I'm happy to say I have worked with him and he's very professional and very charismatic. He's made some amazing choices but he's another actor who's under recognised.
It's sooooo refreshing to hear him say so many of the things we all think about the movie business. One of the great actors of all time. Seems like an absolutely wonderful person.
He's seems really articulate and open to any discussion. He did admit to human flaws and alcoholism at one point but it all pays off with his performances I hope to see him in more movies he's truly a gem
Brando told the world what he thought of an Oscar and frankly I feel Gary is above it anyway ... he transcends all that BS ... Gary is and always will be one of the greats of all time. Get in Gazza!
It's interesting that some people still pick his early villain roles like Stansfield or Drexl as his best in this comment section, even though the actor himself very clearly hate that kind of "You were once great" praises. Listen to what he says about Love Me Do and Sergeant Pepper's. I'm glad Smiley and Churchill decisively redefined his later career as one of the most skilled mature actor, away from those flamboyant but shallow firecracker-type roles from decades ago.
finally got around to seeing him in Nobody's Baby and Interstate 60, yet more fantastic performances. I rate Gary Oldman as the greatest of all time, hopefully it will be Sir Gary Oldman soon
ourbestactor I have seen a lot of theatre & film. I was Allen Ginsburgs tripping pal so I know Joe Orton's scene. Gary was perfect in that, too. Nil by mouth gr8 also, specially Kathy Burke. Fab lady. As Vlad Dracula he was a dream. Mo power 2 ur elbow gazza. xxx
I love his hands. There is something very sensual about those long, slender fingers of his. I call them piano playing hands. But I especially love the way he uses them on others in his movies. I watch his hands when I watch his movies.
The reason he didn't win best actor and some actor we've never heard of, or will hear of again, won is because Oldman didn't have Harvey Weinsteins' Oscar campaign behind him. Weinstein got Gwyneth Paltrow an Oscar for god's sake!
Actually, Cronenberg has said Gary Oldman is an excellent actor! Wonder if he still doesn't want to work with him, though, due to his style, or something.
His use of "nickel" instead of "penny" and "soccer" instead of "football" for the benefit and respect of the US interviewer marks him out as a conscientious gentleman.
SpecialColector Absolutely. It still topical, especially now. All the actors were brilliant: I worked in a similar scene in 60's. Met all those characters. I think the award should go to the casting director & Gary Oldmans peepers. What a gr8 tool for an actor to possess. I have loved the craft for a very long time so know what it's about. I love being helped to suspend disbelief. So thanx Gary - best Smiley. The eyes have it ay. The faery feller's master stroke ha ha. Diolch yn fawr x
I've watched the film of Malcolm McDowell in the Brian Forbes film - the wheelchairs are almost the equivalent of being black ! But Malcolm turns an obstacle into a benefit - by 'acting'.
O', draggooo....Gary doesn't have any money to sit tight and enjoy himself ? Not kewl ! I almost can't believe it. And Cronenberg won't hire him ? What ? Love to know what's behind that one...
I don’t think he is hurting for cash now. When he was younger, he did have to do jobs he didn’t like for cash. I saw that he needed to raise capital for Nil by Mouth. He has been married and divorced a number of times. I don’t know how much he had to pay out for them.
There's something so alluring about Gary that makes him really captivating on screen. I also never realised this but he has beautiful eyes.
And hair...5 months late to conversation
@@brigittebenjamin9528 Yes that's true. He has great hair.
He has beautiful, expressive eyes and beautiful HANDS.
This Man is the most versatile actor that I have ever seen in movies. I hope one day he wins an OSCAR, because he deserves it.
I'm happy to say I have worked with him and he's very professional and very charismatic. He's made some amazing choices but he's another actor who's under recognised.
I am Gary Oldman. Thank you for the kind words
YES!!!! Used alot,,,,, should never have certain jobs or info.....Yet Kinda has.
@@oscarsalesgirl296you’re disgusting
He deserves more than all the Oscars.
Let's hope that they do Smiley's People with the brilliant Gary Oldman
He's so underrated actor. He deserves more oscar 😢❤
Truly sublime actor, deserved to have won several oscars by now. Genius.
I agree. He deserves an Oscar for almost every one of his roles, leading Actor or not. I loved him in The Contender. Took a while to recognize him.
the incredible honesty mr oldman shows is very engaging and respectable
What a thoughtful gentleman, I really appreciate the quality of his listening in this interviews is in part what makes him a masterful actor.
So much respect for Gary Oldman. From Drexl to Zorg to Runyan to Smiley....talent, grace, and class at their finest.
It's sooooo refreshing to hear him say so many of the things we all think about the movie business.
One of the great actors of all time.
Seems like an absolutely wonderful person.
No one could play Beethoven better then him....No one!!, He was and still is the best actor to play him. fabulous actor!!!
He's seems really articulate and open to any discussion. He did admit to human flaws and alcoholism at one point but it all pays off with his performances I hope to see him in more movies he's truly a gem
He just has gotten better and better with age. He seems so at ease. Maybe that's the secret.
A vastly underrated and unappreciated actor. Can act most 'Superstar Actors' clean off the set.
Love Gary!!!!!!!! Oscar or not he ROCKS it!!!!!!!!! Could listen and watch him all day long..be it interview or on screen!!! ♥
He's definitely going to win an Oscar someday. It's just a matter of time.
Brando told the world what he thought of an Oscar and frankly I feel Gary is above it anyway ... he transcends all that BS ... Gary is and always will be one of the greats of all time. Get in Gazza!
I concur entirely with this statement. Full endorsement.
Gary Oldman's decription of his life and career shows very considerable persistance, learning ability and guile. Well done Gary
I saw his face in the thumbnail and my brain went "EEEVVERYOOOONE!!!"
cant believe i sat through a whole interview. thank you and nice work.
Greatest actor who ever lived.... enough said
You really get to see Gary the normal working human being here, not the legendary actor built up in so many people's minds.
It's interesting that some people still pick his early villain roles like Stansfield or Drexl as his best in this comment section, even though the actor himself very clearly hate that kind of "You were once great" praises. Listen to what he says about Love Me Do and Sergeant Pepper's. His role in State Of Grace is one of the top 5 greatest screen performances EVER...in my opinion.
Oscar winning fims are not always filled with actors who are remembered. HE WILL BE, oscar or not.
what a gentleman
finally got around to seeing him in Nobody's Baby and Interstate 60, yet more fantastic performances.
I rate Gary Oldman as the greatest of all time, hopefully it will be Sir Gary Oldman soon
If there is ever a movie about David Bowie, this guy would nail it, no make up needed.
There should always be at least 2 amazing offers for Oldman, at all times - that he can take his pick of - he can play anything and do it well!
Gary likes having it that way though, especially at this point in his life. He relishes the time he spends with his family.
Gary first caught my attention in State of Grace. I remember thinking 'that guy is truly good'. He's been one of my favorite actors since.
First time I saw him was in "The Fifth Element" as "Zorg".
I agree and I used to go to Stratford (Rhoyal Shakespeare Company) pretty often, seen some of the best. HE IS THE BEST.
ourbestactor I have seen a lot of theatre & film. I was Allen Ginsburgs tripping pal so I know Joe Orton's scene. Gary was perfect in that, too. Nil by mouth gr8 also, specially Kathy Burke. Fab lady. As Vlad Dracula he was a dream. Mo power 2 ur elbow gazza. xxx
Love how he disappears into a role and doesn't overact. One of the best in the world. Edward Norton is another who has this capability.
So true... he and Norton have that similarity!
Welllll... sometimes. He's given a couple performances that are among the most overacted of all time. In Leon/The Professional, especially.
"I don't do Spandex anymore"
- Gary Oldman, 2012 -
I love his hands. There is something very sensual about those long, slender fingers of his. I call them piano playing hands. But I especially love the way he uses them on others in his movies. I watch his hands when I watch his movies.
A genuinely modest man, no bullshit.
He's even reluctant to compare himself to The Beatles. ; - )
he scared the crap out of me in Dracula.
Ich fand ihn sexy❤
he looks so cute when he says: ''i've got three years on george'' lol
Gary Oldman is hotter than most actors.. always has been haha ;')
i love him !
The reason he didn't win best actor and some actor we've never heard of, or will hear of again, won is because Oldman didn't have Harvey Weinsteins' Oscar campaign behind him. Weinstein got Gwyneth Paltrow an Oscar for god's sake!
these days it might be a good thing. :)
love nil of mouth awesome person very humble i enjoy watching him
maravilloso Ser!!!!!!!!!!
I'd love to see Gary in a Paul Thomas Anderson film.
Actually, Cronenberg has said Gary Oldman is an excellent actor! Wonder if he still doesn't want to work with him, though, due to his style, or something.
"DARN!!!! IF HE WASN'T MARRIED I WOULD LOVE TO HAVE HIM!!!!!!😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍
i love this guy !
Cronenberg doesn't want to work with you? You're not missing out on anything, Gary.
"So do you carry with you, well obviously not any academy awards hurrdihurp!" such endless tact this interviewer has.
He has beautiful hands
Except for a minuscule number of actors Gary Oldman can act them clean off any set you care to mention. The standard by which actors are judged !.
it's funny , I can occasionally hear a hint of west country burr in his voice , and I faut e waz a Lan-don-ur LOL . What a guy ! .
This man deserves a bleedin Oscar! Then Marty will call, bada bing.
He seems disappointed and rightly so. Here is a genuine actor who works like a CHAMELEON but has dearth of Good options.
His use of "nickel" instead of "penny" and "soccer" instead of "football" for the benefit and respect of the US interviewer marks him out as a conscientious gentleman.
How about Oldman in spandex in Spiderman 7 -The Vintage Series? Great actor and a good interview.
14:35 Hahaha, yeah that must be it Gary!
I do love Gary but I cringed at that bit
classic...
@VideoMaster1212 Phil Joanou, the director of 'State of Grace'
O', the Horror ! He's previously said he hated Sid and Nancy....
I would quite enjoy an Oldman/Scorsese collaboration.
Cameraman: Zoom IN and stay there, would you???
he will always be STAN
Stupid question here, but what does "DP/30" stand for exactly?
I don't understand the meaning of the title.
Solider or Soldier Solider or Soldier Solider or Soldier Solider or Soldier

Who does the interviewer mention at 13:26? "Scorsese-Lite...."
True that!
Cronenberg hates Gary??? I mean, WTF???
@ 0:14 Gary raises an eye brow!!! Damn!!!! Sexy!! SEXY!!!!
14:20 Cronenberg won't hear his name?? That's disappointing.
Well, Cronenberg's loss.
AGREE.ME TOO.MY FRIEND.
I've watched the film of Malcolm McDowell in the Brian Forbes film - the wheelchairs are almost the equivalent of being black ! But Malcolm turns an obstacle into a benefit - by 'acting'.

Good interview, but Jesus pick a framing and stick with it. This is hard to watch.
"one is"...?
Cronenberg's loss...pfft!
Marion Cotillard WILL be remembered, but maybe not for her Oscar :)
@extenebrislux he prefers working with Robert Pattinson... LOL
