The passing game looks so easy for Lamar when the pocket is clean and the routes are run well. Credit to Monken and the OL in progress and of course Lamar and the receivers.
Lamar's improvision skill is crazy. He throws the defense off-balance when he gets outside the pocket and draws his receivers open. Legit artistry lol Also, Bate is starting to get great at adjusting mid play to meet LJ wherever he wants to go. They're clicking at the right time.. Get Tez more reps this Saturday to get him more comfortable
I know we want to say "it's just the giants," but don't forget, they played 13 other games. In no other game this season have they given up more than 30 points. We also stopped trying to run the score up in the 4th quarter. It's not as impressive as beating a contender, but it's just more evidence that our offense is a top 3 unit in the league.
I know this is a cynical way at looking at things but, This is one of our games that can be looked at a set back. You may be asking how can a win be a setback? Well because it gives our coaches, practically our head coach, faux ammo to claim that their off-season offensive line choices...were the right choices. But...they are not. Basically, there has been a pattern of false hope that these guards are good enough and it comes against average to below average defensive lines. It's no coincidence that we got better play out of them when a guy like Dexter Lawrence wasn't out there. But all of our loses and lower offensive production games come from teams with above average D-lines with elite players. Chris Jones, Maxx Crosby, Myles Garret, TJ watt & Cam Heyward and Jalen carter & the rest of that eagles line tbh. Our guard play is a weak link that can easily be exploited with the right talent and unfortunately is enough of a weak link that while we can beat anybody...we also can lose to anybody, including the raiders and browns. Will we see a different outcome if TJ Watt can't play this week...most likely but depending on players being injured for us to win is not a recipe for success. This has just been a failed experiment, and our coaches refuse to move on from it. It is not an experiment that can't work, in fact we just played a team where it has resulted in a massive success where they turned a guy who has been a Tackle his entire career (Meckhi Becton) into a really good guard. The difference is Becton's obvious advantages can make up for his disadvantages. It's actually uncanny how similar Faalele and Becton are on paper...but that's where the similarities end. Unlike Faalele, Becton's Size and power actually show up in a big way. Also, his footwork and foot quickness from being a tackle actually translate when playing the guard position. Meanwhile all the things you would think would be advantages like being big/strong for Faalele don't show up, but all of his downsides (unathletic, slow physically and slow at processing) remains and is even more exploited as a guard. And on the other side we have Mekari who is just not starting material. He has all the football IQ needed, but his physical traits unfortunately are what drags him down. His low functional strength, short arms, lack of foot speed and etc...makes it hard for him to keep up with better talent on the other side of the ball. And this shows up most with his league leading penalties caused by just not being to hold blocks against more physically gifted guys. You would think with a coach like Harbaugh where being a disciplined player is a top priority...would lead to Mekari being benched, especially with who we have behind him on the depth chart, yet he has refused to make the change. At this point... I can only conclude that it's his pride getting in the way.
Really no argument against what you are saying. The OLine has generally looked better against the weaker DLines, that is clear. Versus the top of the line Defenses, our interior OLine struggles. Rosengarten is a really impressive Rookie RT though. Nothing like our Guard situation.
My only gripe with the positive work is the Giants were 2-11 they not that good and they best defensive players didn’t play. It’s easy to look good against them. We didn’t play down to them which is good, I’ll feel better if we play well this well against the Steelers.
who cares about their record we lost to the damn raiders, a win in this fashion is good for morale and confidence. Lamar had 5 tds against the bucs also so its not like he can only do this against bad teams.

I agree. If we can clean up both Guards ,we will go all the way.

A winning formula is keeping our qb clean. His fastball looks marvelous lol.
some would say lamarvelous

Agree. Good point.
The O-line and Kicker go be your weakest links!

Agreed. We beat an arena league team

If we get decent pass pro, i dont think many teams can dral with ys
But how often is any QB given that clean pocket ? Lamar has had time this year as much as can be expected of a qb
“Verticality”?
Leftover basketball term. My bad. LoL. Just the horizontal and vertical threat that we can offer now.
@ lol I get it I just giggled at that word, I love the breakdowns
