    Thanks Joe great video will hopefully try the Napoleon pass next time😊 As soon as I watched this, it brought back so many memories of my first day

      Hi Rob, yes it brings back the memories of April's Camino so many wonderful memories bring on April 2025 for Lisbon to Santiago

    I did walk the Napoleon route this sept and I realized that bike is not a good option how about the Valcalros will it be doable in your opinion thank you for sharing new sub

      The lower Valcarlos route is quite good up to Valcarlos as the gradient is low, but the last five kms the gradient spikes above 25% so that is what you have to ask yourself can you handle that gradient for that distance. I know that walking both I found that Valcarlos tired me out more because of that steep gradient at the end, Napoleon route you climb higher but the climb is more spread out. Buen Camino

    You arrive at Saint Jean Pied the Port to begin your Camino Frances & you are faced with two choices the popular Napoleon Route or the Valcarlos Route used mainly in winter. I have done both in the last year & they each have it's merits & I explain why. I welcome your comments & tell me which one you prefer?
