My favorite flips are the "rescues" ---- it's why I stopped on your channel to watch what you did to make this a beautiful piece! Every moment of the love spent on this one was worth it (imo)!
What a wonderful rescue of an old, very sad piece of furniture. Now it's a very stately, handsome piece.
That piece was headed for the landfill before you rescued it. What a wonderful transformation. You turned a pathetic dresser into a piece that will bring someone else years of happiness to their home. Really great job.
What a wonderful transformation! And it really took a heart warming turn when you gifted this stunner piece to your good friend. ❤️ Sometimes, it isn’t about money but instead, doing what was right for the chest. The added plus was your friend was the lucky recipient…lovely solution! Wins all around. 🤗
Wow, beautiful transformation! I love it! So nice when you can rescue a piece from the trash and so awesome that you gifted it to your friend! ♥
I LOVED what you did with this set of drawers!! It looks beautiful. Yes, you spent so much more time on it than you should have but oh, what a bonus that was. I’m sure the couple that you gifted it to will treasure it. 👏👍🥰
I feel like I need to say that I absolutely love the feet. The piece is lovely now and you are magic. Beautiful❤
Thank you so much for sharing your trial and error. I learn so much from people like you. And you are right, they are not all profitable but what we learn along the way is invaluable.
Thanks for the feedback! Sometimes it’s humbling to share, but I hope it helps someone else
You are a miracle worker! It turned out great! You also have patience with pieces like this! So very kind of you to gift this piece! God bless you! ❤
Love it! What an transformation👏. The gold on the feets made it look even better. Great rescue!
It's nice to see someone do the right thing when refinishing a wood piece. Great job!
The paint scraping is always so satisfying to watch 😍 love the transformation!
Really beautiful. Love the gilded feet. All the little touches make it!
And generosity is the best. As a newbie I can't yet afford to give away and most probably wouldn't want it anyway😂
Awe, I love that you were able to gift this work of love to someone you love. So, you have officially got me properly loving these pieces- I just picked up my first set of campaign nightstands- all you girl! I’m so excited 👏 I typically stick to the classic vintage mcm pieces. But the lines on these are so clean and that brassware against a beautiful navy or black- I’m so here for it!! It was also good to hear you talk about the profit margins and time delegations. I’ll admit I’m still spending too much time with every piece, I’ve got to make some adjustments. So that was helpful to hear. You’re flippin awesome ;)
Oh yeah, campaign pieces are so classic! I’m so glad you are liking them too! 🤩
Good luck with your piece. Yes, I need to heed my own advice on the profit side of things. 🥴
I'm so glad you never gave up on this piece. You put so much love into it and gifted it to a friend. ❤
My gosh, you are such a workhorse, you take on projects that are so challenging. You are my hero! Great job on this project. I love your videos.
Wow!
I love campaign style furniture, too (and I, too, have a husband who says, "Tell me again why you need this...") The red and blue paint remind me of the tempera paints we used in second grade. I love what you did with this chest; the black is so dramatic, and the base and gilded feet are perfect.
Wow, that was truly a labor of love. Very motivating how you kept at every little difficulty. It was worth it, it turned out beautifuly and how awesome that you could gift it to someone special!!
I absolutely love the Tricorn Black, and I'm also loving the Cracked Pepper color too!
Wow! What patience dealing with those drawers and what a beautiful result. I love that you said even though it wasn't profitable to do so- you couldn't help but make the base and add the gold touches - I totally get it-!
What a great gift, the dresser looks beautiful! You did such a nice job! ❤😅🎉
You are a miracle worker! That piece is so beautiful. Well done. Yes sometimes the rescues are important too, to save them. I love that it ended up being a gift to a dear friend. Applause!
Absolutely gorgeous piece. 🤩 You are a true artist. Getting inspiration from other forms of art leads to endless possibilities.
What a very lucky dresser! Definitely was just horrendous paint job…and desperately needed a rescue. To top it all off it was a great learning piece with the trouble shooting and all the drawer issues. The base really changed it completely. It seems it was destined to go to a special place…and it did! Job well done!
I ended up with a very sad chest of drawers that had been in an a once beautiful barn that leaked. ( barn was dismantled for its rescue). My other half was taking the the contents of the barn and old house to the dump in his dump truck. But he brought that chest of drawers home. Looked it up and found one that was used selling on a high end site for over 3000! I got it stripped (its paint saved it) but the bottom sat in wet hay and had wood worms. I now, after a year, have it upside down and am now contemplating what I am going to do! So this video has helped in getting me to started. I don’t do furniture to sell but most of what we have I have is not new! And we had to rebuild part of our house and aren’t quite finished! The old part was a 2 room 1886 schoolhouse and I think they must have served a lot of alcohol when they put it up!
What a lovely rescue! I learn so much from your videos. I call you the wood wizard! Anyway, fabulous job on something I’m sure in my frustration I would have put in the fire pit! And bless your heart for gifting it. ❤️
Aw, thanks Lisa! I learn something new on each project. People think I have so much patience, but honestly, I think working on furniture has taught me to be more patient. 😅
So lovely. I think you could have sold that for profit because it’s gorgeous and quite neutral.
I like the ‘ look’ of it. The gold trims dressed it up nicely. I was a bit concerned when I saw the red. Omgosh.
good job! This came out really well. I do not like to strip furniture and then repaint it but you made a good case as to why it was the best choice with this piece. You did a good thing by gifting it to a good friend.
That first stripping agent you used really was super strong back in the day! It ate through my gloves, around 18 years ago, and it turned my skin into rubber 😂 now, good luck getting it to remove fingernail polish from tile 🤣
@@ivylaneinteriors best on the market! It would strip the paint off the floors in our warehouse like it was child's play!
Love your revamped chest of drawers and the fact you made it a gift to a friend!
You are so patient lol. I think I would have chunked it in the trash after all the hard work when the drawers were giving you fits. Wonderful rescue!
@@ivylaneinteriors I probably would've said a few choice words too! You did a fabulous job on it!
Wow!!! I was agreeing with your husband on this...WHY? Glad you didn't listen to us. 😊 Bless you for gifting it to a person that loved it. You are truly amazing.
Thinking that might have been a tempura paint? Love your channel. Please keep up the great work. ❤❤
Felicidades gracias por enseñarnos e visto varios trabajos y todos transformados
SMH You just couldn't help yourself and take your own advice! Building the base and blinging the feet totally wasn't necessary, but it looks so good!!! :) Whoever painted that in the first place really ruined it, thanks for saving it. Gifting it to your friend makes it all worthwhile. Thanks for sharing your solutions for the drawers, they can be such a bugger...
Oh, I know! 🤦♀️ Sometimes I can’t help myself. 😬 Gifting it to my friend made it all worth it though 🤩
Vai ficar uma belezura de restauração. Parabéns 👏👏👏🎈🎈🎈 Sucesso 🎇🎇🎇 SEMPRE 👏💐💐💐
Give you five! I really do appreciate that you tried, and managed to, save this piece that gave you so much trouble. I was hoping that you could bring it back to wood, but when I saw you struggling, I was glad you came up with a new idea. The result was amazing. And the feet!😊 I want to ask you something. Why didn’t you try to use your scraper from the start, before all the chemical stuff? If it is charp it often works very well on painted flat surfaces. And it saves both money and time. And, I don’t think you’re a bad person, trying to be cost-efficient, I’ve seen so much worse in this business! So overall, I really liked you, and what you do.❤
I use my scraper a lot, but it’s also a lot of work. 🫠
Thanks! 😊
With respect to the "before" condition of this piece, the previous owner should have paid you to take it away instead of charging you for it. Glad it turned out so well and that it went to a good home :)
(p.s. that little vanity bench in the background of your staging footage at the end is so cute! I hope there is a video on what you did with that piece!)
Ha! When my husband saw it he did wonder why I was paying for it. 🤣
I’m still not finished with that little bench. I haven’t found the right fabric to reupholster the seat so it just keeps getting moved around the garage. 😬🙄😊🙌🏼
What an unbelievable transformation! Just wish you showed the full view a little longer on the revels
It definitelly looks better then before 😉 How would you rate the difficulty of making the base? I'd like to try it myself soon and I'm quite unsure about the idea.
Thanks Nina! This base is super simple but I think it really elevates the look. I would rate it beginner level skill set if you have a pocket hole jig.
@@ivylaneinteriors Yup! Got one a few months back 😁 I'll try to tackle the base next weekend - wish me luck 😉
Always use wood glue when screwing wood together. Also, you might want to just buy yourself a small miter saw. Won’t cost much and I think it will make you happier.
Great job. Do you mind sending the link for the rollers that you use that you order online? Thank you so much
Thanks! Sure. This is my Amazon affiliate link: amzn.to/40iizDx You can also find them at Fusion Mineral Paint distributors
👏👏👏👏👏👏 Brazil 🇧🇷🇧🇷🇧🇷🇧🇷🇧🇷🇧🇷🇧🇷🇧🇷 Parabéns sucesso belo trabalho 😅😅😅
It would be nice to have something on the feet to help move without damaging the floor.
I usually add felt pads for my own furniture, but I let the new owners decide what they want to use because some people have carpet and some people have wood floors.
@ivylaneinteriors I have just moved furniture in my living room. And some of it was very heavy pieces. They were to heavy to lift to put those moving pads under. Let's say I don't plan to rearrange any time soon.
In hindsight, Would it have been easier to stain the new bottom and legs before you attached it?
Could you not just “flip” the red drawer over???
Well, there was a groove in the face of the drawer, so I don’t think it could be flipped. Plus it was dovetailed.
BEAUTIFUL..
WONDERFUL INSPIRING ARTIST.
SOMEDAY I WILL
REFO A RESCUE.
THANK YOU 😅😅😅
Very heart-warming how you transformed this dresser from an ugly duckling into a beautiful swan! It was time well-spent!
Agreed! 🫶
