You guys have given the whole community so much of your time logging both the in-universe lore and the lore of the franchise. I still don't trust Bungie for a big variety of reasons. The suits at the top may have nearly killed the game by restricting the devs, but I have my own issues with the people underneath them.
      The writing team essentially ignoring their own recently established lore just so someone can write their own ventfiction into the game, to coming up with absolute garbage reasons as to why we didn't get a new enemy faction when the pyramids invaded ("We wanted to subvert expectations, lol"), to lying about the lore-invested community by saying everyone took Unveiling literally - when the book was so incredibly clear there was no way it was a literal description of events and more of a translation of cosmic pre-time into a more easily understood metaphor for readers to comprehend - and then called all of us essentially idiots for being invested in Unveiling so much when it was THE lore drop of their first solo expansion into exploring the Darkness, and more.
      The sales team for absolutely draining all of the cool resources the art and modeling teams make to stuff into Eververse. And then increasing the prices of seasons to just the right level to jump from $10 USD to $15 USD, selling $15-$20 armor sets, and more scummy pricing and sale practices, like selling campaign skips for Lightfall lmao.
      The community management team, for poorly communicating what's going on with Bungie and Destiny to the community for years while also catering to the more unhinged, disturbed players who are terminally online - and that turned out badly when corporate kept making the game worse and worse and those unhinged people got insanely nasty to the community team, forcing them to quit or withdraw from the online discourse even harder.
      Also I don't trust the advertising and marketing teams either, as they hyped the crap out of every single DLC since Shadowkeep, each one being a letdown besides Witch Queen, and then they hyped up Lightfall to be like some Infinity War nonsense - and then this whole year of Lightfall has been 90% filler and reskins and key-jangling.
      That's not all, but it's a good view of issues in the company that didn't stem from just upper management. It's clear to me that this Bungie isn't the Bungie that even made the OG Destiny, and more of a collection of parasitic departments clinging to talented gameplay designers, modelers, animators, and core game developers. I'm not going to be won back by Bungie adding a quick and dirty game mode we've begged for for years that rewards shiny old guns given perk refreshes that invalidate chasing anything similar in-slot, or the unsunsetting of what remains of our old gear, or finally adding a mostly new faction of enemies (in the original Final Shape trailer they mentioned the Subjugator is "THE new enemy _unit_ you'll be facing" which heavily implies the Dread as a whole didn't exist then). These are things the core devs cooked up, while the rest of the company still hasn't made up for their anti-player behavior, and it's been going on for years. I'm back for Final Shape, but beyond that is a most likely not for me. They've shown me how you don't make and run a game and company properly.

    • @jet6283
      @jet6283 10 วันที่ผ่านมา +3

      @@trashjash that part about unveiling just shows how little you really understand about the lore, the "sales" team doesnt exist, its just the COO CEO and the CFO which is behind the sales which further invalidates your "its not the upper management" point. most of OG bungie still is there since halo believe it or not (halo wasnt even owned by bungie they were commissioned by microsoft to make it) the new game director is with bungie since they were macintosh exclusive delevopers with marathon 2 so i would say that also is not true. if you really want absolute proof that upper management screws destiny just log in the game and play for a while, youll realise the gameplay is fluid and fun and that's what gaming boils down to in the end. all the things you just said scream corporate chief executives milking the most money possible out of something good.

    • @Elemental_Clash
      @Elemental_Clash 10 วันที่ผ่านมา +5

      @@trashjash Most of this is absolutely because of management or is a non-issue. The Sales team puts everything into Eververse and increases prices because upper management makes them and the community management team is essentially just the company mouthpiece and can't say much that hasn't been "approved" by upper management.
      The advertising and marketing teams are just doing their jobs of... advertising and marketing the products. You're essentially angry that they successfully did their job which is a non-issue.
      The only thing here that probably isn't a management issue or a non-issue is the writing team and I don't know enough about that to really comment on it.
      Also as a side note, they've explicitly said that the Dread were added because the delay gave them time. It's not just heavily implied that the Dread didn't exist at the time; it's confirmed.

    • @trashjash
      @trashjash 10 วันที่ผ่านมา +17

      @@Kyubii01 Same. Everyone seems to have forgotten how downright awful this past year was, and also several seasons from last year, not to mention the blunders of Beyond Light and Shadowkeep, all because we got a quick and dirty activity we've begged Bungie for years for and it's dropping shiny refreshed fan-favorite guns that have perk combos potent enough to never need to chase anything similar in-slot ever again. Witch Queen was a lucky hit by Bungie if you look at their track record after Forsaken, but having the disastrous filler stuffed with reskins that Lightfall really is immediately after seemingly almost shocked some sense into the players, and that scared Bungie into giving us the most basic of free activity to keep people invested until the Final Shape drops. And we don't even know if Final Shape will be decently written! It could be another macguffin chase inside the Traveler for all we know.
      Beyond Light was just "learn Stasis to unlock doors and kill the frosty Fallen because we don't want them to have this new power", Shadowkeep was "replay these old, reused boss battles to make gear to enter the Pyramid", and Lightfall was "use the magic green rope to kill cabal and save this random city except oops we lost I guess?" Witch Queen was the only compelling main DLC story since Forsaken, so Final Shape has maybe a 25% chance of being written well? I'm staying to see how it ends, but my investment beyond is most likely a no. Maybe if Bungie unvaults all the old Strikes and destinations I bought in year 1 and 2 I might keep playing.

    Honestly, this hits really close to home for me. Me, my brother, and my dad all played Destiny together from D1 beta to Rise of Iron, but stopped as me and my brother grew up. I played D2 at launch of course, but didn’t seriously play it until Beyond Light. I then stopped towards the end of Season of the Deep as college started and D2 was at a really low point, but suddenly, my dad came back to Destiny with Into The Light, and so did I. Between all of the good news with Destiny and being able to replicate the good old days with my dad, I’ve been genuinely happy and enjoying the game. It has been really great to connect with my dad again as I don’t really get a chance to see him much. All of this is to say that you aren’t alone in your feelings.

I was farming Kalli yesterday when I saw an old friend that I hadn't played with since Shadowkeep was online and playing on his own. It really reignited my passion and outlook on the future seeing friends I hadn't played with often since I had to basically convince them to play, now deciding on their own to get on and play and putting it into perspective for me how much things are changing for the better.

Talking with them was so fun and talking about what's been happening with our lives and everything else. I learned they came back online and on D2 because of the recent livestream bungie did. I was so happy to get them through everything and catch them up with the game they left. Made me feel like my D1 and vanilla D2 days where I would just help anyone I find through the game. A (long) open letter to TDT,
    Thank you. I as a Destiny player am in a very strange and specific situation. I'm a relatively new player who joined back in the middle of Season of the Witch (mid September 2023), around that 8 month mark you mentioned.
    I'd known about Destiny for a very long time though. My love of it started way back in D1, when as a kid I would watch my father play on his PlayStation. It was the coolest thing I had ever seen, super-soldier space paladins, wizards, and marksmen. The awesome abilities, incredible universe, and iconic characters enraptured me even though I wasn't the one holding the controller.
    However, eventually my dad put the game down, for the same reason as many other players, corporate greed poisioning a game he once loved to enjoy by himself, but especially with friends. I wasn't tapped into the community at the time--I was more interested in books than the internet back then--so I didn't really understand. So even though he stopped, the world of Destiny clung to my mind much harder.
    Years passed, and my gaming passion grew. I started with a 3Ds XL, eventually moved up to the family console, got a switch when it came out, and eventually got my own gaming laptop when I joined the Overwatch team at my highschool (my love of Overwatch is a similar story for a different day). As I got used to PC gaming more and more I started to connect with people. I managed to get my girlfriend into overwatch, who consequently got her best friend and friend of mine into the game, who then introduced us to her long distance Canadian boyfriend who I'll refer to by his gamertag of "Pug".
    Pug and I became close friends really quickly. We loved similar games and just understood each other's vibes. Playing with him was always a great time cause we would either mess around or have some serious conversations I couldn't have with many other people. And it was him who finally made me decide to download Destiny 2. He had played the game forever (since launch of D1 and had thousands of hours total) and while he never really recommended it I, him playing reinvigorated that old interest I had as a kid. He made a new account and showed me the ropes while I was a clueless warlock who didn't even know how armor stats worked, and gosh it was a great time. That journey into the grand universe of Destiny was incredible. I have never gained such a love for a game so quickly. Everything was amazing: gameplay, lore, universe, SOUNDTRACK, all truly awesome. I carry that passion with me to this day because I really do love this game.
    Yet, as I got more into Destiny and the community I started to learn about all this bad blood between the playbase and Bungie. All the negativity people had when they played was, honestly, such a turn off from the game. Pug introduced me to his raiding group when we did my first raid (Deep Stone Crypt, I wanted to hear the song in game), and hearing people bash the game felt so wrong. I was fresh, i had new eyes, no experiences of the trenches these players went through that slaughtered their love for the game that I was still carrying.
    Eventually the negativity started to get to me. The onslaught (no pun intended) of hate slowly beat down the flames of my passion, and I started to not enjoy the game like I used to. Their hate felt like poison and while I tried to resist it it just kept beating down from everywhere I looked in the community. I hated it, and started to hate how i wasn't liking the game as much as I used to, but I still pressed on. I still found enjoyment playing every day, just taking some breaks now and then cause burnout is a b****. But no matter what I still felt like the lone defender of this, at least as I saw it, amazing game.
    But seeing you talk about your reinvigorated passion was inspiring and emotional. I finally saw someone else say positive things about this game, and a content creator none the less! You have honestly thrown some rather large logs onto my fiery love of Destiny, and for that I thank you TDT. You've earned the spot as the best creator in this game, in my opinion, for your sheer humanness and ability to be vulnerable about your emotions. I’ll likely be hopping into streams when I can now (the names e1gran on twitch if you’re curious) so I hope to see you then.
    So once again, thank you greatly. Bless your unknown face, and deuces.

    It's funny, because one of my best friends I made on Destiny (my brother met him back in early D1, I became friends during mid to late D1) quit because of things like sunsetting. My brother told him of the changes coming, and he surprised us by coming back last night, for the first time since Witch Queen. We had a blast. Regardless of how long he sticks around, I'm loving the fact that he, and probably others, are coming back to the game.

    I feel this. I've been having a hard time with a LOT of games as of late, but as soon as a friend gets involved, everything picks up. It feels much more fun, it feels exciting!
    It's a shame I've no sunset weapons to fall back on, had some good, fun ones back in the day, but unfortunately, those are gone.
    I've been in a similar boat, feeling like I was pulling away from Destiny, was planning on EVENTUALLY getting Final Shape, but now... seeing everything they've done and what's to come, I'm back into it. I'm invested, I'm excited. I'm ready to stick it to the Witness!
    May people come together with games for a long time to come, it's a great bond maker for me and I'm sure many others.

    Thanks for making this video. It's really nice to see someone being genuinely positive about this game, while still acknowledging the less than ideal circumstances the game has found itself in recently.
    Destiny means a lot to me, I've been invested in it for 10 years now, I still remember coming across my first video about this game, it was MoreConsole covering the reveal trailer I believe, and I got hooked.
    I struggle to articulate just how important Destiny is to me. It's my escapism and my comfort game. I've made friendships that have lasted years through it, and had some truly incredible memories.
    I'm just so glad to see community interest peaking again. Some of us never stopped loving Destiny, but those who lost faith weren't in the wrong, they just felt betrayed. But the fact that they are returning now and finding a new reason to love this game again makes me emotional. And I love it.

    I'm not a content creator, but Destiny and by extension Destiny 2 has been a massive part of my life, it, quite literally, has saved my life on a number of occasions, seeing this recent string of insanely negative things coming from Bungie has hurt to watch, and now, seeing all the positive changes they've been both adding (Into the Light) and change (retiring sunsetting) has renewed my love of Destiny, and reinvigorated my drive to play.

    I'm a destiny beta player, and I feel you on this. I have made life long friends because of this game and have countless memories of doing raids and being in a clan, staying up to obsurd hours through the night, on into the morning be cause "One Last Run!" Even through all the bad stuff bungie had done, I have been invested in this game and Had to see it through. Sadly I am the only one to still play im my clan because of the greediness, and I can't leave my clan cause I am the unofficail clan leader (it was named after my charactor). That and I happen to be very sentimental about it. But with The Final Shape, I am so excited to play and see what happens for Destiny, and with LFG being a thing, I may be making more friends and/or rivels. It's all very exciting!

    Mesome, for what it's worth, you're by far my favorite destiny content creator on youtube, as well as the player I've studied the most to learn and master blinklock. I'd love to see what you'd do with other subject matter. I'm glad you're feeling the same way I am about the game. I was there for the D1 beta and lately it hasn't felt like "I'm just slogging through until Final Shape and then I'm out" to justify the years I've put into this franchise. Lately, I've been looking forward to playing, to getting fresh new rolls and looking forward to breaking out my some of my old ones.
    Hope to run into you in the crucible one day.

    I'm glad you had that moment of realization. Ive had that a couple times, its a nice feeling to see something more profound manifest out of the fog of what's happened the past few years. I'm glad some people havent been irreversibly impacted by all this stuff, and I hope the only people who stay and return are doing it out of fun and not the nasty cycle that developed over the past years.
    I'll still play when and if I find it fun, but I haven't shaken the ick I get from the televangelist vibe of paying for a hope of something better as opposed to something that IS simply better, no hidden strings.
