    When your main gameplay loop revolves around platforming you need solid controls for it to be fun. Hearing people say "awkward and floaty" is an instant 'do not buy'. Granted this could be fixed with patching. Shame really, the game looked charming.

    • @marcosfidelis4171
      @marcosfidelis4171 3 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      I would still not recommend a game that has been patched post release, because it's a bad dev habit. I get that games take a lot of time to make, but I personally consider this complacency, even if it takes a lot things have to be planned accordingly.

    Such a pity, that this game just isn't bigger with more to do. With the way the world looks it's a place I would love to spend hours and hours in, just doing more engaging things than the game offers.
    As far as I know it's by a single dev though so I guess it was always gonna be too ambitious for its breeches.

    • @Zand3rParkour
      @Zand3rParkour 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I think there is some merit to having a simple platformer in today's world where games are often over saturated with shit to do. However, for a game with a simple gameplay loop -like platforming- to shine it needs to have tight controls at the very least, and preferably an interesting narrative to carry it along. Look at games like Firewatch, which have very little "gameplay" by most standards but is kinda a cult classic thanks to its story.
      This game is just missing anything compelling while being further held down by grind. I agree with the reviews that the rich visuals fall flat without being capitalized on in narrative.

  • @rumotu

    The idea behind is great, so is art. I believe they need to find a better programmer and some animator plus a writer so far it looks like a students project or a game pitch.

    • @Kadori328
      @Kadori328 3 ปีที่แล้ว

  • @AloisAgos
    @AloisAgos 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    Talk about a rough review. I played the game to its fullest and I honestly enjoyed the game a lot. Not to say some of your points weren't valid. The story is far from on par with the visuals and the controls were a little floaty, but workable. But your points about having little reason to engage with the game and getting lost I feel misses the entire point of the game. It's supposed to be a laid back exploration platformer that you can explore at your leisure without threat, and getting lost is part of the whole experience. The game is still far from perfect and could have benefited from more time in the oven. It's a rough gem at best, but hardly the jagged rock you are painting it to be.

    Disheartening .
    I was really looking forward to Tasomachi since months before it came out . I absolutely loved the art style and the concept looked good , hoped it could have been similar to Journey somehow albeit in its own unique way . Then when the game actually came out and I saw everyone's reviews and the gameplay videos I decided not to buy it . I still come back to search for whether things have changed or not from time to time but I haven't seen many encouraging news .

  • @luciafantin

    I had fun for the first two areas but then the emptiness and repetitiveness of the game started to be more obvious, everything looks the same and when the platform challenges become harder the poor and awkward jumps become quite annoying and the task of collecting the lamps is very tedious and I got tired and bored. I really enjoyed the art and music tho and found the game entertaining for the first hour and a half, so I don't regret trying it out at least. But that's just me.

  • @marcosfidelis4171
    @marcosfidelis4171 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    The thing that really stuck out to me in this review is the first moment you said the controls were floaty and imprecise. A platformer doesn't exactly need combat, if you can make the act of going around fun, with something like parkour and movement skills, add a kind of time trial in worlds/cities to incentivize players to mess around with the skills and an interesting terrain so it's equally as challenging to get somewhere as it would be with combat, kind of like Celeste, but in this case 3D.
