Usually, on this show, the patients often seem entitled, whiny, rude, and abusive to those around them, but David seemed like a nice and honest guy who was very receptive to Dr Now’s critiques and proved that he was willing to change. I wish him the very best because he came across as someone deserving of a second chance at life. 💕
His face is handsome...It's sad
Agree. No excuses. no blaming others. His mother seems really nice too.
“A lot of food comes through the door that ends up being eaten” 😂😂😂
"I end up pooping out a lot of food somehow."
duh....
I nearly jumped out of my chair in excitement when he weighed in at 552. I was really rooting for him. David is really likeable and seems decent. I hope he's doing well right now.
But I did have to suppress a laugh when his foster mother jumped at the bed creaking😅
Nothing taste better than health
Do you have a job? No I don't. So you just sit around eating and doing nothing. Yes sir. I love that guy 😂 he took that so well.
I always wonder how they can affort it. They're eating for at least USD 50-100 every day with no real income.
@@atheistfromaustriahis foster mother is rich
I am so impressed with David! Great Job!
He is a handsome guy, I hope he gets his shit figured out.
He is very handsome
He never will have a good shape! If he is slim, the empty skin is around him 😢
David has such beautiful hair. He's really handsome.
I'm sorry, but handsome isn't exposing your giant derriere in a hospital gown. That doesn't close.
Má hezké i nohy. Zdravé bez otoků. Moc mu přeji, aby zhubnul.😊❤😊A taky má moc pěknou mámu.
Agree
Robin is a beautiful human being, inside and out❤
I know most of the problem is mental but it takes a lot get through that hurdle. Hope for the best for him. 😮😢
He managed to lose over 200lbs without surgery. You'd think he'd realize he's capable of continuing to lose weight without risking his life going under anesthesia.
My stepson became morbidly obese in his 20s. Everyone tried to help and encourage him with better food choices and lifestyle changes. He had dozens of excuses, blamed everyone else for his problems and he ate everything he shouldn't. Over the last several years he has had amputations due to diabetes, and he has gone blind. The next surgery proposed will be to remove his eyes due to necrosis. It's such a damn shame and could have been prevented! All obese young adults must take their health seriously to prevent such terrible complications! We only have one body, take care of it!
There were people who were awful, abusive, and total failures. This awesome guy deserves to have his surgery. When I had my VSG surgery I had to lose 10 percent of my body weight. I was close enough, and I had my surgery. Dr. Now was a jerk to this guy. Compared to other patients who got approved.
You should now that surgery is a major demand on a patients heart. Especially for obese patients because their heart already has to pump more blood to provide supplies for their increased metabolism in their huge bodies. What is shown here might give the impression that just loosing weight does it all. Behind the scenes a thorough cardiac evaluation is performed to verify if the patient can actually take the surgery.
I’ve always had problems with blood pressure and I’m of a normal weight and go for eh gym every other day.
I always tell my doctor, if my BP shoots up and I road bike, lift, scuba dive, play soccer….how the hell are these guys on 600lb life still alive!?
I had a stroke at 54. Not overweight, no high BP, very low cholesterol, a BMI of 22. "Idiopathic". So yeah - I don't understand how someone 700lbs is still breathing.
@@jff1813 Genetics.
My blood pressure spikes when I move. Just getting into the doctor's office and to the exam room will make it spike 40 points. It took quite a few visits before I could could convince them to take my BP just before I leave. When they do that, my BP is OK. All of my life, my heart has over-reacted to any cardio-anything (weight-lifting and labor for work didn't trigger the intense beating), even when I was young and healthy.
No wonder he looked scared to see the doc!! From The jump bro said “so your moping around doing nothing all day”
Imagine hoping your weight loss has been so successful you're merely 600 something pounds.
3:00 Dr Now walks in... Buggs Bunny (sorry, David) asks 'what's up doc?'
The patient got some nice hair 😍
"I just hope I'm in the 600's". 😮
David doesn't need food. He has more than enough body fat to sustain him. Drinking only vitamin water and fresh greens is the answer...salads....NO CARBS. He can do it. 🤗🤗
"What's up, Doc?"
They just need someone that knows how to cook vegetables really good ❤ Come to the south and get some collard greens and neckbone. Well put you on a vegetables and meat diet. Find a field for you to work in throughout the day or work with the animals. Some people just need a change of environment to help motivate them to loose weight.
Yes the south is known for its healthy food.
@@The_Not_So_Great_Cornholio Sure, the 'idea' of the south is fat and fried, but the true southern people, know it's about keeping it simple. If you don't steam it, boil it, if not boiled, roasted. Little bit of salt, maybe, maybe a little butter. I was raised southern, we ate healthy as the animals we kept. We were big people from birth, but healthy nonetheless.
❤❤❤
The longer you cook a vegetable, the fewer nutrients it provides. I'm gonna bet money neckbone and hamhock ain't on Dr. Now's 1200 calorie diet plan.
@@spriggy4382 Neckbone is only for thanksgiving and it's for gravy. Now hammhock, that is for beans and collards. Old school south right there. My kind of south was always lean meats and roasted veggies. Or steamed, whatever was easiest at the time.
I struggled with my weight for years and have been surrounded by many people like me.
I also have known a number of drug addicts and alcoholics.
I find there to be many similarities between those who abuse food & those who abuse drugs.
His "Mom" enables him.
A mothers love can ruin or flourish
That’s not how you use quotes.
@@Justin-pe9cl So teach us.
@@historyloveriii2949 You use quotes when your quoting someone or something. When you put “mom” in quotes you’re implying she isn’t his mother.
@@Justin-pe9cl No shyte Sherlock! Sarcasm was lost on you.
What I don’t understand is if they can lose the weight without surgery, why have surgery? 🙏
Because they need the surgery because they too obese they going have a lot of extra skin so the surgery helps with the weight loss and extra screen that he going have from losing the weight
When you're as big as they are your stomach is severely stretched out leaving you actually to feel hungry. What doctor now does is he gives them goals to hit just to show that they can do it without the surgery but they'll get a little extra help with the sleeve @@litodat233
We all carry baggage.
Very true! Sometimes it is also visible to the outside, but mostly not.
I'm not going to try to Judge anyone because I'm not God and no one knows what is going to happen in their life.
Yes indeed😮
I'm sorry but I can't understand how someone gets like this?
Usually it has some emotional, physical or mental pain behind it & it’s an addiction like alcohol, drugs & smoking
@lilacscentedfushias1852 You certainly have an accurate understanding of this situation. How do people become addicted to drugs, alcohol, and tobacco?

Trauma of some sort
THIS QUESTION. Most people can feel 10lbs added to their body. This is f**kin extreme. He’s had his fair share of enablers
She must be helping him shame
These disorders are more psychological traumas and unresolved emotional issues from childhood etc...rather than criticism we could just wish him good wishes ...only a hoarder knows what went wrong and a depressed person knows what depression is and so does someone struggling financially ...working long hours and yet having to go to food banks ...
Well said. Your words of wisdom means a lot to troubled people. Thank you. 😊
@@asafaust8869 not at all been there can understand first hand how it feels and how uncertain and scary things can seem and add to it the judgement ...take care
If he continued like this, he could cut all the weight he wants without surgery
The surgery removes parts of the stomach that became stretched out due to overeating. After the surgery, someone is not nearly as capable of eating at the level they did, and they will start to shed the weight extremely fast since they are not ingesting the amount of calories needed to sustain such a large weight.
However, they are addicted to food and a successful surgery requires a lifestyle switch or they’ll re-stretch their stomach out & regain the weight.
That’s why he has them lose weight on their own first - to prove they are motivated enough to not overeat. But they need to shed weight fast or they will die, hence the surgery.
They probably could lose the weight without it but it would be much harder without the smaller stomach & take a lot longer.
Is he drinking soda?
How do these ppl afford to eat like that? I don't have money issues and I couldn't afford to eat like that!
The enablers always look shocked by the weight on the scale. .🤔🤔
3:01 What´s up duck?:)
It’s short for “doc”
Quaaack 😂
I hate when Dr Now asks why their eating habits r like this all they do is make excuses!!!
I love it when Dr. Now doesn’t take crap from these whiny professional victims on government benefits because of their laziness. 😂😂😂
Jerk.
Who is paying for all the food? That would have to be expensive.
Depression. Causes. It.
@@rosariodagosto6484 anger too
Man how do u gain 38 pounds when u supposed to be losing
He gave this guy alot of chances. Maybe he felt sorry for his circumstances.
He was correct in doing so. David lost 515 lbs so far (as of 6/2024)
I winder why they didnt repair the hernia? Seems odd.
Hiatal hernia surgery has an abysmal success rate; even for young, healthy, fit people. It was an educated risk/benefit analysis, I would think.
How the heck did he come out of that small woman?
Do you think she gave birth to him fully grown and obese? 😅
I believe it said she was his foster mother.
Can't use standard hospital chairs in waiting room... maybe shud use animal stalls
You're obnoxious.
That is where they are now???
Sorry to hear this 😢
i feel bad for him cause he has my name
Keep giving him the food mom????
He's mobile, he can get it on his own
He should be eating healthy foods and exercise more and not think of his past. Buy healthy foods and exercise more.
This poor man. Let's hope they can figure out why he is so overweight.
Oh, I think they know why he’s overweight.
/s
Spoiler alert, he eats too much.
😢
This is sad
❤
Sorry, but he looks exactly the same before & after, like no change at all...
Это же надо так ужраться!
If they could lose weight on their own they wouldn't be here, because I'm sure he's tried before.
But they don't want veggies
That a boy. Keep doing the right thing.
They just stuff themselves.
His mom is irritating …… a disgrace.
He looks like a huge Chumlee
That’s what I was thinkin
Is that his wife or mother? Her smirky smile is pure evil. She's his feeder, and she probably doesn't want him to be independent or healthy.
Instead of shrinking people's stomachs, why not go in and cut off all the excess fat and loose skin when that fat is cut off?
If you really want to save someone's life, HELP them out instead of leaving it all up to them, ESPECIALLY as people get older because sometimes as you age, it CAN be HARDER to lose weight
Removing fat and skin is a huge strain on anyone's heart. If they're diet is not improving going into the surgery, they will have a heart attack and die.
That would likely kill them. Even with liposuction they are only able to remove a little bit of fat in one procedure.
Bruh u clearly not a doctor that’s the dumbest shit ever to do
^That and it doesn't fix the core issues they won't have their eating habits changed and it'll just give him a reason to start the process again
Get over your past. You’re no longer a child. The “ Past “ is just that “ Past “ over , done, quit living in your history. Live in your present and plan your future.
Sometimes easier said than done. Debilitating depression and PTSD is very real.
Says someone who has never had to deal with issues.
Easier said than done , Thank god you have apparently never had in horrible trauma on your life.
@andraclark9993 exactly. Big hugs darling ❤️🩹🫶
Dr. Now is such an awful guy. I really can't stand him
You may think that, but he'd just be brutally honest to these obese people as they need to here the truth.
To me Dr Now himself seems to be pretty flabby and unhealthy. It’s honestly uncomfortable for me to look at him. Thinking he should take some if his own advice.
Don't be so rude! He will turn 80 in 2 months and he does not look unhealthy, a bit overweight but who is not in the US?
He's barely fat, much less obese.
That David guy is a dead ringer for chumlee from pawn stars.
Did anyone notice how the bed moved when he was getting in 😂😂😂
You’re the type that laughs when somebody trips & falls. Are ya 5?
Playing tuba for fat walking in front of you is funneh too
Did anyone notice how the building moved when he came in
