      It doesn't really matter what pencil you use tbh, since you're inking over the lines anyway

    • @RandyRivers2
      @RandyRivers2 4 ปีที่แล้ว +36

      @@raheelkhan6585 Well when you ink your pencils, you don't always want to follow the pencils lines exactly. Some professional inkers like to add a bit of flare, so they'll deviate on purpose while still retaining the message the art is meant to communicate. Ink can be used to enhance art, and a good artist can get more if they do more than just "tracing". And sure, neat lines are great, but you can definitely get neat lines from a well sharpened pencil. So the type pencil does matter, but only to the point where the artist has to decide what they like using.

      with a tracing light board like that if you mess up the ink you just start again. Just take a break in between and what you end up with after the mistake will probably look better than what it was before the mistake. :) wouldn't be so fun on a time crunch though. or white out, when working with black and white stuff Whitout doesn't show when you scan it digitally so that's work perfectly fine.

      That's what white-out is for, my dear. Manga artists are experienced, but not perfect. Manga is black and white so nobody is going to fault you for jury-rigging fixes with correction fluid, tape, more ink, etc. Once it's scanned nobody will ever know.

    • @deku5958
      @deku5958 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      If I'm not mistaken, the weekly series should have 19 pages. There are 7 days of which 1-2 days are spent on storyboarding and approval by the editor. There are about 5 days left for all 19 pages, assistants are used for this. However, if the series is not approved, you will have to do everything alone

    Sensei, could you maybe tell me if there is something like an ''unofficial rule'' as a basic for when to use a G-Pen and when to use a Maru?
    i know that generally Maru is more specialised for details, and G-Pen for outlines kinda stuff, but i have a really hard time distinguishing between the two when i try to analyse some Mangas that i own as books.
    Great work as allways...its amazing what quality you can accomplish with a simple Pen. Very inspiring!

    • @vulnerablerummy
      @vulnerablerummy 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      but you just explained the rule yourself..

    • @ShadyRealRap96
      @ShadyRealRap96 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@vulnerablerummy haha yeah i should have been more specific with my question maybe...my question is more towards the thing like: what does even count as detailed? i often feel that in many mangas all the inner planes of the outline of a charackter are drawn with a maru, but then i see Mr. Yoshitomi draw and he rarely even uses a Maru on stuff like clothes for example...he even draws folds in the clothes with a G-Pen. So that kind of made me wonder what technique is more common...
      that there are differences from artist to artist is obvious, but theres a lack of trust in my senses when it comes to seeing if something is drawn with G-Pen or Maru, because its so hard to imagine the original size that a Manga page was drawn in.
      But im getting better at it, and most importantly kind of find my own way of doing things at the moment.

    • @vulnerablerummy
      @vulnerablerummy 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@ShadyRealRap96 my opinion is it's got something to do with the tone/value.
      1. for example, on really dark/high contrast part, use g-pen for bold and heavy lines.
      2. on light value/transition to light tone use maru pen. sometimes if you feels like adding crosshatching in your sketch maru pen might be better choice since it has line weight consistency.
      my other thought is that once you're comfortable enough to use g pen, you'll find that you rely less on maru pen. Just practice doing line variation with the nib.

    • @ShadyRealRap96
      @ShadyRealRap96 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I used to be so lost when it came to sketching because, well, firstly, I never took lessons, I couldn’t afford it. So I’d try to look at an object or person and draw them starting with a body feature like the nose and drawing outwards from there without any outlines or guiding sketches. You can imagine how lopsided or off my sketches were, but they weren’t that bad to be honest. But in high school I started to become more insecure about my drawings and the daunting of teaching myself that I ended up giving up on art and went into college to become a doctor as my parents wanted and lost my passion for sketching because I thought I was no good and never could be. It took many years for me to regain my passion and overcome my insecurities to understand that no artist or piece of art starts off perfect. I started to learn through books, videos, friends and found out what my problem was way back then when I was younger straight away. I just never learned, or maybe had the patience to learn, how to guide my sketches, outline the objects/persons posture, shading, and the positions of features. I laugh about it now because I think when you’re young you see someone older doing something so amazing like drawing like Akihito Yoshitomi and think ‘wow, I want to draw like that’ and then get easily discouraged when we can’t draw like that right away. All SKILLS TAKE TIME, SOMETIMES LONGER THAN OTHERS, TO IMPROVE AND HONE. That is the one important lesson I’ve learned in life through sketching. Taking the time to understand the basic building blocks of a skill you want to learn is key to becoming successful at it. So, don’t get discouraged my friends. If there’s something you want to do, to learn, to become, just keep on trying and eventually you will do, learn, become that thing you’ve worked so hard for. …Thats all I wanted to say I guess 😅❤😊

    beautifull page! 3 hour for a page is a bargain! if you can do two of the day youre a hero. three and you can be a top notch mangaka in a top notch japanese publisher, I believe.
