And that face in the upper left corner. She'd look not only like a she but also be quite pretty. The Q&A explained that veil jumpers don't have open shoes because they often find themselves in umpredictable terrain and they could cut themselves on pieces of broken eluvians

I miss the days I was excited for Dragon Age: Dreadwolf. The older concept art we had from back then looked really cool. All the characters but clearly they decided to completely change plans in the last few years.
We are likely to get a chronically cranky Fenris type as every second game has one along with a frustrated Anders type. The art style definitely bellows Dragon Age 2. Bellara for instance fills in for Merrill which means Neve could be another Isabella type even if she's described a cynic.
Kayla, I have a theory about Lucanis, in Origin Wynn had a spirit of Faith inside her. In Awakening, the spirit of Justice possessed the body of Kristoff. In Exodus (II) Andas took the spirit of Justice into him. In Inquisition, the spirit of Compassion possessed the body of Cole. So I think in Veilguard, Lucanis has a spirit, perhaps the spirit of Death, inside him due to him supposed to have been killed.
Hey Kala, I saw what went down on DA Twitter & wanted to offer my unconditional support. I'm so sorry for the cruel censure/bullying you received. No one deserves to have their well-intentioned actions misrepresented and distorted like that. Stay safe, and I hope you enjoyed your time at Redwood!
I'm hoping they don't show too much more of any possible powers for Harding. Would def prefer to see her show them off ingame. Though Im guessing that's going to be like a rock armor/stone skin armor buff if it's still part of the game.
Aw, had I known you had a game code through EA, I wouldn't have gotten it on Steam :( Ah well, thanks for the cover of DAV. I'm still stoked for the game, and can't wait for you to play/stream it when it becomes available! ^^
I actually thought that Harding might be turning into stone when I saw the trailer. The blotches on her face might not be there because she’s beaten up, but these might be literally parts of her skin turning into stone. As a result, she might be developing magic as she’s connecting to a Titan.
ok i didn't know about the caffeine thing so now i'm just imaging a bunch of mages drinking coffee to keep themselves awake for a all night study thing and then realizing they can barely cast magic.
I love BioWare keeps saying that they are editing stuff to avoid spoilers but leave major lore stuff in like what’s next they’ll casually drop that Bellara is the Maker in an Instagram post😭😭😭
Absolutely loved the Harding concepts, especially the large picture of her and the one in the upper right. I agree with you on Bellara, she only keeps getting more of my attention! I was surprised to see Neve as a blond woman (I actually hope they store this concept for someone else and don’t totally scrap it), but I’m glad they took the direction they did with her. I wouldn’t mind more insight into Taash, but I did like her weaponry. I was actually a little concerned that the blog post BioWare did yesterday was the only thing they’d do this week. I’m thankful that isn’t the case! Thank you for posting this!
I actually like blond Neve a bit more, don't get me wrong she's STUNNING but her finished design and overall vibes gives me so much Vivienne i just can't get the association out of my head 😭
@@koshetz I mean it kind of makes sense. Tevinter is much hotter then Ferelden. So Neve being native to Tevinter should be more dark skinned. We already saw Dorian being dark and he is native to Tevinter himself. I think blond Neve might have been from time when they wanted her not to be native to Tevinter. Would explain disdain for how things are there, despite being able to cast magic.
@@davidradach9311 you nailed why I somehow am not that much into Lucanis. I never liked how Blackwall looked nor did I like his character that much, it was definition of 'meh' and prime reason why I worry that Davrin shares said faction.
@@cracmar03 Neve being brown is totally valid! But we also had a Maevaris who is also a blonde Tevinter mage woman in blue. I might even speculate Neve's design was changed so she wouldn't look like Mae whom might appear in the game (since she and Dorian are friends)
While Harding may well have a direct physical transformation, such transparency is also a known thing in concept art to highlight clothing/accessories.
Not saying this is the case, though! You’re speculating responsibly! I just know some fans tend to lose sight of the purpose of concept art and treat it as gospel.
I don’t think I liked any of the Harding concept art. I definitely prefer the iteration that made it into the game best. She looks like a Disney princess in the concept art but like a dwarven woman in the game. Bellara looked like a Disney princess too except for the one that looks like 80’s era fantasy girl. Lucanis, Taash and Neve looked fantastic. Emmerich looked pretty cartoony in some of those so I’m glad they toned it down a little for the actual game. I’m wondering if someone will do a skin texture mod to get rid of some of that smoothness they all have.
They should do gifts from Origins and DA II dlc's thing . For Neve it should be hats. Imagine gifting Neve hat and she casually wears it during game or cutscenes.
Wasn't it mentioned that companions can have different endings, so to speak? Maybe Harding's crystal form is a worse outcome for her and something Rook can help her avoid?
The artwork is more cartoonish than Inquisition but I don't mind it so far. Games trying to be too realistic end up looking creepy. Also we know Solas looks amazing and that's all that counts right?.... Right?
@kalaelizabeth Thanks for bringing positive clear on point discussion about Veilguard without hate baiting or toxic behavior for this I'll take it from EA App using your coupon as a support and reward for best behavior and being my favorite go to regarding this game. ❤
The toes thing was part of the elf redesign for DA2. If they added it, they can take it away. Personally I'm glad they have because it never made any sense to me at all that of all the races, only elves wouldn't need proper footwear.
From what we've been shown so far, I get the feeling Bioware might be trying to answer too many question/solve too many mysteries in this game - almost as if they feel like this might be the last time we go to Thedas. I really hope they don't answer too many mysteries, as that rarely makes things better. Like, we don't need to know for sure if Qunari have dragonblood AND get more about children of the Stone AND learn everything about how the blight works AND learn everything about The Fade. Leave questions open, it makes things better. I think it was Guillermo del Toro who said "the best stories begin with 'once upon a time there was a ...' and don't explain too much, you take away the magic by giving in depth explanations." All that said, I have really high hopes for this game and hope we all enjoy it :)
I like the bronzey-skinned art of Taash in the top left corner so much better than what we’ve seen of her so far :/ I always assumed there would be a female qunari companion in this game but was really hoping they would go with something softer instead of the stereotypical dommy mommy thing just because it’s kind of obvious. We’ll see tho ^^
I agree. And it's not just the mommy-dommy thing, the current Taash doesn't look like a female when it comes to her face. The top left, bronze skinned Taash was beautiful and looked feminine. I really hope someone will mod that face into the game.
@@chillax319 I don't like Taash design at all (which i couldn't say about other companions) but her being masculine is actually make sense with her race being bulky and muscular with rough facial features. But still i hope you can make pretty male or female qunari as an exception for main character since Bioware admitted players can make their qunari MCs thin.
@@koshetz Sure but I'd rather have them look more similar to DA:I female qunari instead. When it comes to character creator I hope I can make as bulky qunari as they were in DA2. And hopefully the gear and weapons are not going to look weird on them like in DA:I.
I hope writing will be of better quality than Biowares capability to keep spoilers away. Altough crystal Harding may be just a concept that never made it into the game itself, after all it is a concept art. Also Tash in the upper left corner has so much better face than the final result! You can tell that's a woman in that picture unlike with the current Tash(I hope someone will mod that concept art face onto the character). Also that axe at the bottom looks amazing. Same goes for our female elf companion. Her concept art is far superior to what we got in the game, her facial structure is far closer to how elves in DA2 and Inquisition looked like.
I htin ki tmigh tb econnected t oher powers w esee her weildin gin th erelease dat etrailer .M yguess is she was either affected b ySolas's ritua lsomehow o ra Titan has woken up due to what Sols and the Elven Gods are doing and is reaching out to her like the Titan that reached out to Valta at the end of Descent in DAI. That's my theory anyway
(spoilers) Well part of game .. plot revolves around Solas going in with his plan to destroy and tear down the Veil. As such, the magic is returning as he is tearing down the blockade. Ofc that means that demons and other spirits can easily pass through, and Fade sipping into reality makes people develop magic as they can clearly connect to it now. Solas already ripped Veil in great chunk as he tried to move imprisoned Evanuris around. We could hear his talk with Varric when Varric is telling him about demons popping around everywhere, and Solas says that he is holding much worse things at bay as he is conducting ritual. Varric shouldn't stop him for sake of all as he does it. Ofc .. Varric by that point already told player character to stop ritual .. so we botch it.
@@cracmar03 I hope that more magiky stuff will be explained in-game in this way. It'd also make plenty of people go quite nuts with how "everyone becomes a mage, burn them!".
Is Lucanis like Justice? Ie. does he have a pact with a Spirit? Also, imo Neve's design with White hair and lighter skin looked prettier. I also agree that one of these Emmrich faces is muuuuuuch better than the cartoony version we ended up with. Taash's face designs are all over the place.... some latest shots are literally making her look ugly, but that one where she had brown skin, she looks soooo much prettier. I question some of these final choices....

@kalaelizabeth Thanks for bringing positive clear on point discussion about Veilguard without hate baiting or toxic behavior for this I'll take it from EA App using your coupon as a support and reward for best behavior and being my favorite go to regarding this game. ❤
Thanks!
Harding better be loyal to my inquisitor!
Is there a physical edition of dragon age veilguard deluxe edition?
there is yes! Though I don't know if there is a PC version, but there's physical xbox and PS ones out at the standard retailers
@@kalaelizabeth thank you
Algorithm comment 😮
The toes thing was part of the elf redesign for DA2. If they added it, they can take it away. Personally I'm glad they have because it never made any sense to me at all that of all the races, only elves wouldn't need proper footwear.
Yeah I am relieved it's gone. I love Dragon Age II but I hated the lack of proper boots. I would be fine with sandals instead even.
alot of better design left only on paper
All the characters do feel like a bit...chonky. In the concept art they're taller and thinner which does look better like you said.
Yep, Harding's face is smushed and the exaggerated freckles are ugly. She is hideous now vs Inquisition.
I think it was Guillermo del Toro who said "the best stories begin with 'once upon a time there was a ...' and don't explain too much, you take away the magic by giving in depth explanations."
All that said, I have really high hopes for this game and hope we all enjoy it :)
I wish Taash did appear more like her concept art.
The designs of the other characters look good.
As long as Harding doesn't start shouting about the "wooonz!"...
I agree that the sharpness was sadly lost!
One of my questions, I hope the game answers, why does it seem that all the characters use some form of magic? Aren’t magic users rare?
Thank you for sharing! Though Crystal-Harding is intriguing as a concept, I hope BioWare runs far away from Marvel emulation in their companions.
The male companion options this time around are quite unappealing to me. Looks like my character will be solo, the whole game.
Not Enchantment.
I have purchased the rook's coffer but not the game just yet😅
But I'll use your code when I get the game, you can be sure of that.
white woman Neve, it's insane her square hat was even more ridiculous as as ultimate frisbee
