    They take off in cool weather. I have some too and it's been 2 years they are still growing.

      I was wondering how long is the growth span because I have some that are going on year #2. 🥰

      My favorite way is in the crock pot, just Google a recipe, there are many, hope that helps.

      I actually substitute them for lettuce if I'm out.

    Collards are so yummy, I’m heating up leftovers as I speak at 2am, I’m hungry.

    I'm in central Florida too and I grow my starters in 7 gal nursrey pots it says 6.23 gal but it's considered 7gal.Leave about 2 or 3 inches at top so you can add more soil as it grows.I grow them every year and they get huge.

    Ginger, I'm surprised to see that your lovely potted collards are not protected with an insect protection covering. The little green wormy guys (catapillars) come from the white butterfly. It's only a matter time before those white butterflies will reek havoc on your lovely collards without some insect plant covering. I use those green caterpillars for bluegill fishing bait. They work wonders!

      @GingerRosalie  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes thanks for the reminder, we have been getting such heavy rain everyday so there is nothing on them yet,but I never thought of using the wormy guys as bait. That's a great idea! We might actually try that lol!

    After the roots fill up the pot, you can easily move them up to a bigger container.

    What size is your container? I have some growing in a concrete mixer pan but I think it's to shallow. I went to Lowe's and got the 5 gallon buckets to transfer them in. I also got the 20 gallon storage containers

    I am growing the same collards in pots as well, I also have six containers but a coupleof the containers have 3 plants because they are intertwined. I'm in colorado and I also use mine to add store bought ones. It's great.

      You can start seeds in midsummer for a fall crop, they like cool temperatures. They do best early spring and fall, but they should grow nice most of the year in your area.
