm not seeing the results of my work, I remember that I have more today than I did yesterday. Me five years ago never thought that he would make it here. Every time I felt like there was a challenge insurmountable I eventually got over it only to be met with a new seemingly impossible challenge. Every new thing is going to feel the hardest thing you've ever done but so was every other problem you already overcame, and isn't this the essence of what makes Souls games appealing at their core? Rising to every new seemingly impossible challenge?
Aaron!!! Thank you man, I’m so happy you noticed the transitions as well ;) I agree with your points completely and I think we all need to be constantly trying to improve and learn. Thank you for the kind words man
Elden Ring is about teaching patience. And also, teaching about ambition! Defeating Radagon and looking back all the progress you've made is awesome! and the best part is you can replicate it in real life. Just trust yourself and aim to the sky! Started playing Elden Ring in 2023 March after having it in my steam lib for about a month and not being able to know how to play. Now that I went through my first playthrough I must say that playing Elden Ring was like having a mirror in front of my face. Every fight and every step the game was reminding how my anxiousness and wanting things fast were playing against me. I realized that self control to make a timed move is not just better but crucial to success. Methodic and calculated approach is absolutely necessary to succeed. Looking in this mirror showed that going blindly into something and spamming buttons is not the way to look cool and quickly getting what you want, but instead, it's a way to get yourself in trouble even with the weakest foe. And ultimately, of course, the power of persistence and bettering myself. The feeling of beating an enemy that used to kill you in 1 sec by straight up just learning from your mistakes and and getting better is definitely a powerful lesson. I learned so much about myself playing this game that it is just insane. Although I spent too many hours I am really pleased I got to play this game.
The ishin qoute helped me alot in school work and school activities and even my social life If i ever felt anxiety i tell myself that "hesitation is defeat"sometimes i forgot about it and my best friend who plays souls games would remind it to me when I have a problem related to the fear of the unknown and looking back at it It worked quite well

I was thinking of asking for Elden ring for my b day I 4 days and this video made me just so excited I wish I could just sleep for 3 days straight till its my birthday
I’m not sure what caused this video to pop up on my feed. But I’ve tried streaming and TH-cam every now and then, and never persisted. I’ve recently started again, and streamed some of my first Dark Souls playthrough. I only had one person talk to me that entire time, but the next day all I wanted to do was wake up and stream. Fast forward another week and I haven’t streamed since. Video games are the only passion in my life, but I don’t have a passion for sharing I guess. I’m struggling finding what my true passion is, and what I can do for the rest of my life. After watching this video though, you’ve inspired me to keep going. And I never connected the dots between my persistence in the souls game to real life, but you made it all make sense to me. I’m going to try recording more gameplay and doing something with it for real. Thanks man. This video might have just changed my life.. ❤
Gonna make a video titled "Ember's video, "Elden Ring Changed Me Forever." Changed Me Forever. Jokes aside, I really admire your passion about the souls series. The way you implement your life into video games is not something many people can do, as they just see is as a video game. To you and me, I think we can both agree that the souls games are much much more than just a video game! I love watching your passion please keep up the good work!!!
I started with Bloodborne back in 2019 at an already dark time in my life, and after much early rage, and learning how to git gud, and all that nomsense you heard thousand of other reddits explain, beat it, then started playing the main 3 Souls games, on a daily basis, something i hadn’t done in video games for a long, long time. And after Elden Ring came out, i can safely say that 2022 was the best year i had in a long time, thank you Miyazaki for helping me get through such a treacherous and depressingly unfortunate point in my life
It's alwayys inspiring to see someone achieving success on youtube, including me there is so many bodies amongst the foundations that tried for years to make TH-cam Work but simple can't, stories like yours always gives me hope, best of luck on the journey ahead.

This saga is always swimming in the same waters: the soul, the Identity, reincarnation, existence, gods, moral dilemmas ... Our souls resonate with this, therefore we feel at home when we find the bonfire. Great video, thank you very much ☺️
Well done, Ember! I played all souls games backwards from Elden Ring to Demon Souls, but you made everything very relatable. And I didn’t realize it but playing these games did help me handle my job better. Some peace of mind from the daily grind. Elden Ring was my first souls game. On release day, I told my brother-in-law “not the game for me” but that night I couldn’t sleep. So I played it again the next day. And failed over and over and slowly fell in love with it. Now I’m playing Mortal Shell after I platinumed all the Souls game. I agree. They change lives. Looking forward to your next video!
10:40 You have no idea how much I needed to hear this. All I’ve been hearing from people is that I need to achieve something “this way” or “that way” or that it’s “oversaturated.” It’s reassuring to hear something like this when everyone else wants to put you down and only sees your dream as a fucking hobby.
I've always felt that the souls games contain a lot of life lessions, and teach things like patience and persistence, confronting your fears, building self belief against difficult odds, etc. I'd really love to see more content that discusses these kinds of themes. Good luck with your channel :)
I’m glad I can share an interest in this community. Thank you Ember for making my days with these videos. First stuff I watch when I get home from work.
I think the best thing these games do personally is that they are a practice in delayed gratification. You don't get to have op weapons or characters right off the start. You have to earn everything. I think games like that are what are truly special. Most games have a hard time being fun because they give you the strong items really earn or through difficulty sliders and settings. In this franchise, you must earn it. Whether that's boss patterns, runbacks, game mechanics, or weapon upgrades, they aren't easy to find. And every game wants you to win.
I totally agree. The devs are NOT on your side, but at the same time, they are because they want to see u succeed. They just want u to get there on your own. It's like a parent lol
I really admire you for the determination and patience you have in life after these games, I don't know how you can do it but I'm sure for lots of people you are a beautiful inspiration; I hope that all in life continues the best it can❤

But now I'm digging into this project I've been wanting to do for years, I'm seeing a bit of progress, and I'm having a blast. This video really just reinforced my motivation to work my ass off the right way. Keep up the good work brother!
I honestly feel the same way, around when Elden Ring came out I decided to finally give souls games a try with Dark Souls 1, and while it’s not one of my favorites in the series anymore due to just issues with its age and playing games like Bloodborne, beating Dark Souls 1 was one of the greatest gaming experiences of my life, all I could think was “holy shit, I just beat DARK SOULS, this game that’s known for its difficulty, I BEAT IT” and I was so happy with myself. Ornstein and Smough specifically had such a huge impact on me and my self confidence, and they are probably my favorite moment in any game ever besides maybe Ludwig from Bloodborne (for different reasons because Ludwig is just objectively cool and is my pick for just the most fun boss to go back to in the series). Now, I’ve played and beaten 3 souls games with DS1, Bloodborne, and Elden Ring, Bloodborne is now what I consider my favorite game of all time, and I will continue to play and love these games for multiple reasons. Thank you fromsoft for creating so many fond and great memories for so many of us :)

Absolutely! Great pep talk, especially for younger folks who haven’t tressed that path yet. Also a good pep talk for us older folks who’ve basically given in to the doldrum of office life. Keep believing and succeeding!
I subbed bc I liked this video so much. I am 42, I don't play many video games, and I generally don't spend a lot of time or money on them. Haven't played a game to completion in at least 10 years. I'm a casual gamer at best, and I've never played a Souls game before Elden Ring. After trying to play Skyrim, but getting bored, I took some random advice and tried Elden Ring. At first, I almost asked for a refund. I thought it was too hard, and I hated it. Something about the game, though, it kept me coming back. Before I knew it, I had put 40 hours into this game I didn't like. I learned a lot about the combat system, and I just focused on exploring and having fun. Elden Ring is now my favorite game, and I can't stop playing it at least a few hours a night. It's genuinely a masterpiece. It reminds me of playing Legend of Zelda or Castlevania for NES as a kid. Brutal and unforgiving, yet beautiful and immersive. Best game ever.
The way you applied dark souls mechanics to real life might just be nerdy enough to kick my ass into gear with my own interests. Seriously though. Hearing you talk about this actually made me record something for the first time in years because that analogy worked so well for me. Thank you for that!
When I was a kid I used to no-life in WoW vanila, high end raiding and all. I still believe up and until today that that simple game taught me all the valuable lessons I would later on apply in real life. Lessons allot of my real life friends and family seemed oblivious to and would prove to struggle with later on in life where I just instinctively 'got it'. Games can be great a vehicle to practice your mind and alter its ingrained state.
I'm glad to see the series has had such a positive effect on you even after the first one. I hope it keeps getting better! I'll do what I can to improve myself as well.
Please don't stop, don't go back to a normal job, keep making vídeos and keep doing what you love, I miss my chance to do what I love, now I'm struggling to make it but I won't give up. Please keep going dude!
I personally don't like the exploring factor of the souls games but I loved everything else. I just didn't like the whole look everywhere and everything to see if there is an invisible wall, bridge or drop, to either find a new area or something that I will never use. And so I use the internet for all of the secrets and then turn around to try to learn how to parry. But this makes the games more replayable for me because instead of looking for the surprises the game offers, I look to just either doing a hard niche build that is really rewarding, or doing a simple build and going through what I struggled with the first time and dominating. I wasn't afraid of ruining the surprise of discovering something if it feels like so much I wouldn't find out making me either miss out on parts of the game or exploring not for fun but for fear of missing out.
Finishing Elden Ring is both happy and sad for me, happy because I had this opportunity to experience this amazing game which made me change my gaming style and explore the lore. Sad because, there will no more "first time" experience again like the first time when I played the game.
I randomly found your channel a few months ago and loved your videos. Then after you released videos like this it was cool to see how relatable it is to my life. I actually really needed this video so thanks a lot!

These vids are golden. This one in particular makes me wanna start content creation at some point, though idk when i'd get to that. But even more important, it's given me a different perspective on the souls series, as well as life in general. Thank you for these videos, you've lifted the spirits of many people.
Elden Ring was the first souls game I really played. I played DS3 but I didn't enjoy the experience, just played it to please my friends. The take away I learned from elden ring is to enjoy the journey more than the destination. I ran through most areas and explored almost nothing in the game because I wanted the next boss fight and planned to explore in my second run. Unsurprisingly my second play through I explored even less because I just wanted more boss fights again. I wish I could replay elden ring for the first time again so I can tell myself to explore every nook and cranny, but the moment has passed and now I can only get fragments of the feeling of exploring something for the first time. I plan to play DS1 so I can explore secrets, but I have seen so much content on the game it won't be the same sadly.
Despite a lot of people complain about ER, it accomplished to make great things a huuge environment storytelling that I had never seen in my life. And Its incredible that all bosses, main, mini bosses, repeated bosses, dual bosses and so on had a reason to be there, its like a archeology work sometimes, when you should deduce whats happening depending in what you see instead of what the game tells you, like others game in the franchise.
ive been a souls fan for a long time but now as lockdown is over and i am invested in real life i just dont know what to do so i just sit and play games and study not having any plans for future

I love these more serious videos. Even though youtube isn't my dream, I still connect alot with what you are talking about and it seriously gives me inspiration for my own life. Thank you :D
Thank YOU!!!
Intelligence with no ambition is like a bird with no wings - Salvador Dali
Agreed!!!!
Elden Ring isnt your typical awful 2014-2021 next generation game. As well as your average boring interactive mainstream ps4 walking/cutscene simulator movie-exclusive. Its a game the industry has needed for awhile now and came crashing through destroying absolutely everything. Back during release when I was about 20 hours in, I thought to myself "yup this is fucking it man." Best game of the decade alongside RDR2. It reminded me of old Xbox 360 games due to its quality and simplicity. No game like ER took me back like that. N I regret wasting my money throughout the years on games that flopped because of these next generation developers taking over and sabotaging our beloved AAA franchises. Too many broken promises throughout. ER showed the industry how a good game is made and I had waited forever for that moment to come. From Software forever!! Also am a huge GRRM fan.
The ishin qoute helped me alot in school work and school activities and even my social life
If i ever felt anxiety i tell myself that "hesitation is defeat"sometimes i forgot about it and my best friend who plays souls games would remind it to me when I have a problem related to the fear of the unknown and looking back at it
It worked quite well
Good job! Be proud, everything here you built up yourself.

I started my channel back in 2018 and haven't seen the kibds of returns you have. Believe me, you're doing something right.
Thank you ⚔️ I did a lot of studying on growing a TH-cam channel
Okay you got me this time at the ending🤣🤣🤣

you have single handedly become my favorite youtube channel and i always love seeing a new video from your channel pop up. keep putting in the work because everyone loves your content.
Thank u so much that seriously means a ton :)
Love your content Ember. I have that fear of "jumping off" so to speak to start making videos.
Thanks :) and try it out!! U never know what could happen 👀
Lmao. Thank u so much tho, im really happy to hear that u understand where im coming from, that's been my mission w this channel recently
And after Elden Ring came out, i can safely say that 2022 was the best year i had in a long time, thank you Miyazaki for helping me get through such a treacherous and depressingly unfortunate point in my life
Just started watching your channel and i really love your content keep up the amazing work

@@bogadestroyer738 it's your opinion, my dear. And like having an ass, everyone's got an opinion. Good luck bro.
Yessss love that. Thank u for watching!! Mortal Shell is awesome too man enjoy!

@@EmberPlays im just teasing man, at least you didn't use moonveil

I’ve been playing through demons souls right now on the ps5, it’s awesome to see the beginning of what led to an entirely new genre.
It is awesome to see, love DeS
I just turned 50 years old ......... I played all the souls games and never beat any of them. I used to play Atari with my brother many many moons ago. I just started Elden ring on pc a couple months ago... I always thought video games were teaching me, something...
Love your videos man, keep up the great work
thanks for watching man :)

One of your best videos yet! Much love from Texas

Games can be great a vehicle to practice your mind and alter its ingrained state.
games ruined my life but i feel like without them i wudve been miserable, short asian ugly the usual.
I'm glad to see the series has had such a positive effect on you even after the first one. I hope it keeps getting better! I'll do what I can to improve myself as well.
We’re in this together!!
I admire your work ethics and the way you conduct yourself. Hey, maybe you should cover Stranger of Paradise, you might like it.
Thank you :) I haven’t played a ton of that but it’s definitely on my list
@@EmberPlays It's definitely better than people think. There's also the final DLC coming in 7 days.
Finishing Elden Ring is both happy and sad for me, happy because I had this opportunity to experience this amazing game which made me change my gaming style and explore the lore. Sad because, there will no more "first time" experience again like the first time when I played the game.

These vids are golden. This one in particular makes me wanna start content creation at some point, though idk when i'd get to that. But even more important, it's given me a different perspective on the souls series, as well as life in general. Thank you for these videos, you've lifted the spirits of many people.
Thank you so much 😭 glad I could help. I wish you luck!!!
