Since I was like 3 up till I was about 8 or 9 I was absolutely obsessed with dinosaurs and nature. I'm 18 now and find myself gravitating back towards my dreams of paleontology
I’m literally in the same boat. Loved dinosaurs from when I was about 3-10 and then stopped thinking about them. Now I’m almost 19 and starting college and I think I’m going to study paleontology
Completely random fact: It’s not just humans who are right or left-handed. Most female cats prefer using their right paw and males are more likely to be left-pawed.
I often think about the goldmine of fossils that must be underneath Antarctica's ice. Also, imagine if we find fossils of bacteria on Mars when we go there! It's a super exciting time for geology and paleontology, I can't wait to see what we discover in our lifetime.
There really isn't much evidence to support the idea of Pangea. Beside the computer models designed to complete the puzzle by forcing pieces, that is. Earth's topography and the fossil record are more thoroughly and accurately explained by the idea of a sudden global cataclysm. In all likelihood the catalyst was multiple asteroid impacts in the Pacific ocean region, although I suppose large enough nukes or some other unknown phenomenon could have been responsible as well. In any case the event triggered global mega-tsunamis which completely reshaped the Earth's topography and biosphere to what we see today. This idea offers a thorough, logically consistent explanation for the evidence we see all around the world, which is considerably more than I can say for the tangled web modern science has woven.
Humans share more than 50 percent of their genetic information with plants and animals in general. And 96 percent with apes. So theory is basically not true
The argument exists until humans can handle the ancient truths of Genetic Engineering by extraterrestrial beings. What, you really think we are the first beings to figure GE out?
It has been this ongoing quest to know more about the existence of these per-historic creatures we know Dinosaurs; that we have come this far to know about the. Fascinating!
Yup the only places where dinosaurs can't be found at are the north pole and Oceania islands and the philippines. they emerged way after the extinction of dinos
Depends. Larger dinosaurs like _Triceratops,_ _Edmontosaurus,_ or _Tyrannosaurus_ tend to have scaly pebbly skin as adults, similar to modern rhinos and elephants, though they may have been fuzzy when they were younger like modern bird chicks. Smaller theropods like _Velociraptor_ or _Oviraptor_ had feathers or fuzz and looked like modern birds. They were probably quite colorful too. We will never really be sure about the actual appearances of many of them. So many things are not preserved by fossilization, so the best we can do is make an estimate based on comparisons with modern animals as well as phylogenetic bracketing where we assume the appearance of a dinosaur based on what we know of the appearance of their closest ancestors and descendants. For all we know, _Tyrannosaurus_ may have had a mohawk and wattles like turkeys. These things usually aren't preserved in fossils.
Yes, and in the words of Hank Green in Scishow's episode on the Mesozoic Era, "If you've ever fed a chicken nugget that's shaped like a dinosaur to a child, that's a weird experience. That's a whole strange thing."

Not really. You can prove that birds have descended from dinosaurs. Believing they were created on the 5th day and have no relation to any other class of organism, however...
I'm truly perplexed... How is it that in one week NatGeo posts so many conflicting videos? Like it has few different editors-in-chief. Google Sinosauropteryx and Anchiornis. We know (yes, actually know) the type of feathers and even colours those tiny dinosaurs had.

No. Dinosaurs are Diapsida, mammals are Synapsida. We're in completely separated lineages of the Ammiota group. Rhinoceros aren't "rhino saurus".
