This video was beautiful, the creamy beige backdrop, the white shirt, the gold accessories, the cute simple hair, the classy type, the soft lighting, and best of all the beautiful Allana herself
The"ball" or circle thing on the cap is for us who struggle opening caps. I have Lupus too. Tho mine attacks all internally, hers is more focused on the kidney. One of our struggles is arthritis as the immune system attack our joints so much. There would be days I couldn't walk or everything felt like swollen and couldn't move or painful (which is everyday). Lupus is an autoimmune disease. In layman's term, our immune system is sooooooo active that instead of just fighting illnesses or viruses and bacterias, it also attacks healthy cells and our organs. I just had an operation last month as it attacked my GI. I am in pain every damn day, so having this is so thoughtful. This may be weird looking to others but it will help us a lot. Something that will help us and make us feel beautiful is a plus!
I have an autoimmune condition as well and have joint issues from time to time, and can appreciate the struggle! I hope your surgery recovery is going well! 💗
pretty sure this is just a rumor started by a fan and there was no design element for folks with arthritis, it is just aesthetic. if you have a link to a official statement regarding this, i would love to read it and have that be true. - someone else with arthritis
if this were true it would be huge and definitely a marketing point that would have been included in the paper that comes in the PR package and would have been mentioned in most of these videos
I have a feeling the brow pencil is so pigmented and soft to help people with arthritis to use less pressure in their hands to draw on their brows. I don't have arthritis, but looking at this collection from someone who does struggle with pain on their body part they use the most, I cna see why she chose to keep it pigmented. This whole new beauty line really open my perspective to those who are less fortunate and are struggling with things that I don't even think twice about every single day, which is one of the biggest reason I really love her brand
I second that. I also deal with chronic pain and arthritis and I never made the connection to pigmentation, but it’s totally true. I usually veer towards urban decay’s pencil/pen when I’m in pain because it just glides on and requires less struggle. As much as I appreciate it, I honestly think the pigmentation was even more important for deeper skin tones and I’m so so happy to see that. I’m pale as paper, so I know I’m going to struggle with the blushes, but I really don’t mind. I’d much rather deal with that issue than see an entire group of people isolated from enjoying these products. Actually, I know Allana didn’t like the highlight shades, but I’m thrilled because there actually is finally a shade light enough for me. I think the pigmentation is one of the biggest strengths of the line for the color products. I have yet to try complexion but everything looks kind of yellow toned so I’m a little nervous. If anyone else has gotten the opportunity to try them, let me know how they worked out for you!
Color pop seems to have softer brow mechanicals if anyone is looking for a less expensive option. Really good point @Celine 👍🏻 another creator said the brow pencil seemed to just melt in without needing much blending. Seems like magic for arthritis 👍🏻👍🏻
I’ve been wearing the foundation and it’s PERFECT for oilier skin types and us girls with redness that don’t like thick formulas. My fav thing is that it actually dries down and doesn’t wipe off every time I touch my face. I also wear glasses and it didn’t get all over them like other products. I think if you have combo to oily this is a great everyday foundation. And I did get the powder compact cuz i get a little to glowy (sweaty 😅) and I actually think it’s worth it if your looking for a good on the go powder.
@@gal5402 she never uses filter but i gotta say we can't really judge a foundation from afar because it always looks great anyway, I'd have loved a close up
I gotta say, I tried the foundation three times and each time, it looked good from far but up close it looked textured?? It was weird but I would describe it as dewy and natural but up close it looked weird.
i LOVE this type of video. i'm honestly glad you had a filming disaster (sorry!!) because first impressions aren't very helpful? it's very rarely i feel like where someone will be like "i don't like this at all" so first impressions are just kind of: everything is okay, because i haven't seen how it wears, how it'll look after it dries down (like the highlighter), etc. i'm here for SECOND impressions like this video!!
I haven’t tried the foundation yet but I was wondering that you maybe should shake it before using it (I am pretty sure it has a little ball inside too) and that will make the texture less sandy if that makes sense
Honestly comparing the Nars Liquid Blush to the Rare Beauty Soft Pinch Liquid Blush is apples to oranges. The Rare Beauty is more of a cream, not a liquid (why did they call it that?), and it’s much more pigmented. They only take one to two dots per cheek and will last forever. The Nars Liquid Blush is extremely thin and I find I go through it quickly if I’m using it regularly. Water is the second ingredient, while the Rare Beauty blush has no water and is much more concentrated. I think they’re both great products and worth the price. You just can’t always compare products on price per ounce because their compositions are so different.
I agree, for the rare beauty blushes you only need the smallest dab so a little goes a long way. There are other liquid blushes where I need to use 4-5 times the amount to get the same color payoff
also don't know if you already know this but apparently the packaging is disability-friendly as in they are easier to open for people with some disabilities 🥰
I haven’t tried the products but I absolutely love what they’re doing with the line. What they’re donating money to, but especially how they made the packaging arthritis friendly. I loved Jamie’s moms review on it because she could really speak to how helpful the packing and some of the products’ formulas were for her. That said, I was waiting for this video to come out! Lots of love Lan ❤️
Idk man all the review titles for this brand scare me lol. They sound so skeptical and pointed like "is rare beauty REALLY worth the hype?" Like chillout with those titles lol
Honestly couldn't stop staring at all your gold jewels! They're all so pretty, you're practically shining!! 🤩🤩🤩 I started to build a small collection of gold rings and necklaces coz I was inspired by you through the years. Much love from the Philippines! ❤❤❤
Just a comment on hydrating primers: if you need primers to be more hydrating, that points to a lack of moisture in your skincare routine. IMO, the skin should be hydrated enough for makeup without a primer. I know Allana loves her skin care routine and it can be hard to find daytime moisturizers that aren’t too heavy. I would recommend a moisturizer and a hydrating spf.
I feel like the puff is misunderstood. In my opinion it is meant to be used once your face is shiny from excess oils and not to set in makeup. So as a dry gal I feel like I wouldn't see much of anything either because it is not a setting powder. But people with oily(er) skin may really like the combo during the day to first blot away some oil and then use the puff to smooth things out without making to skin look dry where the puff lands, since there are some light reflecting particles in the powder.
I have combination skin and I hate that idea. I'd rather just have a powder in a compact when on the go so I can control how much powder I'm using to touch up and so I could clean the puff/brush that I'm applying it with. I feel like that touch up set is the weakest product in the line. You can make blotting sheets out of baking paper yourself or just get them from the drugstore. I don't know why anyone would buy this really.
Foundation looked beautiful even though you weren't that keen. Would you consider doing an up close foundation application? Anna did a up close video and it really let us see "real" skin and Foundation application. Love as always 😘
As for the no compact thing, I know the reason she made the foundation, concealer and blush in tubes. Selena has lupus, which causes joint pain, amongst other things, and the little balls on the top of the packaging is meant to help people with joint pain open the product easier with their palms. And they've already said that they have an eyeshadow palette in the works for the near future. Maybe they will do a bronzer too?
Thank you for the honest review! I felt like some influencers were brushing past the fact that they didn’t like some of the formulas but you didn’t! Seriously appreciate that
I wonder if the particles you’re describing when using your hands for the foundation is the pigment? Selena says you have to shake the foundation well first before applying. Wonder if that could be why?
You’re the first person whose Rare review I’ve watched that didn’t rave about everything which makes me think theirs were all sponsored. Thank you for your honesty! Especially on the highlighter!
Brushes are crazy expensive! Agree 👌🏽 I don’t think there’s anything (product) that doesn’t look good on you. You always rock all your looks and give us a gorgeous finished look. Thank you for letting us know your thoughts on this brand. It’s already fall! Where did summer go? Oh that’s right. The Pandemic made it go to time out!
Yay I'm early! (6:35 am in Greece 😂😢) I really wanted to watch this video! Also, I would love a "what my makeup collection would be if I wasn't a TH-camr" (just a recommendation). ❤️❤️
Since I am 56 I feel like a motherly figure watching you and I’m so proud to see the confident reviewer you’ve become. You were really able to discuss the brand objectively with confidence because you know when something is groundbreaking or not. You just seem so all grown up! 😂
I think the makeup sponge was inspired by Selena’s makeup artist Hung Vanngo. I remember in one of your videos you mentioned that he used a makeup forever sponge and I found that sponge very similar to Rare beauty’s sponge.
I’m so glad the Bobbi Brown vitamin enriched face base works for you but it’s designed for normal to oily skin girl and I can’t help but think there’s something better out there for your dry skin😩😩❤️
For Rare Beauty, the reasoning behind Selena’s packaging was so it would be easier for people with mobile disabilities to use her products. She has lupus and it effects her joints. I’m guessing that’s why she hasn’t come out with any compacts (yet). Haven’t figured out a way to make it easily accessible.
Lan looks like a ✨goddess✨in this set up 🤩 I got the concealer, the blushes, highlight and the foundation brush and I’ve been wearing them since the day they came out and I’m very thrilled with them! I also appreciate that the foundation and concealer offers neutral olive undertones! 230n is my perfect color match 😍
I can’t wait for these products to come to the UK - I love the blush colours and you’ve sold me on those pinks. Not something I would usually gravitate towards but they are stunning on you 😍
I love all the products I've bought from Rare so far! There products feel like such beautiful, every day staples that I have integrated into my routine so seamlessly. I'm someone that has shifted away from the "beat to the gods" instagram glam and am more of a "my face but better", glossier stan lol Rare hit the mark for a consumer like me who likes simple, natural beauty products! I also feel good supporting a brand that developed a beautiful and strong mission around destigmatizing mental health and beauty standards. I feel like Rare really stood out because of that and had the products to back it up ❤️
I’d love to see a full face honest beauty skincare and full face honest beauty makeup all in one. I’d like to see how their skincare compiles with the makeup. And I think it’s clean or cruelty free or something too so that’s a plus
Thank you so so so much for your very candid review. I feel you’re the only one who would tell us the truth. And for me, having dryer skin like you, I cannot tell you how much I appreciate your honesty. Thank you!
Your video has been the best I watched, and the way you described the products were detailed and honest. Finally!!! You are the first person to comment about how I felt about the highlighter - I returned mine. I couldn't do it. Not a fan of obvious glitter on my face. You're right the swatch and application to the face are so different. Glad you choose to do the video again.😊 Thank you. Matte lip products are my favs too.💄🧡 Selena is very thoughtful. Glad she's come out with this line.
I went to a Rare Beauty event at my Sephora today- even got a makeup bag that was signed by Selena! I feel like so much care went into this line and I love it. Super impressed with the products I picked up too!
I think that powder infused puff is more meant for blotting and touching up your makeup rather than any sort of setting action. That's what I use other powders for: I blot with an oil blotting sheet and then use a little bit of powder over top to get back the makeupy finish
Compacts are hard to open. If they are going for more ergonomic/arthritis friendly packaging, I don't think they would have compacts. Maybe they are reinventing a ergonomic compact that will be easier to open in the future
Agreed! One of the only compacts I find very easy to open are Clinique compacts, since that have a little button closure that you can push to open. I have some difficulty with pain in my hands sometimes and they’re never hard for me to open.
Yayyy, I've been waiting for this! Thanks so much for the review. I'm in the UK so I know Rare beauty most likely won't be available for me to purchase for a while but that gives me plenty of time to research haha. However I was really looking forward to your review tbh, because not only do I love your style of makeup but ever since I was prescribed differin gel for my acne like 6 months ago my skin has been an unholy level of dry. I literally bathe my face in hydrating serums, moisturisers, oils and even reapply moisturiser throughout the day if I'm at home because my skin just becomes so dry and tight so easily. I drink like 4 bloody litres of water a day too and I still rarely wake up without a couple of flaky patches of skin, especially around my mouth and on my neck. And now that winter is coming, it's about to get even worse lmaoo. So I feel your dry skin issues girl, thanks so much for this very comprehensive review. ❤
Thanks Allana! Was waiting to hear from you and you only on Rare Beauty's stuff! I'm sold now on the souffle lipstick :) I would love love to see you do Tom Ford's quad palettes African Violet and Honeymoon! They're such unique colours (not all the quads, just some) and I'd love to see a high-drama meets classic glam eternal-summer-forever (like you said!) look. The natasha denona bronze palette also looks kind've stunning too.
How good is it that it’s a full launch! A bit weird that there’s no bronzer product, but overall it’s such a promising brand. Can’t wait to hear your thoughts!
I have super super super dry skin like you do, and I really appreciate that you review products for folks like us with really dry skin! It's so helpful, and your reviews are always my go to for that reason 🥰
Using concealer as foundation. Love concealer brush, love the blush in joy, great for fall. Lip soufflé ok, liquid lips formulas are getting more comfortable but this didn’t have staying power (for me) of a similar but more expensive version, Chanel’s le rouge Duo’s.
Okay... i havent heard anyone compare the 2, but having use to work for NYX professional makeup, I knew EXACTLY what the foundation reminded me of!!!!! Does it not feel and apply EXACTLY like the NYX total control dropper foundation?!?!? Someone please back me up here ahaha
I love that this is not a first impressions... for me it’s more useful that you had more time to test the products and give us your opinion. I definitely needed to know your thoughts before getting the blushes 😬 regards from Mexico! 💕
The best review yet! I feel like so many people just jumped on the hype & said everyone needed to buy every product so I needed an honest review from you Thankyou 💘
I picked up a lot of this collection and the only product I didn’t like was the lip balm. I loved the feel of it, but I couldn’t get past the soap taste. Anyone else think it tastes like soap? Such a bummer, bc the colors and formula are so nice.
Also I agree with you, I thought the color praise looked so pretty on the website, but when I got it in person and tried it, it just looked strange. It was too peachy - in a not so good way.
The sponge is very much similar in texture as that giant sponge Tati loved so much. I actually bought that one and it’s really good in performance, just feels so different to what we are used to. I’ve watched so many reviews and it’s so mixed! I’m happy for Selena. I love the mission of the brand to raise millions for mental health. A business with a purpose! Imagine that 🤸♀️ Thank you Alanna!
Was at Sephora today and walked by the display, but didn't purchase anything. So hard not to try things out in the stores these days and just look. Glad to hear your thoughts on the products. Sounds like I will have to give the blush and lip souffle a try! Love the look you put together!
also as an oily/combo skin gal, i just wanted to say that the Blot & Glow Kit works super well on me!! the powder takes away the shine but keeps my skin glowy! and the blotting sheets def helped a sista out by the 7 hr mark 😊
The line is thought to be for people with movility problems, arthritis, etc. So that's why everything is a cream, the products are so pigmented and why the eyeliner is so thick. It allows more control and an easier application.
at first i also found the highlighter more difficult to work with, but i’ve learned over a week of trying it that blending it in with your FINGERS is key! the warmth really blends it in seamlessly and melts it into your skin the way my brush and sponge couldn’t. so pro tip to anyone who also struggled with the Rare highlight, try your fingers!! this application method made me actually really like the highlighter 😊 also you might enjoy the shade Mesmerize Lan!
I’ve also been noticing that brands are not coming out with bronzers and it upsets me so much because like you I LOVE my bronzer! Also, so weird that your highlighters seem to have chunky glitters! So many people specifically said that theirs was the opposite and that they didn’t see any sort of large sparkles or glitter
I ordered the matte blush in Bliss and the lip balm in Praise. I think she did an amazing job on her line. I know not all makeup works for everyone or is everyone's cup of tea, thanks for your thoughts and review :)
I agree with you about the lip balm. I bought the shade blessed and was really underwhelmed. It clung to every detail of my lips, had a bad taste, and the color was not pleasing on the face. While I won’t be using it going forward, I am still excited to try the other products and love knowing she created the packaging to be arthritis friendly (rheumatoid arthritis here)!
I wanted to love the foundation and concealer. However, I have oily/combo skin. Idk if it’s just my skincare products affecting the overall performance of their base products, but I just don’t like how they set on my face. I feel like it’s sitting on my skin and never blends into the skin. When I start to get oily after a few hours, it doesn’t mix well with the natural oils and the coverage starts to wear off quicker than other foundations.
Could you please try TULA skin care I’ve been using face wash tinted moisturizer priming moisturizer sunscreen and the pink stick forgot what it’s called !!! But I would love to know your thoughts !??? And also been using the Elemis cleansing balm as well as the new Sunday Friday nighttime toner lemme know your thoughts . Huge fan of the Elemis cleansing balm with the Sunday Friday toner mixture gives you a facial glow the next am 💛
Please, please, PLEASE try Catrice cosmetics!! They're such a great affordable brand and they've just launched a new hidrating foundation that I'd really love your opinion on!!
Everyone keeps saying that there’s no bronzer or contour, but for light-skinned people, can’t you use a darker foundation if you want one? I know that’s not doable for everyone, but I was surprised that I haven’t seen anyone try this. I also know it’s intended to be kind of like Ilia - smooth out the complexion and slap on some cheeks, lips, liner/lashes and go.
Yay, Lan! I'm happy for your review. 💖 Extra pluses for Rare Beauty is that its vegan, cruelty-free, and the rounded packing is excellent for those with arthritis (like myself). I'm excited for additional product launches!
Great to watch! I love watching your honest reviews! Also nice even when something does not work it’s always based off your needs not the the item is crap etc. 💕. Great to watch while organizing my skin fridge and doing my skincare 🤣!
I’m the same in terms of primers and also foundations claiming to be hydrating. Not likely hydrating for very long. Really dry skin absorbs everything, especially for me since I live in a very dry environment. I actually have a good selection of base products right now so I’m not in the market for more. I am always tempted by liquid and cream blush, though.
Okay torn on what to do with the highlighter! You and raw beauty kristy had COMPLETELY different opinions like she said it didn’t set fast and said it was too natural... so idk
I just bought the lip balm in the shade Support and I actually am in looooove with the shade. For my skin tone it’s the perfect fall shade. And it dries down SO beautifully with a just-bitten/just-kissed stain on my lips. But my one little complaint about it is the taste/scent that it has. It tastes like soap bubbles???? Idk, did you have the same experience when wearing the lip balm? Other than that, I think it’s beautiful
This video was beautiful, the creamy beige backdrop, the white shirt, the gold accessories, the cute simple hair, the classy type, the soft lighting, and best of all the beautiful Allana herself

@Weiting Lin I think the off schedule made us extremely excited for whatever the content yay
@@a_tots so true😂
I’m so glad the Bobbi Brown vitamin enriched face base works for you but it’s designed for normal to oily skin girl and I can’t help but think there’s something better out there for your dry skin😩😩❤️
Thanks for the review, I was disappointed that you didn't seem to like a lot of the makeup line, but I love it!
The lip soufflés remind me maybe of the nyx lip creme-are they anything like that??
Yes sort of
i feel like the lip souffle are smoother and velvetier. they're more like the kbeauty velvet type of tints
agree! i wonder if they last longer on the lips than the NYX? 🤔
@@stacieberries these last about 9 hours
Do you think the lipstick would transfer if wearing a mask?
Lan looks like a ✨goddess✨in this set up 🤩 I got the concealer, the blushes, highlight and the foundation brush and I’ve been wearing them since the day they came out and I’m very thrilled with them! I also appreciate that the foundation and concealer offers neutral olive undertones! 230n is my perfect color match 😍
Best way to spend my evenings at home is watching Allana's videos
“It looks rather phallic if you ask me.” GIRL WHAT KIND OF DI-
I'm gonna be looking at Dejan with a very curious mind next time he pops up on screen... 🤔🤣
I feel like Rare really stood out because of that and had the products to back it up ❤️
IVE BEEN WAITING FOR THISSS !! not that i can even get my hands on rare beauty just yet 😭😩
I’d love to see a full face honest beauty skincare and full face honest beauty makeup all in one. I’d like to see how their skincare compiles with the makeup. And I think it’s clean or cruelty free or something too so that’s a plus
You look gorgeous! I like this "natural" set up, light , i enjoyed this video so much
I’ve found the highlighters work best on the skin in small amounts as a natural glow. It’s pretty gorgeous that way.
Thank you so so so much for your very candid review. I feel you’re the only one who would tell us the truth. And for me, having dryer skin like you, I cannot tell you how much I appreciate your honesty. Thank you!
Ooo she’s glowing!
Me watching this in my ibiza one piece going no where🙆🏻♀️
Your video has been the best I watched, and the way you described the products were detailed and honest.
Girl! Yaaas I’m so ready for this review! I ordered the foundation and i already got in in the mail, I hope you like it... I’m gonna keep watching!
YAYY was waiting for Lan’s thoughts!! 🥰🥰 loving the gold jewellery look girl 😍
I just bought the foundation today so I’ll try it out tomorrow🤍 hoping for the best!!
YOUR SKIN IN THIS LIGHTING THOUGH!!!!!! YEP. Buying the lip combo 👀
How good is it that it’s a full launch! A bit weird that there’s no bronzer product, but overall it’s such a promising brand. Can’t wait to hear your thoughts!
loving your brows lately! 😍so good
It kinda sounds like maybe some of the products needed to be shaken?? Just a thought
Is the lip product at all like the Nyx Soft Matte Lip Creams? That's what I think of when I hear people describe how they feel.
Thanks for the review!
I was wondering the same darn thing
Love your lipliner!! Do you mind sharing what it is?
Instantly subscribed. Loved how you talked through it along with showing us the application process.
Okay... i havent heard anyone compare the 2, but having use to work for NYX professional makeup, I knew EXACTLY what the foundation reminded me of!!!!!
You need to shake the foundation maybe that's why it feels that way because Selena said you should shake all her products.
What was the lipliner you wore before wearing the lip soufflé??
I'm here for the lip souffles - that pink looks amazing on you!
The best review yet! I feel like so many people just jumped on the hype & said everyone needed to buy every product so I needed an honest review from you Thankyou 💘
the lighting is soooo beautiful! and the lip souffle’s formulas i’m sure are similar with korean brands makeup w/ their creamy lip stain.
Yessss the review I’ve been waiting for! 👏🏼
I did notice a taste but it doesnt bother me too much
Yes! It tastes like bubbles. I can’t stand it, unfortunately. Like everything else though!
Totally tastes like soap
I didn’t know u have to eat lipstick!!!💀
Have been waiting for this😘✌️ loads of love❤️
Ps I am obsessed with your vlogs🥰✨💫
Love the lighting in this video and the backdrop colour, so calming 😍
The way you described the formulas of the lip soufflés remind me of the NYX soft matte liquid lipstick formulas. I’ll have to compare them.
I enjoy layering the lip soufflé over the bite beauty lip stain for an extra long-lasting colour 👌
Try the shade Empathy in the lipsticks! It’s like a your lips but better shade, I think you’d like it wayyy better xo
The primer made the foundation look incredibly cakey and dry on me unfortunately. The foundation with my regular skincare routine is quite beautiful.
I LOVE how natural the lighting in this video is.
I got the balm in the shade Thankful. I really like the formula. The shade is maybe a touch more brown than I wanted or hoped for.
GIRL you look amazing. Love your jewelry & the whole vibe of this video!!!😍
I love the whole quality going on in this video! Absolutely amazing 🥰
I have decided ill buy the blush, the brow pencil and gel, and the lip souffle 🙌 I love bushy eyebrows actually I like how it looks on you ✨
You and raw beauty kristy had COMPLETELY different opinions like she said it didn’t set fast and said it was too natural... so idk
Thankful- the nude mauve shade in the lip balm is amazing
I just bought the lip balm in the shade Support and I actually am in looooove with the shade. For my skin tone it’s the perfect fall shade. And it dries down SO beautifully with a just-bitten/just-kissed stain on my lips. But my one little complaint about it is the taste/scent that it has. It tastes like soap bubbles???? Idk, did you have the same experience when wearing the lip balm? Other than that, I think it’s beautiful
