    Not Tech related, but Adam Savage did a bag dump video once and he mentioned he carries a spoon. A metal spoon will come in handy if you need to eat and don't have or want plastic. It will roll through security with no problem and you can eat about anything with at least a spoon. I carry one and it has been handy on more than one occasion.

      Thats not a terrible idea. I have a couple titanium backpacking spoons that I could easily toss in my bag, I'm always angry about plastic silverware when traveling.

    In addition to my MacBook Air 13" ... I really like taking my Apple Keyboard and Mouse. They are both extremely thing and are very light. When at a foreign office most places have loaner desks and monitors in my experience so having a great keyboard is awesome. Also, I stuff a couple disposable (though environmentally friendly) spoons, forks and straws in my backpack. And agreed on the AirPods Pro ... those are essential.

    The "Anker GaNPrime 65W Charging Station, 615 USB C Power Strip for Travel" is a powerstrip with an extension cable that wraps up on itself. It is super easy to pack away and perfect for hotel rooms where the power outlet is never in the right spot.

    Hey man get you an Apple Watch something simple like the 2nd gen SE is what I have. Totally makes my life easier on the road. I don’t even have cellular data on it, it’s like a mini iPhone on my watch that I can use on the fly. That gets most of the use, especially with tracking my workouts. It’s a must. Also the apple mouse! I’m looking into the air tags

    Your advice is absolutely spot on, except for one possible point of contention: IMHO, the absolute best travel laptop is the M2 MBA 13. The one item you listed that I don't carry is that wifi router --- I need to look into one of those.

    • @TheEverydayDad
      @TheEverydayDad  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I went back and forth on the 13 vs 15 MBA. I agree the 13 is smaller but I've really come to enjoy the extra screen space for not too much more weight of the 15.

    As a backpack, I use AER travel pro 3 - the greatest backpack I ever had. It even has a place for an AirTag. In it, I have a table that sucks to a window - DeskView. But also affordable meditation bench from decathlon. So I can work standing or sitting with a desk anywhere I want - even in the airport.

    I'd switch the notebook for a Kindle Scribe (Apple Pencil + iPad isn't even close IMO) but otherwise that's a great set up. Selling my 14" MBP M2 Max for the 15" MBA and I'll be full set up. I carry around a 12.9" iPad Pro when I'm away for longer periods primarily for Sidecar and the streaming apps.
    So my set up ends up being: 15" MBA, Kindle Scribe (sometimes),12.9" iPad Pro (sometimes), iPhone 14 Pro, AirPods Pro 2nd Gen, Baseus Blade HD 100W battery (awesome form factor), Samsung 65W GaN charger, screen wipe12.9" iPad Pro, Portapow data blocking USB cable/adapter for emergencies. Detol wipes for cleaning tray tables, hands, stains off of clothes - kept in a ziplock to ensure no leakage, mask for when someone near me is clearly ill.

    Agree! MBA 15 was amazing on my last vacation, I work remote and I took it to a mall cafeteria, the gym, the pool, a restaurant, so easily. I actually earned even more money just because it’s more portable than my MBP 16. I also agree with the AirPods Pro, works just as good as big headphones. I find that big headphones are only good for flights 5+ hours. Other than that for general listening while travelling + work, doesn’t make sense to lug around a headsets. One thing I recommend is to get a chest strap bag for traveling. Keep all docs in there, water, my MagSafe charger, AirPods, gum, and keys. I find it comforting to have all these always within reach, and not up in the luggage compartment when flight attendants force you to put it up and god knows what happens when you sleep
