Lawrence it's ENTIRELY necessary to make it all pink. Pink is the best colour in the world and as a kid I would have LOVED a fully pink caterpillar cake (regardless of the gender) ❤️
My 13 year old sent me out to Tesco after watching this to buy a caterpillar cake - i managed to get curly the caterpillar 😁. We don't have as many caterpillar options here in Ireland xx

We were only allowed 10 inside (no singing) and 20 more outside. The service could only be 30 mins long (difficult to say everything about a life that spanned 92 years). 💖💖💖
Never tried a caterpillar cake, it wasn't a thing when I was young, my nephew's had one but there wasn't enough for the adults to to have a slice, just the kids so I just drooled at it. I imagined it tasted like a giant mini roll.

I've always felt Colin is overrated! Every time I've had it, the cake is so dry. But I didn't grow up with him, so zero nostalgia factor for me. I might give the Sainsbury's one a go, their other party cakes have been lush.
Different comment box because I’m having different conversations: I know why one of them can’t be separated into cake & cream. They’re using the chocolate cake crumbs from other cakes. They mix it with butter cream to create a cake dough, like the inside of a cake pop. Then they rolled the dough out flat & then rolled it into a Swiss Roll swirl & covered in in chocolate & sprinkles. It’s a smart way of getting the most out of the ingredients you ordered

I was obsessed with pink when I was little and loved caterpillar cakes but I wouldn’t have wanted a regular caterpillar cake as I also wanted a pink/pretty birthday cake so I can see why Tesco have made two versions.

have you guys managed to track down the new m&s cake jars? colin in a jar seems to be more satisfying...it is also a lot more (prepare for the word) moist and there is a better proportion of cake:ganache.
Tesco have a Caterpillar cake called Curley. I had it for my birthday and was so disappointed as the cake was so dry and overwhelming on the chocolate. Wont be buying it again. Watching this video is making what cake now. 😊

Aww Lawrence, growing up with mouldy food #relatable and although as adults we make choices about sell by/use by dates it can be tough as a kid just getting what you're given ❤️💔❤️ And Sophie not at all upset about getting a 'Wiggles' instead of a 'Colin' as a kid.... They aren't worried about the other cakes, as they look different to Colin. However aldis one looks too similar with its large white choc face, large brown eyes, ears standing up and pink tongue sticking out. It also has the same white feet and only smarties on the top. If you look the others have changed theirs.

If Colin the Caterpillar is so good and so premium, M&S really shouldn’t be worried should they? Plus the Waitrose and Sainsbury’s ones actually look very similar to the M&S one too with the same white chocolate face, just different eyes.

It isn’t that girls need their own version like the boys. The point is that we need to stop assuming male identity without it being stated. Even names don’t really work as one gender or the other. I can’t imagine how unsupported our non binary people feel when everyone & everything needs to be male… or female. The traditionally feminine people are already considered as second class citizens but our racially diverse people come after that & then out LGBTQIA+ people come after that. Obviously there’s a lot more to it & it depends on where you are. Edit: This is not intended as aggressive towards the people on screen. They opened up the door to discuss something I care about, so I’m weighing in with my opinion. I have nothing against them or even the companies who make the decisions on cakes. I enjoyed the video ❤

The ‘boy’ cake at Tesco is gluten free. The ‘Calli’ cake isn’t, so that’s why there are 2 different ones, not just ‘oh there must be a boy and a girl one’
Actually no. There is Curly the caterpillar (the “boy” original caterpillar cake) there is Calli the caterpillar (the pink cake featured in this video) and there is Carl the caterpillar cake, which is the GF cake. So there are 3 different caterpillar 🐛 cakes at Tesco 👍👍
Alot of Caterpillar cakes are made in same cake factory only one that's not made there is m and s colin cake he made in same factory but in different food warehouse because my brother used work for hazlewood food company here in hull when m and s went look at hazlewood in hull they insisted that they didn't want any there cakes made with any other shops cakes they had to have separate food factory away from main factory
