My dad and I did that on the farm in east Texas but he had to unscrew the sections as it got longer to empty it so I welded up a 20' tripod from some 2 3/8 tubing and welded rail road spikes on the bottom and 1/4" flat plates on top , added a 3/4" bolt and pulley then was able to tie the rope around the first section of pipe then the digging went fast .
Kudos, Martin. That is some effort for sure. Glad to see you guys have a high percentage of water on the other side of your property. Thanks for sharing. I will have to pick up an auger as "well". ;-)

Wow, such a big difference between rules, in Denmark you have to have 1000f between a well and a septic field, it can be reduced to 250f, IF the conditions allow for it (well on top of steep hill, and septic at the bottom) AND a geologist signs off on it

There is a difference in pulling water out of a hole and pushing water. There are 2 guys, cousins, that each bought 40 acres in Idaho. Yes your neighbor. They each had to dig a well where a spring was. I know Heath is pushing water over 1000' up the mt to a tank app 100' above his house to create pressure at the spigot. You may need a submersible pump to get the water the 1000' to a big tank and then another pump to service the house. If you find good water at the other location I know you can make it work, but you will need more than that auger. It's a lot cheaper than drilling.
Hello, my well is about 40 feet and the water is a little murky, is therea way to fix that? It appears the water to be clear but I have to change the filter like every month. Is there a way to fix that so I could get clear water all the time? Thanks.
@@MartinJohnsonOffGridLiving "suction" or jet pumping water from 18' into a storage tank doesn't take much energy. Before digging 1000' of trench consider using 3/4" polypipe on the surface. I ran 700' of polypipe an entire winter on the surface down to -10F. It sounds crazy but as long as you keep water circulating, even slowly, it's pretty hard to freeze. 1000' of polypipe is only $150....
@@MartinJohnsonOffGridLiving is that what it's called? Well witching?! I didn't know that. I could have sworn they took old wire hangers and did it on our property for our well.
Does anyone have any recommendations on winterizing the pitcher pump? Can it be used all winter? I installed a shut off valve just below it the pump, so I can keep it primed during the summer and I figured in the winter open it and let the water drop down. My water table is 22 feet so it’s better to keep it primed as much as possible. Any help with winter prep is much appreciated.
Will this go through clay and chalk. This could be perfect because I need a boar hole done going down 10 or 15 metres Iv been quoted £15000 this price is crazy but to other companies have quoted around the same price. But because your ground is sand I’m wondering if this will do what I need !!!!
Legend has it the amazon workers, are over worked and underpaid so much they hate their job so they pack tiny package inside massively large ones to waste the companys money on unessary shipping cost

We almost lost a well pump down there when replacing it, it took 3 grown men to wrestle it for almost 15 minutes.
Heath with TH-cam channel Red Poppy Ranch in Southeastern Idaho would take walks on his property. He kept noticing that one particular spot was damp all the time, even during summer. He took a chance to dig a shallow well there, and hit the jackpot.
Sorry for the annoying comment.... If you are digging straight down you're not going to come out in China, you'll come out in the southern hemisphere. Somewhere in the Indian Ocean, so you'll get water! Off by a degree or two you'll hit the French and Antarctic lands. So Bonjour!

You should try using divining rods to find where to dig a well.

Good dirt and sand for a Earth rammed project with the use of that digging tool
